The BEST Things...
…that happened yesterday were getting to meet the massive DC STEAMPUNK cosplay group (I swear, they were AMAZING, unbelievably clever and stunning outfits) and then the PERFECT, FLAWLESS Vengeance Moth cosplayer (who coincidentally happened to be the Tumblr poster who INSPIRED VM!).
Best day ever. Those guys brought me so much joy.

Hi there! At the repeated nudging of my friends, I figured I’d send you a photo of my silly little handmade Ragdoll ragdoll. I hope you get a kick out of it ^__^
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH.
So, I had been meaning to buy the new Tomb Raider game for a while now, but never got around to it. Then I heard you were going to be writing the new Tomb Raider comic that directly follows the game. That was yesterday. I now own the game and am loving it
I am the first to admit I made good fun of the initial PR report for the game. I hate to keep beating a dead horse but whoever did the initial publicity REALLY did a disservice to the game by talking about how you would want to ‘protect’ Lara.
I get what he meant, I think…you care so much about her in the game, it’s upsetting when she dies. But I don’t want to ‘protect’ Lara, I want to BE Lara. And this game delivers that.
I think it is the most human, immersive game experience I have ever played, and Lara is FLAWLESS in it. It feels like Batman: Year One to me, here’s Bruce Wayne before he becomes THE BATMAN in all caps, you know?
I loved it, I played it til the end, bought all the outfits. I am pathetic. :)
But I love it. Writing young Lara at this stage in her life is JOY.
Just finished Red Sonja number 1. Stellar writing from you as always. I may even be able to get my wife to read this one as well because the only time she doesn't tune me out when I'm talking comics is when I mention something you've written. In a time of
Thank you, I hope she likes it! Let me know!
We actually had Ragdoll in a scene in Batgirl, fighting her….I even wrote the entire scene. But then they asked for changes in the issue (understandable changes, to focus the story a bit) and the scene was dropped.
I PROMISE I am trying to bring back several benched characters!
Could you ever see yourself writing a protagonist that is unapologetically fat? Its kind of grating to see comics be progressive on so many fronts but have fat people still regulated to villain or comedy relief.
Yeah, I should have done this ages ago. I have a character who is overweight coming soon in the Movement.
Congratulations on getting to write the Tomb Raider comic! Is the new comic set after the events of the new game or is it a separate continuity?
Totally in-canon, set just weeks after she leaves the island. You won’t have to have read the game to follow the story. But if you’ve played the game at all, you will WANT THIS BOOK.

Have you read novelist Pat Roesle's writeup of his favourite 20 moments from Secret Six? It's on his blog "Beyond Easy", and he points out an interesting parallel between the Knightfall arc and a scene with Bane in SS.
I haven’t, do you have a link?
My Schedule For Friday at SDCC!
Okay, I don’t have any official signings today. But I will be at the DC booth some, so if you see me, or if you see me after a panel, I will be happy to sign your books for you if you like!
I have three panels.
10:00 DC panel, How I Got Started Writing Comics, room 6de
4:00 Dark Horse panel (Now, this one has been secret…wonder what it’s about?) room 7ab
5:30 DC panel, THE NEW 52 room 6de
These are my last dc panels this con, and the Dark Horse one should be HUGE fun so I hope you guys all come to see!
Brin's Convenience: Best Moment Of Yesterday At SDCC
A LOT of things happened that made me really happy, but my favorite moment came during the DC All Access panel yesterday.
We were all talking about things that we had coming up in our books, and then the audience question time came and the questions were about that, all fine.
"Barbara is the implausable one."
Sorry, but I just applauded out loud. What an awesome sentiment!
Can I ask you a question? Do you think after everything he's done over the years, does The Joker deserve to die? I don't mean have Batman kill The Joker, I mean have the court give Joker the Death Penalty (despite whatever Insanity plea, bribe or lawyer he
I think the Joker is a special case. I’m against the death penalty, but he’s shown over the years that 1) he WILL escape and 2) he WILL murder every chance he gets.
I am against the death penalty. But killing the Joker means saving hundreds of lives, maybe more.
A very tough call.
