Stories making Year's bests
I'm delighted for Barbara Roden, whose story from Poe, "The Brink of Eternity" has been chosen for Paula Guran's Year's Best Dark Fantasy and Horror, coming out from Prime in October.
Rich Horton has taken John Langan's "Technicolor" from Poe for his Year's best Science Fiction and Fantasy and "Mongoose" by Sarah Monette and Elizabeth Bear from Lovecraft Unbound.
Jonathan Strahan has taken "Mongoose" as well plus Pat Cadigan's "Truth and Bone" from Poe
and "The Cinderella Game" by Kelly Link an...

Bad movies! and one great one.
Aighhhh. I watched two awful movies last night: Elephant Walk with Elizabeth Taylor, Peter Finch, and Dana Andrews. Granted, it was made in the mid-50s but the misogyny, the racism, the Imperialistic privilege....I put it in my queue because I thought it would be nice to see Taylor, Finch, and Andrews together. And....I have a kitten!
Not the one from Kittykind-ahem--for some weird reason they rejected me without even having called my references....very strange.
But Ellie and I went to BARC, a shelter in Brooklyn and I found a very sweet, little girl tabby with some white on her--four white paws, and some white on her face (not as much as her sister). She's adventurous--exploring the kitchen as soon as I took her out of the box. She likes playing and loves the laser pointer (something she has in common with Bella--once the...
