Grisha Fashion Series: Etherealki - The Order of Summoners {Part Two}

Grisha cannot create or animate matter. Inferni don’t “magically” create fire. They summon combustible gases like methane or hydrogen, but still need a flint to start a spark. Squallers can raise or lower air pressure to create storms, while Tidemakers use temperature and pressure to summon and control water. Etherealki frequently work in pairs.

I love all of these so much.

“Though from afar it’s easy to imagine the publishing business as either a collection of jaded gatekeepers who enjoy affirming their superiority by rejecting your work, or as a bunch of crass entertainment execs chasing the next megahit, I’ve been disappointed to find that it’s actually neither. Everyone who I’ve encountered in the book biz—from editorial to sales—seems disarmingly genuine about their love of books, and their jobs are pretty much like everyone else’s in the world, which is to say torn between reconciling their passion with the realities of the market. Every book they publish, especially if it’s by a first-time writer, is a risk to them and their reputation, and it’s one they take because they personally responded to the book. This was a revelation to me, the fact that the grand faceless facade of New York publishing turned out to be a collection of surprisingly normal people, all of whom were looking to fall in love with a manuscript.”

But as her power grows she falls deeper in the Darkling’s grasp and farther away from her best friend and love, Mal. Come See Me in New York on Thursday

Come See Me in New York on Thursday:

sarahreesbrennan:

Although it seems like everyone else is scampering off to NOLA for RT, I am going to be heading to New York this week and signing at Books of Wonder with a great line-up of fabulous folks:

HOLLY BLACK Doll Bones & Coldest Girl in Coldtown
DANIELLE PAIGE Dorothy Must Die
EMMY LAYBOURNE…

I will in fact be in NOLA (my first time in New Orleans! Going Wednesday! Going to moderate a panel on LGBTQ representation in YA which has Malinda Lo and Scott Tracey and Suzanne Brockmann on it! Going to moderate speedreading also! [I almost killed Jennifer Lynn Barnes last year. I do nothing, especially moderating, in moderation.] Going to sign everything in sight on Teen Day! Also I am going to go on a vampire tour but that’s a personal matter…)

What I’m saying is that a) Holly should clearly be in NOLA with me making sure there are no fatalities but b) if you are in NYC you should go see her. Because c’mon, it’s Holly.
