princelesscomic:

Attention creators!  Princeless nearly swept the Glyph’s last year and I certainly don’t want to this year, because that means not enough of you are submitting!

So…

If you are a Creator of Color

Or/And your comic features black characters or black issues, get your stuff ready and submit it to the Glyph Awards, THE award show that was created to honor black creators and characters in comics!

This is a GREAT award and it’s very important to spread the word about the great work the GLYPH people do and what it symbolizes.

PLEASE reblog. Help support creators and characters and publishers of color in the comics industry!

I don't suppose any of your upcoming DC projects involve Stephanie or Cassandra? *feels a tiny itty bitty glimmer of hope*

I don’t want to give out false hope…but not at this time. I’m sorry.

I tried, guys, but it just doesn’t seem to be happening yet. I’m hoping there are plans but I have no inside knowledge at all.

A Thought

For some people, the holidays are not a joyful time filled with loved ones and presents.

For some people, this is a lonely, sad time that can add to personal difficulties for any number of reasons. For some people, this is a time where the struggle against depression is particularly hard, and they may not have any support system to help bring a little cheer to their day.

So this really IS a good time to be a little extra kind to both strangers and friends. Even just a kind word on the internet can mean a lot right now. If you can do some kindnesses to people unexpectedly and without thought of reward, it’s all the more meaningful.

If you are in the situation I’m talking about, and you’re reading this on my tumblr, you are in my thoughts, and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the kind support over the years. Many, MANY times when I’ve been down, some silly photo or some beautiful piece of fan art, or some lovely cosplay, or some goofy joke here has cheered me up tremendously, and you guys make that happen almost every day.

So thank you, all the love in the world, and I am hoping for happy times for you sooner than you could possibly expect it. You are important, people do appreciate you, even if it’s long-distance and through handles and reblogs. There are many kinds of friends, there’s no one right way to be meaningful to others.

Thank you, you are very much appreciated.

Is DC gonna provide a timeline so we can distinguish between that Gail Simone and this Gail Simone? And is there a Gail Simone Prime who has a room wherein she keep monkeys dressed like her characters?

We don’t think a timeline is necessary, it would just confuse people.

Most everyone understands that there are multiple Gail Simones.

I am so freaking happy Gail Simone is back writing Batgirl! Batgirl pics! *excited flailing*

Dying of envy!! And joy!!

I join you in the joy! But no need for envy, that’s the best part of cosplay. Anyone can be Batgirl! You can be Batgirl too! ^___^

I think I might try it, your costume is so PERFECT! I’d wear that belt every day! And fuck yeah, Gail Simone! I saw she reblogged this set too :D

Honest to god, if they were ever to create a completely new Batgirl, this look is amazing…Jay’s features and that BEAUTIFUL HAIR just exploding out the back like that, with the solid black/yellow color scheme, I would write that EVERY DAY.

These pictures are ridiculous. So amazing.

This is going to sound ridiculous, but I'm sad that you accepted DC's offer to take back Batgirl. If it's what you truly want, then I'm happy for you, but I can't help but feel like they made a serious mistake and, maybe it's petty of me, but I wanted them

No worries, I received several notes like this. I understand, I know everyone means well.

But there are several things here, some I can’t talk about yet.

First, good faith.

When the thing first happened, I was pretty down, it was my last book at DC and clearly it was a sad thing to happen for everyone.

But I got calls and emails from all the bigwigs at DC immediately, and they were incredibly supportive and kind, and they made it very clear that they wanted me to be happy, and that they still wanted to work with me. Not just sympathy, but practical plans for the future as well. From everyone, including some projects I could not have imagined in my wildest dreams.

I was very touched. It meant a lot to me.

And for the record, I didn’t do any sort of ‘power play,’ to get Batgirl back, I didn’t even know that option was on the table.

But they promised to work with me and look at our options, and they FOLLOWED THROUGH. That’s a big deal. It’s easy to make empty promises, but they followed through both personally and professionally.

And I have to say, even if nothing had worked out, even if I’d still been mad, it is not in my nature to try to hurt people I’ve enjoyed working with for years. Writing comics is my dream job, I’ve loved doing it. Because of DC, I’ve gotten to write Wonder Woman, Black Canary, Batgirl, the Secret Six, on and on. I’ve gotten to travel the world, work with amazing artists…I wouldn’t forget all of that over a disagreement.

They went way above and beyond to try to make this right for everybody.  They did. The whole story isn’t out yet, but a lot of people took this very, very seriously and went to bat for me, and they did it in good faith. I could not have expected this result, I didn’t even know it was a possibility.

There are things that I still want to do in Batgirl, things that are personally important to me. That’s a big reason to come back, right there.

I don’t have ‘Stockholm Syndrome,’ I have left many books in the past when I felt it was not comfortable to stay. I had many other offers (some of which I am still doing, by the way).

DC didn’t NEED to ask me back and I didn’t NEED to stay. It happened because we all talked in good faith and had very frank, open, helpful conversations. My nature is that if someone reaches a hand out to you sincerely, that you take it and extend your own.

And there’s more announcements to come, very cool stuff that people will never be expecting in a million years. Thrilling stuff that I have dreamed of doing for a long time.

On top of that, we all talked out the Batgirl stuff, our bat-team, and it’s been lovely. I swear, the issue I come back on, 19, is just ridiculous. People will be talking about what happens in that book for ages.

I’ll be able to talk more about some of this stuff, soon. But I strongly feel that in light of those discussions, I made the right decision.

Are you the Gail Simone that wrote Batgirl, or the Gail Simone that will be writing Batgirl?

Look, this is really very simple, I don’t understand why it’s confusing.

Gail Simone was the writer on Batgirl but Gail Simone was taken off Batgirl but now Gail Simone is back on Batgirl which will now be written by Gail Simone.

SIMPLE.

:)
