My San Diego Schedule!

A bunch of folks here have asked about it, so here is the schedule stuff I am doing that is open to the public. Come say hello!

SAN DIEGO COMICON 2012 SCHEDULE

THURSDAY

1:00-200: PANEL: PROGRESSIVE POLITICS AND COMICS (Room 32AB)

2:00-3:00: PANEL: BATMAN-BEYOND NIGHT OF THE OWLS (Room 6DE)

4:00-5:00: SIGNING: DC BOOTH

6:00-7:00: PANEL: REWRITING RULES ON QUEERS IN COMICS (Room 32AB)

FRIDAY

4:15-5:15:  PANEL: NEW 52 (Room 6DE)

SATURDAY

10:00-11:00: SIGNING: DC BOOTH

12:00-1:00:  SIGNING AND PORTFOLIO REVIEW: PRISM BOOTH

5:30-7:00:  PANEL: GAYS IN COMICS (Room 6A)

SUNDAY

10:00-11:00: SIGNING: DC BOOTH

The portfolio reviews at the Prism booth are something I very rarely schedule, but it’s for Prism, and those folks are awesome. Please keep in mind if you do show up with a portfolio, I am a writer, not an artist, so I will be looking at your art from the POV of a working writer, and not so much someone who can explain three-point perspective.  ;)

Also, I can’t read any prose that features licensed characters at all. Art is okay, but not a Spider-man pitch, for example, okay?  And while you are there, pick up some Prism comics, they will have a great selection of lgbtq-friendly material, everything from adventure to humor.

REALLY hope to see you there. If I know you by your handle, PLEASE tell me where I know you from and your handle when we meet, okay? I am terrible with names and it will really help me put a face to the name.

Come say hi!

My newest unfinished tattoo. That makes four incomplete tattoos on me. But, this is the best of them. It’s Bane from the cover of Secret Six #35. Shea added a bit more texture than the original picture. I love this and can’t wait to get it finished.

Wow, that is intense!

cosplaying-and-con-etiquette:

The last thing anybody wants to do is find themselves on a bad cosplay blog. Bad cosplay blogs aren’t exactly nice to people, and can say really mean things. The only reason you should submit to a bad cosplay blog, is if that picture is of yourself, and you want to submit it because you know its bad. I once saw somebody take a picture of a pinky pie, and I later over heard them talking about how they only take photos of bad cosplays because they want to submit it to a bad cosplay blog. Its just not right to post pictures of complete strangers on websites and blogs that make fun of them.

If you actually do this? You are a far bigger loser than you can possibly imagine.

Hey, Gail. I was wondering if you play video games. If not, that's fine. If you do, what are some of your favorites?

I play a RIDICULOUS amount of video games, it’s totally embarrassing. I have a ps3, 2 360’s, a 3ds, a couple PSPs, several Gameboys, and several outdated systems just in case. I also have a working VECTREX with a complete library of games right on my desk (look it up, it’s awesome), and a working pachinko machine in my office. I’m pathetic.

I love puzzle games, I love simulation games, fighting games and role playing games. I do enjoy good horror games sometimes. On my ipad, I play a lot of word games. I’m pretty crazy about Skyrim and Lego Batman 2 right now, I always play Lego games to 100% completion.

I’m pathetic!

Just wanted to put this one out there, &, I apologize profusely, to you, in advance, Gail, if you feel upset. I miss him, too. I, honestly, think that we all have to keep his legacy alive, somehow. :) We’re the only ones who can. :’)

No, no, no, it’s great. Listen, Dwayne would be happy to know he was still inspiring writers even though he is no longer with us.

Batgirl vol. 1: The Darkest Reflection HC, written by Gail Simone

The hit DC COMICS - THE NEW 52 series that brought BARBARA GORDON back as Batgirl is collected for the first time! Collects the new BATGIRL #1-6!

This is a really beautiful book, seriously. I am not always happy with the dress of the various collections, but this one is absolutely a pleasure to hold in my hands, they REALLY did a beautiful job with it!

Here's a hypothetical I'm sure I can get away with: If there was any character NOT from comic books you would love to write a comic book about, who would they be, and why? Strictly hypothetical.

Hmm. I’m pretty crazy about the Lord of the Rings, so that’d be way up there, just for personal enjoyment. Fanfiction, really, because I don’t really think anyone else save Chris Tolkien should be writing those characters professionally.
