December Daily® 2020 | Story Twenty-One

For my 21st story in my 2020 December Daily® album I'm using the prompt "Today I..." This is a prompt I've used in a variety of projects (in a variety of styles) over the years. It gets to the heart of my love for everyday documentation and storytelling and is an easy way to capture a variety of facts + feelings from your day.

I think one of my favorite parts about this one was listing out what I picked up at the grocery store. Those are the kinds of things I think are really fun to look back on in the future. In past year's I've had handwritten grocery lists that I've included which is another fun way to tell a similar kind of story.

Let's dive in and take a look how this came together:

Now let's take a closer look via images:

For today's story I decided to pair on the of the 3x8 transparencies with a journal block (sized to 3 inches x 8.25 inches) to hold my story.

I printed my journaling by creating a black box and then selecting white for the color of my text. The font today is Mom's Typewriter. Before running the pieces through my sewing machine with red thread I adhered a second photo to the back of my journaling block (see photo below).

On the back of the felt zero from story twenty I added a chipboard piece from the Main Kit.

On top of the tree transparency I added puffy numbers, a cork star, and a glass star from Tim Holtz.

Along the top I added one of the black tabs (stapled with a Tiny Attacher) and then added a "good cheer" chipboard from the Chipboard Bundle to the photo.

December Daily® 2020 | Story Twenty

Today's story in my 2020 December Daily® album is short + sweet as I document the blooming amaryllis that I planted last month.

As we move closer to Christmas I just want to say thank you to those of you who shared your stories with me related to this project over the last few months. Whether you played outside the page protectors or stayed inside or did a fun combination of both I hope you realize that documenting your story matters. You matter. I hope this project helped you create or find moments of joy in your life this season.

Let's dive in and take a look how this came together:

Now let's take a closer look via images:

Working on the back of story 19, I printed the photo of my amaryllis' in a 6 inch circle and hand cut it out using scissors. On top of that photo (which is adhered to the transparency) I added a phrase from the chipboard set in the Main Kit.

I paired today's photo with two of the felt numbers we offered with the 2020 collection. I had stitched these together on my sewing machine for my foundation pages because I'd wanted to add them directly into my album.

For punching holes I used a Power Punch along with some small scissors to finish off the last little pieces.

My journaling was printed on photo paper (ended up being about 1.75 inch x 2.75 inch) and I rounded the edges using a corner rounder. Font is Remington Noiseless.

I added staples from the Tiny Attacher to both the tab along the outside edge and to the journaling block.

2021 AE Creative Team

Happy Monday!

We are super excited today to introduce you to our Creative Team for 2021. Some of these faces you might recognize from previous years and some might be new to you or you might be familiar with their work from Instagram or other creative teams/projects.

We are honored that everyone from our 2020 team is returning and we've add three new faces for 2021.

All of these women are fantastic memory keepers who focus on storytelling (bring on the words) in addition to great design. Most are hybrid scrapbookers which means they take our digital products and print them out and/or use them in projects that end up printed. Most do a combination of traditional layouts and pocket pages. We are so honored that they had an interest in working with our products and sharing their stories in this way in the coming year.

Please take a moment to learn a bit more about them:

December Daily® 2020 | Story Nineteen

My nineteenth story in my 2020 December Daily® is super short + highlights how I took the day completely off and how thankful I was for that opportunity. I paired that story with a foundation page I worked on a few months back.

Let's dive in and take a look how this came together:

Now let's take a closer look via images:

My 19th story was created using a foundation page that I put together for Product Play 4 using the triangle stamps (I had fun embossing those) + cut pieces of pattern paper to create a circle that folds open. That piece is adhered to a larger circle with foiled text which is adhered to one of the transparency that was included in the transparent bundle this year.

The only thing I added to the outside of the circle when I was adding my story today was the "19" using these white puffy number stickers

I knew I wanted to use the alpha stamps and green ink to create my short story and I didn't mind at all that some of the words went off the edge. To add a bit more to the story I used a Precision Pen to add in a few more thoughts about the day.

December Daily® 2020 | Story Eighteen

Today's 2020 December Daily® story is a celebration of Simon + Star Wars. We watched the season finale of The Mandalorian together on Friday morning and it was just the best. No spoliers!

Let's dive in and take a look how this came together:

Now let's take a closer look via images:

Today's foundation page was created as a page idea in December Daily® Product Play 4. Loved the idea of "wrapping up" a story using pattern paper and pattern vellum and large plastic circles.

When you open up the papers you find a photo of Simon experiencing joy while watching reaction videos (ended up being about 6 inches wide x 8.25 inches tall) and journaling about our morning.

For today's story I handwrote my journaling using a Precision Pen and a Slick Writer. I love creating a little bit of contrast within my journaling by two different weights of pens.

Along the bottom of the photo I added another plastic circle, the 18 chipboard, a "be merry" half circle from the Die Cut Bundle and a phrase from the perforated phrase strips from the Main Kit.

December Daily® 2020 | Story Seventeen

For my seventeenth story in my 2020 December Daily® album I decided to focus solely on the words. In the video below I give a couple tips for this kind of writing + share a bit more about my process.

Let's dive in and take a look how this came together:

Now let's take a closer look via images:

I created this foundation page when working on content for the Product Play 4 workshop. I knew I could put almost anything in that space underneath the "doors" I created with the tree transparency. When it came time to use this page to hold a story I decided to just include words.

I printed my journaling and simply adhered it to the original cardstock and re-punched the holes.

Green + white twine ties to two pieces of transparency together.

On the outside of the transparency I added the one and seven from the felt number set using red line tape. On top of the number I added a chipboard heart and chipboard words from the Main Kit.

Bring on the words!

December Daily® 2020 | Story Sixteen

For story sixteen in my 2020 December Daily® album I'm including our Christmas card and also have everyone tell me either their favorite thing from 2020 or at least one good thing.

Let's dive in and take a look how this came together:

Now let's take a closer look via images:

Today's page is primarily working off the backside of Day 15, utilizing the triangle shapes, and then includes our Christmas card. As you'll see in today's video I went through a few different ideas before deciding on this (including one story idea that I've already included in this album for 2020 and I was just totally not remembering).

The back of our Christmas card includes word art that I'll be sharing here on the blog as a free download after Christmas.

For today's story I ended up going around the house and asking each person to either tell me their favorite thing about 2020 or at least one good thing. This year has been full of all kinds of disappointments so it was interesting to watch and listen to each kid + Aaron think a bit to identify something good. I'm so glad I ended up doing this.

Technically each of the triangles is about 2 inches wide x 3 inches tall. I cut white cardstock to those sizes (one for each of us + then two out of felt) and used our Otter Rock ink and the uppercase stamp set to add an initial to each triangle.

Initially I didn't plan to add a second layer but as you'll see in the video I ended up printing each of the little stories on printable ink jet vellum and then adhering each one using folded over washi tape. I also added the circle chipboard numbers from the Chipboard Bundle

Along the top of the felt pieces I added Tim Holtz Label Tape. On the top triangle I added "us" using the chipboard alpha and a metal heart from the Main Kit and on the bottom triangle I added a wood veneer star from the Star Mini Kit along with a chipboard word and a perforated phrase (both from the Main Kit).

I really love how this one turned out!

December Daily® 2020 | Story Fifteen

For the fifteenth story in my 2020
December Daily® album I'm celebrating Audrey's 12th birthday (her birthday is the 15th). I paired a full page photo (adhered to the back of yesterday's full page photo) with a texture triangle page I put together for December Daily® Product Play 4

Let's dive in and take a look how this came together:

I've had a couple questions about the music I've been using in my videos this month. I used a music license service called Soundstripe. Today's music is Dance At The Abbery by Joshua Spacht.

Now let's take a closer look via images:

For today's story I decided to follow something somewhat similar to what I did for Elliott's birthday in Story Fourteen. I printed a full page photo (7x8.25) and decided to add felt stars from the 2020 Star Mini Kit in a column along the right side of the photo. I went back and forth on a couple of ideas before deciding to go with the stars - remember any embellishments could work in place of them.

To connect the first page with the second page (the triangle banners from Product Play 4) I decided to run the photo page through my sewing machine using the same red thread I used on the triangle page.

On top of the white felt star I added gold puffy number stickers (from our Storytelling Basics Collection) and also added a word sticker on top.

The next step in my process was to add journaling underneath the textured/paper triangle banners. For Audrey I decided to write little notes about things I love about her right now.

Loved this opportunity to add little love notes to her in this season.

I used the December Daily® 2020 Star Stamp Set for the tops of the banners.

December Daily® 2020 | Story Fourteen

For the fourteenth story in my 2020
December Daily® album I'm celebrating Elliott's 14th birthday.

His actual birthday was on the 12th which makes this a great reminder that you don't have to tell a specific story on a specific day. My goal with this project is to document 25 stories that happen between the first and the 25th.

Let's dive in and take a look how this came together:

Now let's take a closer look via images:

Bring on the circle repetition! For today's story I knew I was going to be working on the back of the circles from Story 13 and I decided to go to my computer and set up 6, 2.25 inch circles. On top of those circles I added my story for the day which is about what Elliott is "currently into" right now as a brand new 14 year old. I used a combination of Moms Typewriter and Bebas for my fonts.

I paired each of those circles with a partial piece of a 2.25 inch circle punched piece of pattern paper from the Main Kit (these ended up being about .75 inches wide) and then ran those through my sewing machine for added texture.

On top of each circle I added either a cork star or a glass star from Tim Holtz.

For the title on top of my full page photo I paired one of the plastic circles from the Main Kit with a 3-inch circle punched piece of white cardstock and stitched a circle to adhere the two of them together.

On top of the large circle I added a chipboard 14 from the Main Kit, a cork star, and a word sticker that says "wonderful."
