I love your character work in ensemble books like Secret Six and I'd like to ask, have you thought of writing a feature film? (doesn't have to be super-heroes)

Well, I did write a Wonder Woman animated screenplay, and I have been asked to write movies several times. I have consulted on a few film scripts. I was asked to write a film for Roger Corman. But it’s never been a huge priority or it didn’t work out for one reason or another. I’ve had consulting meetings with a few n big name producers.

I have to say, if I did write a movie, I would most like to write some sleazy b-movie thing, seriously. That sounds fun..,a low budget horror or sf film. But it’s not an urgent career goal, I don’t feel any need to “graduate” from comics,

Hey Gail! I was wondering, what was the first ever superhero/heroine that you fell in love with? :)

Batgirl, from television, Wonder Woman in the comics.

This is a personal question. Are you a bunny rabbit?

Rabbits are Lagomorphs!

Hello, again! Just wondering if any of your favorite recipes have ever crept up in a comic book work you have done. :)

Yes, in a couple books…I put an entire meat loaf recipe in Welcome to Tranquility.

This is a personal question. Are you gay?

No.

I am asked this a lot, not sure why it’s important.

Edited this extra bit because the comment makers below are right, visibility for lgbtq creators is lacking, and important. Apologies for not considering that as a possible reason for the anonymous ask.

I have been asked about it a lot, quite often from people who wish I would just shut up about supporting lgbtq people, creators, causes, whatever. I made an assumption and my response reflected that. Shouldn’t have answered a potentially important question in haste. Sorry, everyone.

My dad works for a magazine and he gets freebies all the time. I was wondering what sweet comic merch you've collected over the years and what your favorites are?

That’s the amazing thing about my job…people give you things, and you WANT to tell them that it isn’t necessary, that their support is enough. But you can’t, because a) they spent the time to make/buy/cook/sew/draw the items, and b) BECAUSE THE GIFTS ARE SO COOL.

I have been given tons of stuff by companies, lots of movies, games, toys, clothes, other stuff like that. Very much appreciated.

But the two things that are the most meaningful are:

1) Art. I love it all, I can’t draw so seeing art from new artists, and webcomickers, and children is a big deal. And being given art by artists you love, like Michael Golden, Ethan Van Sciver, Aaron Lopresti, Bernard Chang, Bruce Timm, Nicola Scott, Darwyn Cooke, etc…that’s HUGE.

2) Gifts from readers. Again, they don’t have to do this. I feel like I should be gifting THEM for the support. But they have brought me toys, clothes, action figures, dolls, stuffed animals, snacks, cultural items, jewelry, books, statues, games…just on and on and on, so many  things I have a room just for those things. And they are very meaningful to me, AND many are completely home-made.

You can’t put a price on that, it’s just something that you treasure.

gail i dont get how you patronize cyber bullying by a group of fanatics to people that just have a different point of view in the new dc52 shame on you!!

Wha?

I have no idea what this is in reference to. I don’t like cyber-bullying of any kind, even when I agree with the people doing it.  Can you tell me what you are referring to?

Nine times out of ten, when someone yells at me for ‘supporting’ something going on online, I have no idea what they’re talking about and some casual comment has been conflated into a ringing endorsement, somehow.

But maybe that’s not the case here. Tell me who it is I am supposedly supporting in their cyber bullying?

Hey, y'know how some of the X-men students have their own twitter accounts, updated kinda semi-regularly? Would you ever give one of YOUR characters their own twitter accounts? (and if this has already happened, link me, PLEASE!)

HA! I have some pro friends who have made hilarious extra accounts, Matt Fraction was hilarious at this a while back.

My memory is not good enough to keep track of my OWN identity, let alone several!
