Musings – An Argyle Empire Anthology
Dear Everyone,
Many of you remember Terry, who was a member of our reading community for several years. She was lively and funny, compassionate and caring. She wrote several thought-provoking entries on the Argyle Empire blog and she gave generously to Covenant House Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Sadly, she passed away a couple of years ago. She is greatly missed.
A group of friends and fellow readers, The Muses of Argyle Empire, decided to put together an anthology to celebrate Terry’s life and legacy, donating the proceeds to Covenant House Pennsylvania in her memory. I’m proud to have been invited to write the Foreword to this work. I’m proud of the Muses for this endeavour.
The anthology is entitled “Musings: An Argyle Empire Anthology” and it will introduce you to new writers with unique, engaging voices. Their short stories span genres from romantic comedy to fantasy. You’re going to want to read this anthology. This one’s for Terry.
To quote Proverbs 31: 10 from the Hebrew Bible,
י אֵשֶׁת-חַיִל, מִי יִמְצָא; וְרָחֹק מִפְּנִינִים מִכְרָהּ.
10 A woman of valour who can find? for her price is far above rubies.
The anthology releases June 20th. You can order the ebook on Amazon, as well as the paperback. June 20th is also Argyle Empire’s Fifth Anniversary and they will be celebrating on Facebook. Join the festivities.
Our friend Crissy of Laters, Baby! is hosting a generous giveaway to celebrate the release of the Anthology:
One lucky reader has the chance to win:
Walmart edition of Fifty Shades Darker
Ticket to the February Premiere of Fifty Shades Darker in London
Rita Ora Guilty Grey eye shadow stick
YES key chain
Fifty Shades Darker compact and lip balm
You can learn more about the giveaway and enter it here. Good Luck!
All the best and thank you for reading,
SR.

William and Raven Outtake – Part II
Dear everyone,
I’ve written a second part to the William and Raven outtake I wrote for Trilogia Gabriel. You can read the first part here. The second part (in English) is below and was penned for a chat with O Inferno De Gabriel (Brasil) Facebook group. You can read the Spanish translation here, thanks to Noches en Florencia. You can read the Portuguese translation here, thanks to Andarta of Noites em Florença.
Raven kissed the frown that had overtaken his mouth.
“Thank you for seeing me.” She pressed her lips to his once again.
William brought his arms around her and pulled her to his chest. His lips sought hers and he began to explore her mouth hungrily.
His fingers sought the ribbon she’d used to tie back her hair and he tugged it loose, allowing her long, dark tresses to spill over her shoulders. He continued kissing her, stroking her hair from root to tip.
“William,” she murmured, when his lips dropped to her neck, fluttering over her skin until they came to rest below her left ear.
“I ache for you.” His words were a whisper, but heavy with meaning. He pressed his hips against hers.
“I don’t have anything to give you.” She pressed her hand to his cheek, staring deeply into his eyes.
“You are all I have ever wanted.”
“There must be something.” She searched his eyes. “Something I can do for you?”
He gave her a wolfish grin, his gray eyes twinkling.
“Your wish is my command.” She slid her hands down his front, moving toward his belt.
“Wait.” He touched her hair, winding a lock around his finger. He gazed at it thoughtfully. “In my time, lovers exchanged tokens. A lady would offer her beloved a handkerchief or a lock of hair.” His gray eyes moved to hers.
Raven unwrapped his finger. “I give this gladly.”
William crossed over to an ornate dressing table and opened a drawer. He removed a box and lifted the lid, sifting through the contents. At length he returned to Raven’s side.
In his hand he held a small, round brooch made of gold. “I acquired this during the Renaissance.”
“It’s beautiful.” Raven examined it, marvelling at the carvings on the brooch’s face, which depicted the city of Florence.
William placed his thumb against the edge of the brooch and pressed. The top of the brooch opened to reveal a small, empty space.
“With your permission … “ He gestured to the lock of hair she was holding.
She looked around. “I don’t have scissors.”
William feigned distress. “That’s a pity. We need something sharp.”
Absentmindedly, he touched one of his canine teeth. “This may be sharp enough.”
She grinned. “If you think so.”
“I know so. But I’ll be gentle, Cassita.” He took the lock of hair, measuring a couple of inches from the end. He lifted the hair to his teeth and in one quick, motion, passed the lock against his canine.
The hair separated easily.
“Could you plait it? It will fit more easily.” He handed Raven the lock of her hair and watched as she deftly braided it.
“It’s in want of a ribbon.” He gestured to a yellow bow that was affixed to the top of her sundress.
She undid the bow and severed the ribbon from the dress. She tied the ribbon around the end of the braid.
“Thank you.” William smiled as he fitted the braid into the brooch, looping it in a series of concentric circles. He closed the lid and fastened the brooch to his lapel.
“Now we each have something of the other with us always.” He took Raven’s hand, thumbing the green stone of her ring.
She lifted up to kiss him, sliding her hand to the back of his head.
He suffered her kiss for a moment, then with a growl, lifted her into his arms and carried her to the bed…
Fin.
Thank you for reading and thank you for your support of The Florentine Series and especially its first volume, The Raven.
All the best,
SR

William and Raven Outtake
Dear Everyone,
I’ve penned a new outtake, featuring William and Raven. The outtake was first written for the Trilogia Gabriel podcast, which you can listen to online here. They’ve translated the outtake into Spanish and you can read their translation here. The Noites em Florença podcast posted a Portuguese translation, which you can read here. (You can also listen to their podcasts online)
The English edition of the outtake is below:
“William stood in front of Raven, one of his hands behind his back.
He bent forward to kiss her, his cool mouth gliding over hers.
“Good evening.” The gentle cadence of his English accent caressed her ear, followed by his lips.
“Good evening.” She put the book she’d been reading aside and looked up at him. “Are you hiding something?” She gestured to the hand that remained behind his back.
The edges of his lips turned up. His gray eyes twinkled. “Perhaps.”
“Is it for me?” She angled her body, trying to see his hand.
“Yes.” He touched her face, his brow furrowing in concentration. “You are so beautiful.”
She lowered her gaze. “William,” she murmured.
“I’m afraid I tried to find something comparable to your beauty, but you far outshine everything I’ve found.” He lifted her chin and smiled at her.
He tasted her lips once again and as he was doing so, helped her to stand. He embraced her with his arms, pressing himself against her and deepening his kiss.
His movements were unhurried, languorous, as he moved with her.
He unwrapped her hand from his neck and lifted it to his mouth, pressing a kiss to her palm. Then he placed something on top of her lifeline and closed her fingers around it.
“What is it?” She looked down at her closed hand.
“A gift.” His eyes grew alight.
She opened her fingers to find a ring nestled in the palm of her hand. The band was made of yellow gold and atop it was a large oval green stone.
“It’s beautiful.” She breathed. Her eyes moved to his. “It’s for me?”
He nodded. He took the ring and placed it next to her right eye. “I picked the brightest, greenest emerald I could find. And still, it pales next to the brilliance of your eyes.”
Raven shut her eyes, momentarily overcome.
William’s thumb caressed her cheek until she opened her eyes. He lifted her right hand and slipped the ring on her fourth finger. “In your presence, my love, I find myself without words.”
Raven kissed the frown that had overtaken his mouth.
“Thank you for seeing me.” She pressed her lips to his once again.
Fin.
If you want more of William and Raven’s story, you can pick up “The Raven.” Thank you for reading,
SR

Valentine Outtake – William and Raven (Written First Person)
Dear Everyone,
I hope you had a happy Valentine’s Day. In celebration, Beauty and the Beastly book blog was kind enough to host a special outtake I wrote about William and Raven. This outtake is a little different. If you’ve read The Florentine Series, you know I wrote it third person (as I wrote The Gabriel Series). This Valentine outtake is written from William’s perspective. There aren’t any spoilers, so everyone can read it whether they’ve read The Florentine Series or not. You can read the outtake here.
Ana of SRFansSpain very kindly translated the outtake into Spanish. You can read the Spanish version here. Muchas gracias, Ana.
The first novel in The Florentine Series is The Raven. It’s on sale for $4.99 on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.com.
In case you missed it, I posted a Valentine outtake of Gabriel and Julia a couple of years ago, which you can read here.
All the best and thank you for reading,
SR
