Ever consider writing a story revolving around a University Student in Germany, that discovers her familyline has been tasked to be the Slayers of Dragons?! Which were thought to be mere myth, but turn out to be so much worse than any nightmare!?
That’s pretty darn specific, there. :)
I would have to say, “no.” Sorry!
Have you ever had an awkward situation (IRL or online) having to deal with people you knew were not big fans of your work?
I’m usually fine with it, sometimes it’s hard not to take it a little personally. We all say we don’t, but we all do at least a little bit.
If someone’s civil and hates your work, all you can do is suggest books they might actually like. You kind of shrug your shoulders and try to be polite and kind. It’s not their responsibility to like your work, it’s not their obligation.
Sometimes, I don’t know what reaction people are looking for. Sometimes they just come right AT you at a con, or even online, and they want you to justify WHY you did a certain choice they don’t like. There’s no good response, because if they’re that upset, no answer will really change that. I never know what to say when that happens.
Most readers are very sincere and honest and if they don’t like something, they might say it and maybe you can discuss it a little. If you come in with guns blazing, I honestly don’t know what reaction it is you”re hoping for.
And of course a few times in the past someone’s said something and I’ve overreacted, that happens too, but my feelings about that have changed. I feel that I do the best I can, I try to tell quality stories that respect the characters…people may disagree with stories, but I think even people who hate my guts know I care about the characters.
What did you thought of the Storm and Black Panther marriage? Fan or no fan?
I didn’t read the actual story, I’m sorry to say. Love those two characters, though!
Hello. I just want to apologize. I didn't understand the context of that Secret Six excerpt and I was rude. I feel really bad about what I said.
Not at all, don’t give it a second thought. Violent panels out of context CAN be really nauseating.
miss simone, i've heard that gen 13 was actually pretty mediocre to begin with, but was saved by writers like you, warren ellis, adam warren, and the like. what are your thoughts on this?
I don’t know that that’s true, the book was a huge hit almost from the start and some of the early stuff was really good.
I don’t remember Warren Ellis working on it, but Adam Warren may have done the best run of all.
Great characters, lovely series!
It's come up a couple times now, so I have to ask: Will you ever be on Comedy Bang Bang again? It kills me that the recording was erased!
They have asked me a couple times. Scott Aukerman is absolutely a doll and I adore him, and his equally wonderful wife Kulap has asked me to be on her show with Howard Kremer, WHO CHARTED. But the timing hasn’t really worked out.
They’re so hilarious I’m sure I’d only ruin the show anyway, for real.

“I… I’m a little child. I am very small and shan’t be seen.”
You know, when I see stuff like this I get sick. Sick in my stomach. That’s not just messed up. It’s sick. I don’t know what’s going on, but I don’t like it. I hate characters who do stuff like this.
I mean who was that guy? Why did she kill him?
Secret Six was a brutal book, but this is a little bloodier than I prefer.
She doesn’t kill anyone here, that’s Catman she slices, and the wound is superficial.

hahhah, Kid Apollo faints & Daybreaker to the rescue, ohgosh
Then there was the time Grunge grew a pair of breasts and panicked.
Writing the book was a joy.

I’ve been reading a lot of post Worldstorm, Gen13 books and this part was the funniest part of the issue.I think they’d make a cute couple.
Rainmaker and I agree!
