Should I change who I am for Him?
As a young woman first married I was so in love with my husband. There was nothing he would ask that I would not do. I waited on him, loved him and made sure he was comfortable at all times.
In retrospect, I realize my hand in spoiling and making him into the unkind man he turned out to be. My need to be a "good wife" caused harm in my marriage. One of my friends came to visit me and when she got married, she specifically told me that she refused to do certain things for her husband fearing...

Godzilla As A Three Year Old
"Isn't she adorable!" I commented to my husband.
"Yes," he smirked, "in a Godzilla kind of way."
"It is all perspective isn't it?"
"Yes," he responded, "What else will she crush that is not hers, as she gets older?"
I watched and this cute little adorable three year old was the makings of a selfish, self-centered young woman who thinks the world is hers to crush.
Her smiling adoring parents never once told her she should be mindful of her brother's creations in the sand. No one instructed her t...

Imajica by Clive Barker
This isn't a casual read. It represents a considerable investment in time and effort. Many characters, settings, plot lines and underlying principles to keep straight…. Yet, it is worth the investment of yourself. Even the language is of its own as you need to learn new lingo, so to speak to get the gist of the tale.
Like so many of Barker's other novels, there is a hidden world behind the our natural world. Barker is such a master at interweaving mundane, and profane, details into the...

Boogie Board Surfing is Not For Women my Size

Not Me! Look at him go!
So I decided to go boarding in the beautiful oceans of Hawaii. I mean after all, this is gorgeous! The water is bathtub warm, the sun was shining and the weather was a balmy wonderful 85 degrees.
I took my rented for a dollar an hour, yellow body board and with courage and determination went into the surf. Others were all around me on boards too. They stood up on them, they rode the waves, they tumbled on purpose and started over. What's the big deal huh? I can do t...

Notting Hill Still Rocks My Boat!
This is the second movie for Julia Roberts this month. I am featuring her all month on the blog.
An old one but a good one is Notting Hill. If you still love romance, if you want to see romance and need to experience love at a safe distance, this is a wonderful movie. A famous actress, Roberts, meets a book shopkeeper Hugh Grant in Notting Hill and they fall in love.
Call me a sentimentalist! I do not care but this is one of my favorite movies. It stays in the Women's Romance pack in my home. ...

Intercession is Selfless Prayer to God's Heart
When God leaves you in the dark never give up hope. Being in the dark is God's way of strengthening your relationship with Him. He will not feed you bull but He will keep you safe and you need to stay worry free.
When God is silent and you feel you are in the dank spaces of the soul, remember your first love, remember the times you listened and obeyed. Also remember His love for you and what He accomplished in you over the years.
When God stops communicating, start interceding. Nothing soothes ...

Stop the Whine Give Up the Tantrum
It is not acceptable for an adult to throw a temper tantrum. If we do not accept it from children, we certainly should not be required to accept it from adults. But then, an adult temper tantrum is that child who was never told it was inappropriate behavior.
When I hear a parent excuse their child's whiney behavior as being tired, I want to spit. I get tired too, as am sure you do. That does not give me or you the opportunity to gripe, whine and complain, in short act like a total moron...

When God Places a Vision in Your Heart
When God puts a vision in your heart, do not discard it as just another dream unattainable and impossible. Nothing in this world is impossible unless you are asking outside of the will of God.
I am not talking prosperity gospel not talking having everything you want, not demanding what is not yours. I am talking a vision in your very heart and soul of what your life is in God.
Remember the first flush of love when you first met the Savior? Remember those moments when it was clear what He did...
