I'm re-reading Shadow and Bone (perfection) and i been noticing Genya always disappears when the Darkling appears why?????
Spoiler alert: They are the SAME PERSON.
Okay, I lie. OR DO I??
Innocent/Logical Answer: Genya is a servant so she spends her time between the two courts and is used to making herself scarce when she’s around groups of higher status. She has no place in the processional or in the presentation at the winter fete. I may be wrong, but I *think* those are the only two times she disappears?
Worthwhile/Wild speculation answer: Given what you know about the Darkling and Genya, is it possible that he’s deliberate about getting Alina alone and that Genya is a part of this?
(and ftr, Genya, Alina, and the Darkling do have a chat after her audience with the Queen, so they can’t be the same person. OR CAN THEY??)

Wow. WOW.
All hail Margot Wood aka “The Real Fauxtographer.” She creates amazing images inspired by YA books, and I’m so honored that she chose Shadow and Bone for this one.
You should also click through to read her thoughts on the creative process and the way we sometimes defeat ourselves in our quest to make THE MOST AWESOME THING EVER. Great reading for authors and artists of all stripes.
I love this so much, Margot. You really captured Alina and the feel of the book.
Two Things
1. I can’t seem to get to twitter tonight through my phone or through tweetdeck so apologies for spotty replies. Is anyone else having this problem? It is filling me with… twage?
2. I’m seeing some concern in my AskBox re the amount of Darkling in Siege and Storm. Fret not. The man in black has plenty of page time.
In fact, for Valentine’s Day, how bout a little Darkling teaser? See you on February 14th! *bats lashes*
Hey Leigh, I am thinking of doing a portage of different scenes from the book and I was wondering what is Mal like I mean we know so much on what the other characters look like but we don't even know what color hair or eyes he has.If you could tell me t
So I was tempted to think that “portage” was an autocorrect for “montage” or “collage” or, less likely, “decolletage.” But then I was like, WHAT IF THERE ARE SPECIAL TUMBLR TERMS THAT I DON’T KNOW ABOUT?? Which I suspect there are. Anyway, whatever it is, I’m excited about it.
I describe Mal as having bright blue eyes. In book two, I mention that he has light brown hair. Hope that helps :D
