Is it just me, or was Babs usually drawn with bigger gobangaloos as Oracle than she was/is drawn as Batgirl? Could this have been because the artists thought that it was the only way to show a disabled girl as attractive? This is just speculation, of cours

This stuff is always tricky and each artist does it differently, sometimes Oracle was downright Power Girl-esque.

With Batgirl, she’s much younger and she’s supposed to have more of a dancer’s figure (ballet), which still could mean many different things.

As I say, this stuff is always tricky. I want a variety of body shapes in comics, and every artists seems to bring their own feel to it.

miss simone, would you say i'm racist for actually LOVING django unchained? i mean, i can understand why some people would raise an eyebrow at aspects of it, but i honestly don't think it was racist. i know just because the black actors in it are defendi

Well, hmm.

First, I haven’t seen Django Unchained. I’ve been keeping up with the controversy a little bit but I’ve been swamped with deadlines and am not completely informed.

Second, there are literally millions of people on Tumblr more qualified to talk about race issues in media than I am, actual people of color who have made a life study of it even beyond experiencing it every day of their lives.

I appreciate the question, but you should really ask someone who is more of an authority.

I love Barbara. A lot. If she was real, I dare say I would ask her if she would do me the very great honor of being my special potato salad forever and always. On a scale of 1 to 10, how messed up do you think this is?

Everyone should have a potato salad (if they want one!).

And being in love with Barbara just shows you have common sense and good taste. :)

I salute you. Not only for being awesome. But for shedding a little light on subject matter many are scared of.

Which subject is that, Amber?

Thank you, though!  :)

Will you follow me because I love you and will vanquish evil in your name?

Well.

If you promise to vanquish a POOPTON of evil.

I feel like I missed something. What is/are bonerses?

I said on Twitter that the reason Gollum hated Bilbo wasn’t because Bilbo stole the ring, but because he gave Gollum #bonerses and it became a trending topic for a good while. BONERSES.

Also, I am super classy and sophisticated, it’s obvious.

I originally had this thought...

illumistrations:

I originally had this thought in my head to post the best images I’ve done for 2012 to sort of chronicle the growth I’ve had over the course of the year…and then I thought…what would be better than that??  You know what could be better?? How about…

~~**Illumistration’s End of Year Art Print Giveaway!!!!**~~

image

That’s right!!  All of these images above (plus maybe one or two more thrown in for good measure) will be given away to a lucky winner!  But that’s not all…I’ll be giving away a runner up prize as well (consisting of 5 of the prints listed above).  So, I know what you’re thinking: “What do I have to do to enter this and be able to win??”  Well, let me tell ya…all you have to do is reblog this post (sorry, likes are cool but they don’t count).  You can only reblog this post once for an entry.  Want to increase your chances??  Just “like” my page on Facebook and that will be counted as another entry!  That means if you reblog and like my page, thats twice the entries!!

And PLEASE, don’t be THAT GUY and erase the source information from this post.

This contest will end next Monday (December 17) so hopefully I’ll be able to ship this stuff out and it will get to you before the holidays.  And if you somehow win and don’t really want the prints, just let me know in advance so that I can choose another winner.  Its like people DON’T WANT my FREE prints…

Good Luck everyone!!

I’m here for all of this.

Well, that’s impressive!
