Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo Turkish...

bookwormmerve:

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo Turkish edition’s book cover. It is same as the original. Name and cover. I am very happy, a rare occurance. Publishing houses sometimes goes cheaper one for cover, ands puts irrelevant names. Yikes!

Hadn’t seen this! The Turkish cover of Shadow and Bone. Almost exactly like US cover with a couple of tiny differences :D

Hi Leigh! Are you going to write another short story before siege and storm is published; like the witch of duva?(if you do please don't make it scary[I still get chills when I think about anything gingerbread])

Right now, that’s my plan :)

Not scary?? But scary is so fun.

My goal is to make every dessert terrifying. One. By. One.

Hi Leigh! I was just wondering if we would ever get to see who Mal and Alina's parents are?(I was also wondering about the darkling's father, because I have a strong feeling that he is a corporalnik).

All I can say is that by trilogy’s end, you’ll know a lot more about their pasts.

But I’m curious… why Corporalnik?

what is your favorite classic novel of all time?

Hmm… can you give me parameters on “classic”? Are we talking dead authors? Core curriculum? Before a certain year? (If you think this is my way of avoiding picking a favorite, erm, there may be some truth to that ;)

Was Shadow & Bone your first completed manuscript or did you write other "books" before it? And do you believe in writer's block?

I started a lot of manuscripts, but Shadow and Bone was the first one I completed. My mantra through the whole process was, “Just finish” and I think it’s the best advice I can give to any aspiring author. Shut down the editor in your head, banish perfection, and FINISH THE DRAFT.

As for writer’s block, I think that’s a catchall term for more serious things that afflict us as people and as writers (self doubt, anxiety, depression) and hell yeah I think it’s real. When you have a bad writing day, I really believe the greatest danger is staying away from the page. Change POV, or go for a walk and talk a story point through, or move to a scene that you’re excited about even if it will never be included in the draft. Most importantly, don’t beat yourself up. Anyone who says they’ve never had a slump is either incredibly lucky or incredibly full of it.

GRRM breaks your heart featuring spoilers

George R. R. Martin: This is Bran. Bran loves climbing things. Oh my god he is freaking all about climbing. He loves climbing things so much you don't even know. He's really good at climbing. Someday he's going to be a strong knight. He just loves running and climbing. He loves it so much.

Readers: Aw, Bran, he's such a sweetheart. He's going to be so strong like his brothers.

George R. R. Martin: Whoops. My finger slipped. Bran is now a paraplegic.

Readers: Nnh! Whuh---Why would you---? But---he---But---climbing---

George R. R. Martin: This is Jaime.

Readers: Ah! Boo! We hate him!

George R. R. Martin: Did I mention that all Lannisters get the best and sassiest lines in the whole series?

Readers: Mmh... Still don't like him. Okay maybe we like him a little.

George R. R. Martin: Jaime loves two things-- Cersei and Swordfighting. Also he's very sassy. And he's the best at swordfighting. Also his love with Cersei is really heartbreaking because incest is so messed up but at the same time there's really no one else in the world for them. They will never love other people like they love each other. Also Jaime really loves swordfighting. He loves swordfighting so much. You don't understand how much he loves swordfighting.

Readers: Well...I guess...The more you think about it the more you see the Lannisters as tragic and sympathetic characters.

George R. R. Martin: Did somebody say tragic?

Readers: Wait---don't---

George R. R. Martin: Remember how Jaime loved sword fighting and Cersei more than anything?

Readers: Please----

George R. R. Martin: Whoops. Sword hand gone. Cersei doesn't love him.

Readers: (Weeping in fetal positions on the floor)

George R. R. Martin: This is Theon. He loves archery and banging chicks.

Readers: STOP.
