"The Movement" Cookie #1 — Katharsis

From its debut, I’ve been quite enamoured with Gail Simone’s comic series “The Movement" and being able to meet Gail herself and get my issue #1 signed in Wellington this year was simply mindblowing (she said she liked my bag, haha!).  While brainstorming for new baking experiments, I decided to base a series of cookies on the lead characters of “The Movement", starting with my current favourite, Katharsis.  Katharsis is a badass ex-cop who seems violence-prone and, just like these chilli chocolate cookies, packs a mean punch.  These cookies, adapted from GuiltyKitchen are full of sweetness, saltiness, and raw heat.

Find out how you can make them below the cut!

Okay. Gonna HAVE to make these amazing sounding cookies!

I know that creators pitches for characters/series can be denied just as quickly as they were thought up, but is it possible for creators to pitch creative teams to editorial? Not a writer suggesting an artist they want to work with but say you think Write

Editors really like to come up with these things themselves. I have been successfully able to get several artists and a couple writers their first pro work but that is after years of trying. It is VERY difficult for a creator to get work for another creator at DC and Marvel, at least.

It might be easier at the other companies.

What books are the characters in The Movement from? I've seen Katharsis in Batgirl, but am unfamiliar with the other characters. Are they original, or have they appeared in other books before?

Katharsis is from Batgirl, Rainmaker (not an official member at this time, but definitely in proximity) was originally a member of Gen13.

The rest are new to the book, but a couple might have connections to previous DC characters!

dashingcripple:

though the changes in the next few days may be hard, my life may be difficult. that’s what i do. its kind of sad i know, but id be weaker if id never read them and i’m stronger because they exist. my wonderful misfits, my fictional family of freaks. …the anxieties melt, the stress evaporates and for a little while, i feel like a person.

i’d thank Gail again if i didn’t do that every ten minutes and it wasn’t massively tiresome.

You don’t need to thank me at all, this note is going to keep me gleeful for a long time.

:)

Hope all your changes turn out for the best, whatever they are!
