Who drew that BOP page you posted earlier? Barbara is so pretty in it.

The amazing Brazilian artist Adriana Melo, I believe. She could be a star with the right book, she’s incredibly talented! She drew Rose and Thorn for me!

Have you ever been invited to write for a movie? Do you often ponder on the fact that movies of superheroes have historically not been written by those who know the genre? Or is hollywood just a big beast that chews everyone up?

Lots of times, I have been asked to either write or pitch for a movie.

I know a lot of writers, they can’t wait to do film instead. I like writing comics.

I don’t know if Hollywood is that much different than most other corporate-run entertainment media. Most of the people I have met from there have been very passionate about their work.

I forget, what was King Shark again? Was he one of those Swedish Gummy Fish?

No. Look.

He’s a shark. King Shark is a SHARK.

>=»!!

That is my awkward attempt at a Shark emoticon. YOU’RE WELCOME.

Hi Gail, I wasn't a DC person until the new 52, and now I get most of the DC titles and I love them all. I feel the artwork and writing is besting a lot of the Marvel titles, even the new Marvel Now. I love your work on Bat-Girl and I have a question. She

I think Harley could carry a book with the right team, absolutely. She did for quite a while, actually, and she’s a big part of the success of Suicide Squad. I don’t think I’m the right person for the book, really, but I’d sure like to see it happen.

And Batgirl keeps the Batcycle in her van, which is actually equipped with some pretty impressive anti-surveillance gear.

If a character you've never written before is appearing in your title, how do you make sure you get them right? Are there memos on each character to keep their personalities consistent across writers and titles? How do you keep histories straight with the

Usually, it’s editorial’s job to make sure you don’t mess up with previous appearances. We do the research we can, and editorial will often send us additional issues or books to figure out what we need to know about a character. Then OUR editor talks with THEIR editor.

It’s a good system, but I prefer to also talk with the writer of the other book, if the character is still appearing in one, and the character’s creator, if possible. So everyone is connected and okay with it.

We don’t have memos about individual characters. But if, say, there’s a crossover, there are usually shared documents going back and forth with the main writer of that crossover. Scott Snyder writes big, intricate backstories, they’re as cool to read as they are to write from.

Sometimes I will use a reader or another pro as a resource, if there’s a character I am shaky on. At this point, the New52 is so new that we usually only have to coordinate with one or two writers to get stuff right.

There was no backstory meeting or timeline meeting precisely, but there were a lot of documents early on nailing some things down. They wanted the timeline to be open to new ideas, which leads to some continuity conflicts but also prevents everyone from feeling too restricted.

What comic book creators do you think are the most entertaining tweeters? Other than you, of course. :P

Matt Fraction, G. Willow Wilson, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Marjorie M. Liu, Scott Snyder, Neil Gaiman, and Evan Dorkin spring to mind.

The people who just use Twitter to promote their stuff, I get it, but I don’t really follow them. I like people who use the format to say interesting things.
