I think both parties are being rude and should get over it and stop the negativity. Thank you. Buh bye.

I don’t know who the ‘both parties’ you’re talking about are, I don’t believe I’ve said anything negative.

The truth is, this doesn’t sound like Rob to me, Rob is usually very gracious about other people’s work and I don’t remember him ever attacking people by name like this.

So I think he’s just upset, and will get over it, and probably look back and wish he hadn’t said some of this stuff. I have always thought of him as a good guy and continue to think that. People say the wrong things when they are upset, lord knows I have.

Big-Wired's Highlights: My Hubby's Birthday is Monday

And I love that guy!

But for the second year in a row, I’m stumped as to what to get or do for him for his birthday. Normally I am awesome at this, but not this year for some reason.

We can’t go away for a little romantic weekend or anything, we have to stay home due to…

A nice romantic home-cooked meal actually sounds pretty sweet…

YOU GUYS GOT SOME GOOD IDEARS.

What is your opinion on Robert Liefeld's allegations against the DC editorial department? And what is your opinion on the current... catfight between the creative team of Batman and Liefeld on twitter?

I have always had a cordial relationship with Rob. I admire a lot of what he’s done, I broke in on a character he created, he’s always been really nice to me. And I am sorry he had a rough time at DC. It’s been a big year of change and not all of it is pleasant, he has every right to air his side.

But it makes me sad to see people’s names dragged through the mud. Forget DC, if you’d pick three people who are kind, smart, talented, and committed, people I really, REALLY respect and admire, it would be three of the people he’s been ragging on; Brian Smith, Scott Snyder, and David Macho.

I’m not kidding, these are three of the best guys I know. It has nothing to do with DC. Those are three amazing guys who have never been anything but supportive and kind and brilliant to the people they work with. You’d have a hard time finding ANYONE to say a bad thing about them. So it hurts to see them attacked like that.

I’m a fan of Rob’s, one of my most prized pieces of art is a gorgeous Robin page he kindly gave me from our story together years ago.

This hurts, it makes me sad. I know he’s upset, but this just makes me feel terrible to read this stuff. His relationship with DC is his business and he has the right to quit AND the right to say he was unhappy. But the personal attacks, I don’t get it. And it makes me sad, that’s all.

Hello~ My sister is really starting to get into comics, and one thing I'd like to do is find some well written, strong female heroes. She's turning 15, and (I'm so sorry) her mum already veto'd Sinister 6. I was thinking Birds of Prey? Please advise. :)

Yeah, I would highly recommend Birds of Prey, either the old or new versions. She can’t go wrong with any version of Batgirl, I don’t think. Batwoman is excellent. Kelly Sue’s Captain Marvel is grand. A lot of the X-men books feature strong female characters. I feel like I’m forgetting something…hmmm.

APE IN A CAPE: Why Weird Al Is Awesome

APE IN A CAPE: Why Weird Al Is Awesome:

carolineeand:

gailsimone:

This is a little long and may not be interesting to most, but I really wanted to say it.

Okay, it’s like this. I am a Weird Al fan. Nothing remotely ironic about it, he makes me happy. His parodies are funny, and his original material is even better.

I’ve been buying his stuff since I first…

Okay, now do I get to tell my favorite Al story?

I love “Weird Al” because I’m a smart person and my mother raised me right. I remember road tripping to Florida and listening to Buy me a Condo in the car and thinking it was hilarious despite not knowing was a Cuisinart was or why you would buy a t-shirt with an alligator on it. I remember my parents being in the TV room watching something dumb and uninteresting and me being in the music room listening to Like a Surgeon on repeat so I could memorize it. I never stopped going through my “Weird Al” phase.

I moved to Los Angeles after working for Scott for about a year and a half. In that time, my mom had met Scott once at SXSW and they had a brief interaction. About a month after I moved here, my mom came to visit for a week and I asked Scott for permission to bring my mom by Earwolf which he allowed. I didn’t tell her I’d be bringing her when “Weird Al” was going to be there.

As their recording ended, Scott came out and saw me and my mom and introduced himself to her again and said something like “Yeah, I think we met at SXSW.” Al didn’t miss a beat, walked over to her and said “Well I’ve never met you! Hi, I’m Al!”

He couldn’t stay long to chat, but his outgoingness and kindness to my mother will never be forgotten by me. Especially as I continue to put Genius in France and Don’t Wear Those Shoes on my Gettin-Ready-For-Work playlist.

Caroline, that’s another great Al story. And it has the added benefit of being a sweet Hot Saucerman story!

I forgot about Don’t Wear Those Shoes! My favorite Al song for ages.

I have to say, the people I have met in alt comedy have been absolutely wonderful; Patton, Posehn, Eugene, Paul F., Scott, Kulap, Brett, Jon, Todd, James, Tig, Maria, Mike Drucker, Ron Funches, …all have been incredibly sweet and wonderful. I’m forgetting a bunch because it’s early, but I was amazed at how kind they all were.

It’s also surprising how many of them are into comics. I keep wondering what the connection is, there, between stand up and comic books, but there definitely seems to be one.

Also, I want to meet you and hang out!

hugintheraven:

theselfmademen:

This is a boa constrictor, it’s a snake (duh). The way it kills it’s prey is by wrapping itself around it and then squeezing tighter when the victim breathes out. A Boa and an Ace bandage have that in common… An ace bandage is designed to apply pressure to a twisted ankle or wrist. Much like a snake, its function is to hold a body part as tightly as it can and when this method is used in binding, the results can be very dangerous. While it’s elasticity and cheap price may be appealing for those in need of a binder, there is no healthy and safe way to bind using an ace bandage.

Duct tape is another resource many Transguys turn to. This is also very dangerous. In order to get duct tape to produce the desired ‘flat’ appearance, it would have to be extremely tight. When your lungs can’t naturally fill to a normal capacity your body is receiving less oxygen than it should and long term could cause minor brain damage and fatigue. Reoccurring binding sessions can even leave you bruised.

Showing images of ftms using ace bandages to bind has become an iconic form of gender expression. While using it in art to represent binding may occur all over the interwebs, this is NOT a safe way to bind and alternative methods should be used.

Please check out some of our website articles on the topic:

Hudson’s FTM Guide: To Binding

People, crushing your chest is a bad thing, please don’t. I know Hollywood loves it, but Hollywood also loves fighting in high heels and firing 27 bullets from a 12-round mag. Their opinion is not to be trusted.

Did not know this, thank you for the illumination.

These people. I love all of them. Particularly that hot Zatann in front of the middle image.

Yum

Gender flipped Zatanna is her dad Zatara…Otherwise fine.

Are you going to say sex swapped Batman is Batgirl? Cause… NOPE. We chose our redesigns carefully to maintain the specifications of the original characters. Hard to see, but our Black Manary and Zatann are wearing fishnets as a part of their shirts.

Trust me, I designed most of these XD

look at all that pretty

Ahhhhhh!!!!! There’s more GBJLA!!!!!! I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!!! :3

And I must say you did an awesome job with those details! I mean, even Hawkman and Hawkwoman are switched up. Super(wo)man has the little curly que in her hair. It’s just awesome.

I keep on wanting to say which one my favorite is, and then I see the one next to them and I’m like “OMG, that one, no wait,” so I think I’m just gonna say I love them all.

(I can pick out pretty much everyone, but do you have two Hunter/ress cosplays going on, or am I missing who the one with the belly hole is?)
