Sir Tenderheart, New sewing pattern
Sir Tenderheart is a 10″, fully jointed lion. The directions include illustrations and full size pattern pieces. Directions in pattern include instructions for glass eyes, but other methods/eyes can be used. You will find a tutorial for needle felted eyes on my website, www.thedragoncharmer.com.
This listing is for the downloadable sewing pattern only– this is not a listing for a finished lion.
Finished projects may be sold. Please do not give finished lions to children if you have used glass eyes. This lion is child-safe if you use safety lock eyes or needle felt the eyes.
Find him in my Etsy store or at Patternmart.

New sketches and a new t-shirt design for the Hapenny Magick Series
Besides trying to finish up the new sewing pattern for Leif, a character in Hapenny Magick, I’ve been working hard trying to finish the dummy of Bedtime for Little Owl to send it to the interested art director that I met at the New England Society for Children’s Book Writer’s and Illustrators conference. Here are a few new sketches! And I promise after BEA to have some new sewing patterns out!
Little Owl and the Tufted Titmouse
Snuggles with mom and siblings.
A little double marketing effort here with this new t-shirt design for Hapenny Magick, Tangled Magick ( the sequel out next year) and the game, Hapenny Magick: A Troll’s Afoot. Not to mention that Pat Ann outdid herself on the illustration! You can buy a t-shirt for yourself or a little Hapenny you know through Redbubble.

From Sketch to (almost!) Finished—-The first Illustration for Bedtime for Little Owl
The first illustration is almost complete!
I spent much of this weekend
working on the first illustration for my story Bedtime for Little Owl. It isn’t quite complete yet, but it’s finished enough to get your feedback, and show you the sketch it started from.
Why did I start with this panel? Well, actually, it was the only one I had all the fabrics for already =0) The rest of the fabric arrives on Thursday!
The picture to the left is the sketch I did for this illustration.

Work in Progress, more sketches for Bedtime for Little Owl
I’ve been recovering in bed for the past few days after having a stomach bug and then getting a kidney stone on top of that. (Yes, Mom, I’m drinking lots of water!)
If you know me, you know that I don’t like sitting still— so if I wasn’t napping I was keeping my hands busy.
I’m pretty happy with how it is shaping up, and looking forward to getting into the next stage– still a lot of sketches to go though!

Bedtime for Little Owl
I am working on a new project, because I wasn’t busy enough (joking!) This book is a new challenge I’ve set for myself though. The story is about a little owl who wants to stay awake during the day and explore because the world looks so beautiful in the sunshine, but he discovers that there is no place like home and the world is just as beautiful at night. Here are a few preliminary sketches– I’m just trying to get the feel of how owls move and look.
A page from my sketchbook.
If you love owl’s too, you can make Hoot, the owl. Find his pattern on the Animal Sewing Pattern Page! Or on Etsy by following this link –>Hoot, sewing pattern

Awesome Creature Maker Monday, Fionna
Meet Fionna! She is my awesome creature maker for this week! Here’s what she wrote me:
Hi Jennifer, you don’t know me personally but I have had some of your patterns for a while now and just starting to make them up. I am not a sew-er as such, as I am mainly a Clay sculpter, but just having a wee break off clay and needed something else to do, then I remembered your patterns I had here. You make the patterns so simple to read etc., I didn’t have any trouble with them what so ever , so thank you for making easy to read patterns (for normally non-sewing people like myself lol !)……here is a link to my first ever soft sculpt I have just about finished…
