New Sewing Pattern, Nori, the Scandinavian Hairy Troll
Nori likes to play outside in the snow.
Nori is based on the hairy Scandinavian trolls. She is fully jointed with needle felted eyes and wired fingers. Nori is 16″ in total length. She wears a removable fur collar and is stuffed with love.
Nori, pictured above, is made from hand dyed wool and a premium faux fur. You may substitute the wool for any doll skin fabric of your choice. You may also use safety lock eyes or glass eyes on loops instead of needle felting the eyes.
I used safety lock joints for Nori, if you know how to use other joints, go for it. Please keep in mind who the recipient is when you choose materials.
My sewing patterns are clearly written in English and have illustrated directions. This sewing pattern is best for an intermediate sewer, or a beginner with a more advanced helper at hand.

When You Are Brave…
William Ogmundson and I are at it again! Will is the lyricist and composer for Hapenny Magick, the Musical, and we’ve just finished a new musical especially for kids age 4-8. Here’s a sneak listen (and Will wants me to apologize for his singing, but I think he has a great voice!) the new musical is based on my story from the Fox Hollow Tales series, Wojer and the Wizard of the Wood, currently being shopped to publishers and beautifully illustrated by P.A. Lewis MacDougall. You might remember seeing his cute little face before! I’ll let you guys know more details soon!

#showyourwork, Updates from the Dragon Charmer Studio
I know. It’s been a really long time since I’ve visited. This spring was so busy with the production of Hapenny Magick, and then I got really sick. Pretty much the whole month of May. And did I mention that I started a new job in March as well? So…now you know why I’ve been hibernating off line.
While recharging my batteries and settling into a new schedule, I’ve also been working on some new projects, one of which I’m particularly excited about, so I’ll show it to you first.
I’ve always wanted to illustrate a story with my dolls. This spring I discovered a illustrator who was doing exactly what I wanted to do. I love her book, Hank Finds an Egg. You can visit her at http://storywoods.blogspot.com. Anyway, she’s my current inspiration for Ducky and Spike, a new story I’m working on.
Ducky and Spike–Two new characters for a new story!
I also found 50 vintage hand sewn quilt blocks at a flea market in Vermont in July. Of course, I had to rescue them! I combined the vintage squares with some new squares and a hand-painted panel.
The panel about halfway painted.

While I was waiting for my quilts to be machine quilted, I embroidered this pretty lady:
Summer Coat, embroidery on cotton and wool felt, 2016
Last, but not least, I’ve been working on a new pattern too! Here’s a peek:
I’m picking up my Graveyard quilt at the machine quilter tomorrow too! I’ll share it soon!

Article published in Cloth, Paper, Scissors magazine
One of my goals for last year was to be published in a Somerset Studio Magazine. I completed three projects last April based on bioluminescent animals for a fall issue of the magazine with the theme” Into the Dark”. However, the magazine had to cut the article for room–but, next month, you’ll see one of the projects, “Fish Face” in Cloth Paper Scissors! Here’s the cover for the issue my project is in!
