I had my leather armor on, buckling the straps before I realized I had decided to go outside. Part of my mind gibbered in terror as I slipped on my boots and shrugged into the straps that held my pneumatic weapon. But it was a very small part. The rest of me was...

REVIEW: Hour of the Lion by Cherise Sinclair

Dear Ms. Sinclair:

I've many a friend who swear by your erotic romance. Even Angela James, whose recommendations I trust almost implicitly is a big fan. But every time I have started one of your books there seems to be a club scene, as if BDSM practitioners are also, by definition, exhibitionists. While club scenes may have been intriguing to me at one time, they've lost their freshness and now I'm reluctant to read past those scenes (and one series by you is centered around a club...

PRIDE WEEK: Contemporary Recommendations from Sunita

If you're interested in reading one of the three books I discuss below, post in the comments with your own favorite LGBT contemporary romance (or why you're interested in reading one of these, if you don't yet have a favorite), and you'll be entered to win. Giveaway ends at 4AM EST on Sunday.

When Dear Author decided to take note of Pride Week with posts about essential books in the LGBT romance genre, I knew I wanted to write about contemporaries. Not only are they my favorite subgenre in...

PRIDE WEEK: Friday Film Review: If These Walls Could Talk 2

If These Walls Could Talk 2 (2000)

Genre: GBLT Social Dramedy

Grade: B

[image error]Frankly I put this one in my Netflix queue because after enjoying "Saving Face" I was looking for another lesbian centered movie and this one seemed to have gotten fairly good reviews while many others had been panned. It also features several strong actresses who I knew would probably turn in good performances. The potential downside was that since there are three short vignettes, it might turn out to be like a book...

REVIEW: Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma

NOTE: THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS – BIG, HUGE SPOILERS – FOR THE ENTIRE BOOK. PLEASE DO NOT PROCEED IF YOU PLAN TO READ THE BOOK AND DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED ON THE PLOT.

Dear Ms. Suzuma,

This has been a really difficult review to write.

When Jane sent an email indicating that this book was available for review to the reviewer group, and Janine chimed in to say that Forbidden was apparently about an incestuous brother/sister relationship, I was instantly intrigued. I was curious about how a...

PRIDE WEEK Review & Giveaway: Sister Mischief by Laura Goode

Dear Ms. Goode,

I requested your book from NetGalley because it was labeled LGBT and YA. The pickings are slim for that kind of material there and I've been on the lookout for a gay teen romance.

[image error]Sister Mischief isn't a romance, but it's a damned fine YA novel so I wasn't disappointed. This is going to be a long review, I think, because the book is filled with tiny little pieces of awesome. I could quote from dozens of passages. Where to start?

I probably wouldn't have picked up this book based ...

REVIEW: The Man Who Could Never Love by Kate Hewitt

Note: was released in the UK as "The Bride's Awakening"

Dear. Ms. Hewitt,

Your post at DA about your hero who deliberately marries his plain heroine caught my attention. A dashing, powerful, dark Italian hero who isn't going to bed/marry then spurn/reject/humiliate a delicate blonde flower of a heroine? Bring it!

"Vittorio Ralfino, the Count of Cazlevara, is back in Italy to make a business proposition. He wishes to marry a traditional wife, and Anamaria Viale—sturdy, plain and from a good...
