I heard they replaced Ray Fawkes with somebody named Gail Simone on Batgirl. Can you vouch for her?

I heard she’s a HORRIBLE human being! Also, she thinks Kid Flash is AQUAMAN! :)

Potentially stupid question, but any chance you'll be at SupaNova Sydney next year in Australia, Gail? I've got so much I wanna ask you!!!

I don’t think Sydney is in the cards, I’m sorry, not this year. I will be at Supanova in Melbourne, the Gold Coast, and at SwanCon in Perth, though!

[The All New Atom #17]

All I want is Ryan Choi to come back to life and date Giganta and then somewhere down the track she’ll propose and they’ll get married and have lovely size-changing babies and they’ll kind of fight crime together sometimes but she’ll still be a bad girl at heart even though she’ll temper herself for his sake so when she does villainy things he’ll just tag along on her exploits fretting and worrying and making sure she and Wonder Woman don’t beat on each other too badly and the hero community just won’t understand but they will be in love forever.

As a sidenote, I’m discovering that some of the comics I enjoyed a while back were actually written by Ms. Simone.  I thought I hadn’t read anything by her, but there you go.

all of this! but how did Patton Oswalt get involved? and now i am craving Patton/Gail collaboration fun times?

Patton Oswalt is a friend, he’s one of the sweetest and most generous people I’ve ever met. And like a surprising amount of successful stand-up comedians, he is a stone cold comic book fan.

If I remember correctly, we were talking about the Atom before issue One came out, and he said he had always wanted to see the Atom have a giant girlfriend. It’s been a long time but I’m pretty sure that was how it went. I remember finding out that there’s actually a whole fetish thing about smaller guys being, essentially, crushed by much larger women, and that seemed like it would add an interesting note of spice in the soup.

But in the end, it was simply the contrast that appealed to me. Shrink Guy and Grow Girl, you can’t beat that. But also, they were a blast to write together…Ryan makes her want to go straight, that’s good drama right there.

Last pic of the year, Bat-Girl! Done as a xmas prez for Heslop int office. Merry Xmas!

Thanks Jardine!  This is some seriously lovely work.  Although technically it’s Batgirl (Babara Gordon) not Bat-Girl (Bette Kane), but hey!

In all seriousness, thanks very much Jards - this is fantastic.

That’s really cute!

Hi Gail! You've mentioned getting gifts of food. What is the etiquette for giving edible gifts to people at conventions? I always want to make something to give to creators, but what with allergies and dietary restrictions and security concerns, I alway

It IS a little tricky. Packaged stuff is usually okay, homemade stuff, unless the person knows you really well, it actually is pretty risky.

I have to be gluten-free and I’m allergic to apples, so I have to pass on most home-made stuff just to be sure, sorry as it makes me when someone goes to all that trouble.

But honest, I promise, we are always delighted just to see you guys. The support is plenty, it’s a wonderful gift in itself.
