Ms. Simone, you are one of my favorite writers, not just in comics, but overall. I don't want to come off as someone who can't take the heat other people give about their company, because there's always room for more representation. I just hate the tumblr
Marvel has not ALWAYS been a super-progressive company, I guarantee it. Neither has DC.
I really prefer to focus on the good stuff that’s happening, it’s just more my nature. I know there’s stuff that needs improving at both companies and I’m all for speaking out about that.
But I do love when something like Ms. Marvel hits, the fact that it’s Marvel doesn’t bother me, I’m just happy it’s out there.
Okay.
I know I’m late on this, but I am REALLY enjoying a terrific graphic novel called WATSON AND HOLMES by writer Karl Bollers and artist Rick Leonardi.
This is a really thrilling story so far, I’ve only just started and I had to put it down long enough to recommend it.
It’s on Comixology in single issues or collection,

And this is the website:

Really just one of the best books I’ve read in a good while. Highly recommended!
EDITED TO ADD: I just found out they have a Kickstarter going for another day or so and are not quite THERE yet, so please consider checking this out and maybe shooting a few bucks their way…rewards start with very small donations!

Ms. Simone, lately there's been a terrible bias against DC perpetuated by quite a number of Marvel Movie and Comic fans on this site, claiming that DC is too far behind Marvel's gender/racial diversity by claiming that they have a muslim/latin superhero bu
I’ll be honest, this is not a recent thing.
I hear people talking about this as if it’s a relatively new phenomenon, carried by ‘social justice warriors’ or whoever, but I don’t think that’s true.
It’s always pretty much been the case that hardcore followers of one company tend to slag off the other. I think for the most part, it’s just similar to sports fans who follow one team over another. They love one team, hate the other, even if the players end up switching teams all the time.
I think that’s fine, it’s kind of fun, I don’t get too upset about it.
It goes back and forth, there was a time when Marvel was more progressive, then DC was, then Marvel again. I haven’t sat down to work out which company is really doing better along those lines, really.
All I know is what I am seeing at cons, which is what I really love, TONS of young women dressed as Ms. Marvel, Captain Marvel, and America Chavez. While I can’t help being delighted to see so many Scandal Savages, Black Canaries, and Harleys. I love seeing all those great female characters really grabbing imaginations, I don’t frankly care which company does them, as long as they are both trying.
Both companies do great stuff and both companies stumble. I think DC is doing some really cool stuff with lgbtq and POC and female characters. I don’t keep up with the news at Marvel QUITE so much (just because I am busy) but it looks like they are doing a bunch of great stuff.
I don’t really take offense if someone likes one company over the other. I like to tease my friends at Marvel, and they kid me back, but in the end, we are all friends.
I love Kelly Sue and G. Willow Wilson, I love Scott Snyder and Marguerite Bennett. I will follow them whichever company they work for.
I hope that makes sense and I understood your question?

I made this my screensaver, too! Gorgeous piece by Fiona Staples!
Can I still support a comic series if I wait for the trade paperbacks? There are so many great female led books out right now and I want to support them but after all those months of waiting, will my purchase even count for anything as far as the publisher
It absolutely does!
Different publishers work differently, some don’t pay royalties on tpbs, but I strongly feel like that is not the problem of the reader. And in any case, the tpbs absolutely count towards a book’s bottom line.
I really feel that how a person purchases a comic, whether it’s single issue, collection, digital, or second market, is up to whatever makes them happiest. It all helps in some way, I promise.
"silence is consent"

#1 is pretty good, but #6 is priceless.
1. “Honestly, silence is consent.”
2. “So they didn’t say anything for two whole years? Surely that’s not really on you, that’s on them for not saying…
That gif destroyed me.

I think ‘punch a bunch’ is an excellent plan at times.
Just finished issue #11 of Red Sonja (i read it three times). I feel one could make a compelling case that it is among your finest works. I chose to interpret that story as an open letter against the hypocrisy, sexism, and misuse of organized religions the
Thank you very much!
I am very glad you found it meaningful. I am not condemning faith at all, but when people have so much power over others, they do tend to abuse it.
It’s a weird thing, I would never have expected to be able to say things I really want to say in Red Sonja, of all books, but she really does find herself in eternally relevant situations!

Wonder Woman...

Wonder Woman fantasizes about how she’d prefer to deal with Batman’s rogues gallery.
From Sensation Comics Featuring Wonder Woman #2, by Gail Simone and Ethan Van Sciver.
This page makes zero sense without the page before it and the one after.
Apparently Two-Face is hollow and filled with raspberry jam.
Well, to be fair, Two-Face has always been one of the most delicious bat-villains. Him and Humpty Dumpty.
:)
No harm done, it’s just this is a culmination of several factors being thrust at Diana.
It’s a fun issue. :)
