My poor baby…
I am so worried and so stressed and so overwhelmed.
She has a severe kidney infection, bordering on kidney failure. They did urinalysis, blood work, ultrasound and prescribed a few meds (including my beloved Tramadol, lol).
The vet is extremely worried. They did let us bring her home, but we have to monitor her very closely and bring her back in first thing tomorrow.
This could kill her. She is my best friend. She is my service dog. My helper. She is my everything!
The total bill so far is upwards of $400. I just wrote a check that will overdraft my bank account by more than $260. I have $180 in savings (to go toward my endoscopy…) and so we can drain that to go toward the bill, but otherwise we are fucked.
And rent is due tomorrow. Ha.
If you have been thinking about ordering something from my shop, and you have the funds, please do it now! If you want to request something that is not listed I am happy to accommodate. If you need a discount I can work with that.
If you don’t need anything from Etsy, but have a few extra bucks you, can donate at the link on the left-hand side of my homepage, or at Paypal via thepaperpoppystore AT gmail.com.
Please reblog and spread the word, if you don’t mind…
I hate doing this but she is so important to me, and if I cannot afford the follow up appointments and treatments I could lose her.
I am so scared.

It’s a fair question.
Also, I like this collage!
Aren’t all those panels from Batgirl: Year One?
I think so, except for the main image of Nightwing.
DC Women Kicking Ass: Kick Ass DC Woman Tourney: First Round, First and Second Matches
It’s on! Today is the first day of competition in the:
![]()
And today we have two very exciting matches.
In the first match we have a match-up of two Bat females!
In this corner, the out and proud woman who wants to serve:
![]()
Kate Kane, Batwoman!
and in the other corner, the former girl…
Obviously, you must vote for Kate.
Or she’ll come and kick your ass.
Three ways to Sunday.
And twice again on Monday.
And then again Tuesday.
You get Wednesday off. Comics, after all.
Thursday and Friday, though, she’ll be back.
Saturday… that’s a maybe. Depends how Friday night went, really.
True. But it’s a good thing she’s not up against Helena BERTINELLI because then we would see a RIGHTEOUS ass-kicking.

Here’s the latest white woman to petition the Supreme Court to affirm that she was denied admission to college because of black people. And in her very first news interview, with Adam Liptak of the Times, she says “I probably would have gotten a better job offer had I gone to U.T.” Imagine that! And sure, yes, a plaintiff has to demonstrate injury in order for the court to establish justiciability, but really, from what dark, sequestered, fucked up inner reaches of our national psyche can someone find it in herself to say with a straight face that the reason she didn’t get a better job offer is because she went to one state university instead of another and that because of this highly tenuous leap of reasoning we should therefore dismantle an entire legal framework put in place to ensure that ours isn’t a country where the only people afforded the opportunity to attend college in the first place—and then wonder if they wouldn’t be even better off if they’d been accepted elsewhere—are privileged white people.
Anyway, fuck you lady!
I doubt her current employers will be thrilled to read that she is so unhappy with her job that she is going to the Supreme Court to complain?
Also: “She said her college years at Louisiana State had been fine and that she had enjoyed the camaraderie of the bowling team.”
It’s like everyday the NY Times finds some new way to be horrible.
White feminists should be screaming from the mountaintops in condemnation of this beezy. They should be snatching her and other likeminded women up by the ear & dragging ‘em out back to give them a talkin-to about who’s really been benefitting from Affirmative Action and how much they’re hurting WOC with this oppressive bullshit. So where are they?
I still want to know how entitled you have to be to think that average grades & scores = automatic admission to your first choice school. Especially when you consider that she didn’t even attempt to raise her grades with a few months of community college, or try to transfer in for her sophomore year. UT has already said she didn’t meet the admissions standard even before other factors were introduced.
a fine example of a self-centered, horrific human being
blech.
I almost can’t deal with how totes oppressed she is in this photo. FEEL HER SAD.

This is Carrie’s 2nd DC costume to date. The girl loves her some “Super Best Friends” forever, which is pretty much the only format I’ve been able to enjoy the character in that wasn’t a one-shot or something. Kit’s Kara is also dope. It just KILLS me that they couldn’t find a hyperactive Batgirl to pal around with.
That is awesome.
This makes me happy!

I drew this last night while I was waiting for a meeting to start. It’s King Shark from Gail Simone’s Secret Six (well, she didn’t create him, but I think of him as hers). I wanted to Archie-ize him like I’ve done for the rest of the team, but he doesn’t lend himself to Dan DeCarlo’s models, so I went with another cartooning style. Hee.
Pitt pens on crappy sketchbook paper (that was bleeding all over the place).
This combines two things I like!
Wonderful!

"…even while in…slavery, their lives as Americans are likely much better than they ever would have..."
-
Arkansas state Rep. Jon Hubbard, (Republican)
OH MY FUCKING GOD. I can’t. Yes, slave’s lives were sunshine and rainbows and indigenous Africans were barely surviving before Europeans came along.
Does Jon Hubbard forget that slaves weren’t citizens and therefore weren’t Americans? Does Jon Hubbard forget that African countries were doing JUST FINE before Europeans exploited the fuck out of them? Does Jon Hubbard forget regardless of circumstances, living a FREE LIFE is 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000x better than being a slave?
What the hell would possess someone to share this vitriole?
Why do our government representatives ignore actual history?
DO BETTER WHITE PEOPLE.

You have GOT to be kidding.

Important to remember he is just one of at least THREE GOP lawmakers to recently state this sentiment and receive absolutely zero negative feedback on it until liberal news sites and social media started spreading the story.
These aren’t new or recent statements, for the most part, these people have been saying this for years and the GOP didn’t care, until getting embarrassed right before the election.
