If you don’t know who she is, SHAME ON YOU.

I swear, my favorite Marvel villain is the Rhino.

It’s a guy who is a RHINO.

“I hesitate to even repeat it, you know the drill. Too much “gay stuff,” blah blah blah. Several people wrote and said they could, “no longer support the book,” often because of their religious beliefs. Fair enough, I would respond, that’s your problem, …but you’re okay with the cannibalism and necrophilia? A book where two characters have dinner on decomposed flesh is fine, but HOLY SHIT DON’T LET TWO WOMEN KISS. ;)”

I still get some of this sometimes, but now it’s tempered with complaints about social justice in general.

Hey Gail. What was your favorite comic book when you were a child?

Justice League. I had to have every issue I could get.

I know it sounds corny, but I LIKED that they got along, and were friends. I understand why some people preferred Marvel-style bickering, but I had plenty of that shit in my home in my real life.

It was NICE to see heroes who liked each other and had each others’ backs.

Miss Simone? I was wondering: do you think those of us who have mental or physical disabilities or abnormalities who WANT to overcome them should be ashamed for doing so? To be clear, I fully support and am in awe of those who choose to fully embrace tho

I think this is a very astute question, thank you.

I don’t think anyone gets to judge that choice but the person in question. For ages, all us people with able privilege lived with the myth that EVERY person with a disability would happily trade for a chance to be ‘normal,’ but that clearly isn’t the case. And many people believe that who they are is just fine and they wouldn’t trade, and good for them for exploding that myth.

But I don’t think anyone gets to judge anyone either way.

As for disability being a sign of weakness…people who think that must not know any people with disabilities, I guess. Urgh.

So this is an odd one…Based on a conversation on twitter with one of my favourite Comic writers, Gail Simone (of Birds of Prey and Secret Six Fame) I present to you Cutie Paws Agent of Shield as today’s sketch.

This is why I love Twitter. I said a goofy ass thing, that there should be a dog agent of Shield, AGENT OFFICER CUTIE PAWS, and almost immediately, this AWESOME DRAWING appears!

Seriously, honest to god. Would you not be MUCH more excited for the Shield show if Agent Officer Cutie Paws was going to be on it every week?

Gail, be fair. I was actually on Twitter (rare for me) watching it happen. You were kind of going on about it a lot before a sketch was made.

???  My point wasn’t that I wasn’t doing a running joke, I was.

My point was that the artist whipped out this hilarious sketch in no time flat.

I don’t know how cartoonists and artists do it, it leads to much amazement.

this is probably a bad question to ask you and maybe your followers could provide a better answer if they know, but I have a friend who is deaf/hard of hearing and I suggested she attend a few anime/comic conventions with me at some point in the future bec

Wow.

This is a great question, I’m kind of ashamed I don’t know the answer. I’ve paid a lot more attention to disability-friendliness and accessibility at conventions lately (sadly, it doesn’t seem to be a priority at many, yet). But I’m not aware of specific programs for the hearing impaired.

A lot of the anime shown at cons is subtitled, I imagine she would be okay there, I don’t think cosplay needs to be heard to be enjoyed…It SEEMS like most things, except maybe panels, would have easy access for your friend, but I don’t want to speak for people who are hearing impaired.

So I’ll throw it out…anyone out there with experience relating to this question?

You know who you should write? Barbara Gordon. I think you'd do a good job with her.

I’m sorry, but Gail Simone is off of Batgirl and has been replaced by Gail Simone.

WOW.  Look at this MAGNIFICENT piece of art featuring Mary the Talon, known as Strix!

That is simply gorgeous.

DAMN.  This artist needs to draw ALL THE TIME. Look at that!

Edited to add: Her real name is Mary, she doesn’t remember her last name. She is a Talon, and her Birds of Prey codename is STRIX.

Edited to add: This artist is FIFTEEN YEARS OLD.
