what style of tv show do you like best (ie, competition shows, mysteries, etc). Right now I'm all about the murder-death-kill reality detective shows.
Which one of your books would you like to see made into a TV show?
I'd love to see Mad About the Hatter as a mini series, or Repeating History as an ongoing series. Both are YA under my Dakota Chase pen name.
Sean
My favorite TV show as a kid would depend on how far back you went.
Really little: The Friendly Giant
Middling little: A Gift to Last
Teenage-y: The Dukes of Hazzard
Early Twenties: Robin of Sherwood
My current favorite show is Lucifer
All time favorite show is a little harder. I think I'll go with Criminal Minds - although I'm not happy at all with it this year, it was my absolute favorite for the first eight, nine years of its run.
As for which of my books I'd like to see on TV... well, I think all the BDSM stuff just wouldn't make it onto the screen *grins* The Mannies Series would be fun, though!

When Rejection Is a Good Thing by S.C. Wynne

But I've decided that at this point in my career rejection only means something if it's a consensus of some sort. I have a few books where readers were pissed at me because I wrapped it up too quickly. If it was one reader, I'd probably ignore it. But when there are a lot of readers who felt cheated by an ending, well then I'd be stupid not to listen.
However, when it comes to a rejection by a publisher, I've learned that doesn't mean as much. My two most successful books to date are two stories that were passed on by one particular publisher. But I've earned double or triple what I probably would have, by self-publishing those two stories. And that means that the rejection of that publisher was not the consensus. If the books had bombed, then the publisher's rejections would have meant more to me. But they didn't, and I take a lesson in that. The buying public is the only consensus I truly care about.
I always remember Marie Force once said that the best thing that ever happened to her was when Harlequin rejected her first story. She's gone on to enjoy an amazing writing career. I'll take a page from her book and look at any possible rejection as a stepping stone to something even more amazing around the bend.

A Cover and an Excerpt by Felice Stevens
But onto the good news. My new book, One Call Away, is scheduled for release on April 28th. Those who know me, know I am a pretty fast writer. Except for this book. This book took me a year to write. That's right. One year. I got the idea for it on the beach in Florida with my daughter and I thought it would be easy butI couldn't get a handle on one of my character's goal, motivation and conflict. I put it aside, picked it up and them put it down again
Finally however, they came to life and I have to say I love these guys more than anything and I can't wait for you all to read Noah and Oren. Here's an exclusive excerpt:
"I told you already, I’m their charity case, their token Jew.” When he took the job, Oren thought he could brush it off, but lately the sense of ostracism was proving harder to handle than he’d imagined. Isolated by his religion and his sexuality, the only time lately Oren found himself able to be free was when talking to Noah.“Every year they make a show of how diverse they are with their one black first-year hire, and their Asian and Latino associates. We’re paraded around to the legal community as DeWitt and Wynters’ ‘new generation’ of lawyers who are breaking the mold of the white, Christian elite, upper echelon when in reality they give us the grunt work or the impossible-to-win cases. The special outings are at golf courses, which have no members like us, and we don’t know how to play, so we sit around doing nothing, while the others have a great time bonding. Either that or they schedule firm parties on Jewish holidays when they know I can’t attend. They put on a good show, but we know we don’t belong, and we’re too afraid to complain or say anything because jobs are so hard to come by, and the firm’s name still opens so many doors.”Stunned at his bitter outburst, Oren smiled faintly at Noah. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to let it out on you.”“I’m glad you did.” A twinkle lit Noah’s eyes. “Sounds like something you’ve been holding back for a while now.” He sobered up. “I’m sorry you have to go through that. Isn’t there another place you can work where you’ll feel safe?”“Safe?”“I’m sure if they are as bigoted as they sound against people of color and other religions, they are also intolerant of gays.”Not in a million years would Oren ever speak of his sexuality to Harlan or Toby. Even the fact that Harlan had spoken to Noah freaked him out a bit.“It isn’t something I plan to discuss with them. It’s none of their business.” Agitated, Oren turned away from Noah and fumbled in the drawer for a corkscrew. With quick, angry turns, he opened the wine.“It was only a thought. I’m not saying you should.” Noah’s soothing voice steadied the rapid thump of Oren’s heart. “What was his name again, the guy I spoke to on the phone?”“Harlan.” The sound of that name sent a sinking feeling into the pit of Oren’s stomach. “He’s not only in charge of my group; he’s the great-grandson of one of the firm’s founders and can do whatever he wants. And he does.”“See, that’s what I thought. His voice…it sounded cunning. Like he was trying to figure something out and use it against you. I got worried and thought of how upset you might be. I’m so sorry you have to put up with someone like him. You deserve so much better.” Noah’s eyes searched his, and Oren couldn’t break away from the pull of their blue depths. An unfamiliar ache of longing built up inside him, painful yet sweet. A need to touch and be touched with meaning. He found himself drawn to Noah, much more so than to any person he’d ever met. Was it wrong of him to want Noah? He considered him his doctor, his therapist. Most importantly, Noah was his friend. In these past few weeks something between them changed, and Oren found himself thinking of Noah as a man and not merely a risk. And staring into Noah’s eyes, Oren knew that wanting Noah might be worth the risk he was finally willing to take.

Ask Andrew - And We're Back to Sex
I haven't had sex with my husband in a year. We're in our fifties and things have really slowed down for us. Is this normal?"
B. R.
Dear B. R.
I have to be honest with you, I don't know if this kind of interval between making love is normal or not, but I suspect so. Dominic and I have been together for over twenty years and things between us have slowed down in the bedroom, but they're no less intimate. Personally I have discovered the joy of cuddling and holding each other. Life is demanding and sometimes its nice to be still with another person for a while. But that doesn't mean sex has stopped all together, nor should it.
As we get older our bodies tend to slow down some, especially after 50. Our bodies lose some of the drive and vigor of youth. But that shouldn't mean the fun is over and sex is a thing of the past. It just means that a little extra effort may be required
My advice is if you want to put the spark back into your relationship, break out of your routine. Go somewhere fun and sexy. To a spa, or to a hotel with one of those in room Jacuzzis. Take you and your husband out of the house and into a place with some sexual energy and see if that doesn't spark a little love action. Relationships are work, but sometimes we need to rediscover the fun and joy of being in love.
Hugs and Love Always
Andrew

Weird and wonderful objects with BA, Julia, Kiernan, and Sean
This week we're sharing the weirdest and most wonderful things in our offices!
BA wants to share her horn hat. Worn at the booksigning last year at RT, they were laboriously made by the talented Kiernan Kelly on a dare.
Julia presents a bank her brother gave her in 1979. No kidding. It still winds up and a hand comes out to grab coins.
Kiernan says: This is the light switch plate on the wall of my office. Yes, his erection goes up or down depending on whether the light is on or off. Snort. I got it at a garage sale being held by an elderly woman -- who, by the way, didn't bat an eye when I asked and paid for the "man plate."
Sean says: Yes, that is a crocheted rainbow penis. The fabulous Kiernan Kelly made that for me and I adore her for it. It's good when your friends know and get your crazy ;)
What's on your wall?

Romance Tropes by Christa Tomlinson

Tropes get a bad rep, especially from outsiders to the romance novel world. People set them up as a way to show how romance novels are all the same. But I disagree. First, although the general idea may be the same, no two novels are alike. You can ask five different authors to write you a secret baby romance, and you’ll wind up with five very different stories. One of them might have an alien baby. One of them might have a single dad. One of them might have a woman who found an alien baby abandoned by its single dad.
Second, tropes are everywhere, not just in romance. Good looking fella who goes on a quest for treasure and artifacts, facing danger along the way? The Mummy. Or Raiders of the Lost Ark. Or National Treasure. Or Three Kings. Or… well, you get the idea.
For creative types, tropes are a great way to build the foundation for the book, movie, or play that will spring forth. For readers, they offer a sense of familiarity. They let us know if it’s something we’ll enjoy. For example, when I’m book browsing, I can tell right off from the back cover copy if it’s the type of story I like or like to avoid. Some of my favorites to read are hurt/comfort, friends to lovers and forbidden love.
As I plan out my stories, I definitely think about what tropes will be included in the plot. Because I love tropes. I'd roll around in them like a puppy in clover if I could. If nothing else, they at least give me a starting point to build from.
What are some of your favorite tropes? Which do you think are over-done in the romance world? Are there any you'd like to see more of or wish would disappear off the face of the earth? Let me know in the comments!

Blurb Reveal: To Touch You by Cardeno C.
Blurb: To Touch You by Cardeno C.
“His name is Salvatore Rossi. He’s a vampire. And he’s my true mate.”
By not relying on anyone except himself, Salvatore Rossi escaped a dead-end existence and reached the height of corporate success. But just when he has everything he always wanted, fate throws Salvatore a challenge he can’t solve alone and a young wolf shifter comes to his rescue.
Since childhood, Yoram Smith’s family was certain he would grow to become Alpha and save their beloved pack from its slow demise. When the time comes for a new leader, Yoram is forced to juggle his duty to care for a splintering pack with his duty to care for an absent mate, and his own strength suffers.
Being turned into a vampire didn’t alter Salvatore’s life philosophy: if you don’t rely on anyone, nobody can let you down. But when the boy who saved his life becomes a man who needs his help, the icy vampire must find his humanity.
Have a terrific week.
