Agony/Ecstasy Anthology: Lily Daniels and Kiss of Life
[image error]
The 100 anniversary of the Titanic will be upon us and there is a growing body of fiction that will be commemorating it. I am not sure if the impending anniversary spurred Lily Daniels (aka Janine from DA) to write the story, but I thought it was a timely story. The excerpt is fairly short because the story itself is explicit and not well suited to truncated excerpts. Enjoy!
"Does this satisfy you?" Hugh breathed into her ear.

She turned to Hugh. Martin had hurt her, and Hugh had...
Review: Kindle Touch
When Amazon first announced the Kindle Touch line of readers I was pretty indifferent about it. I mean they looked nice, but I was perfectly happy with my Kindle 3 (now the Kindle Keyboard) and my older eInk devices (Kindle 2, Cybook Opus & Sony PRS-505) and saw no real need for anything else. So I didn't need a Kindle Touch by any stretch of the imagination, but need seldom comes into play when it comes to gadgets for me.
I opted for the $99 Kindle Touch WiFi with Special Offers. Since...
REVIEW: Because of the List by Amy Knupp
Dear Ms. Knupp:
In looking in my past reviews, I don't see that I've read you before but I believe I have and just not reviewed the book(s) that I've read. Because of the List starts out with a old but favorite premise. Hero is best friends with heroine's older brother. The twist in this book is that the hero, Alex, is beset with guilt for having piloted the BlackHawk helicopter in which the older brother Quinn was riding when the helo was shot down. Quinn died in that crash. Alex...

Winner of the Sony PRS-T1BC
[image error]It's a little late, but I've picked the winner of the October comments who will receive a Sony PRS T1BC. Remember that I unboxed this device for a review, but all the pieces are intact and it still has the plastic around the edges which I did not review because I wanted to give the device away.
We had 6,600 comments in the month of October. According to mysql database, the comments started at number 315323 and ended at 321923 (which I believe is 6,600). Using random.org and those numbers, the ...
Agony/Ecstasy Anthology: Sarabeth Scott and Silverlight
[image error]
Sarabeth Scott's story reminded me a tiny bit of Daddy Longlegs with Fred Astaire and Leslie Caron but it may have been a nutcracker story with Clara as the heroine. Clara is the female protagonist whose need for punishment is a deeply held secret known only to one man.
"Stand," he said. He did not offer his hand to assist her, yet she rose in graceful movement until she stood straight before him. Her lips were red. And moist.
"Unbutton your dress." Her hands flew to the line of buttons down...

REVIEW: Scored by Lauren McLaughlin
Dear Ms. McLaughlin,
In the glutted world of YA dystopians, it can be hard to stand out. After all, how many variations of a grim future in which a teenager's entire life is mapped out by a test can there be? But despite that, your novel reminded me that even the most tired plot can find new life through fresh execution.
In Scored, towns all over the U.S. have agreed to take part of a program in which their children are "scored." Based on an array of criteria, children are assigned numbers...
Agony/Ecstasy Anthology: Delphine Dryden and "Safeword"
I can't remember if I read Delphine Dryden before her submission or after but the one book that sticks out in my head is When in Rio where the hero says that he is a spanker with pretensions. I find her sex scenes to have a certain sense of humor, as if there is no question that everyone is enjoying themselves thoroughly. It's kind of infectious. Safeword is an office romance where a little naughty teasing turns from thoughts to action.
I would have been fine if he had never made that...
Friday Film Review: The Snow Walker
The Snow Walker (2003)
Genre: Adventure/Drama
Grade: B
NOTE: This one has a bittersweet ending. If you're okay with that, read on.
At Susanna Kearsley's urging I put this one in my Netflix queue months ago where it lingered and lingered. And lingered. She gently goosed me a bit about it in a comment on one of my reading/watching lists and I thought, "Gotta finally get off my ass and move this to the top of my queue." At long last I did and now can say, "Thanks, Susanna. Good rec."

REVIEW: Rocky Mountain Heat by Vivian Arend
Dear Ms. Arend:
This is the first book in Six Pack Ranch series which, given that there are six boys in the Coleman family, means that each book will likely feature one of the Coleman brothers. The oldest brother is Blake and this story has a friends to lovers theme. While I liked the concept – young girl blossoms into a woman who knows her own mind and pursues the reluctant prey, err, man – much of the story involving the family seemed extraneous and strange.
Jaxi is a friend of the Coleman ...
