Gail, thank you for showing FCF support. Before I moved 3 years ago, I used to go to FCF almost weekly for years. The store was fantastic, they knew you by name and everyone always felt welcome there. When a friend linked me the bleedingcool article about
Thank you! That store has apparently been there 27 years, and due to some circumstances beyond their control, they are having a very slow period that is making the month a little difficult.
I am delighted to hear that people are jumping in to shop there!

Hi Gail. I don't know if you have any advice for this, but I suffer from depression and am unable to write. Do you have advice on how to get back into writing?
I have struggled through this, myself, and all I can say is, art makes me happy, or at least less UNHAPPY when things are dark.
It may be that you are seeing writing as a chore or as a feat to be accomplished. I am not a therapist, I am not qualified to speak on depression. But I do know that I often found that when I started writing something I thought of as a PLEASURE, rather than a mountain that needed climbing, then making art became part of the cure, part of the therapy, and not just another thing to beat myself up about.
So, maybe go write something fun, for yourself, not for any other purpose than it makes you happy. I don’t care if it’s fanfic, tumblr posts, erotica, comedy, biography, just SOMETHING to put those words up and on their feet.
If you think of writing the same way you might think of a job, or some other dreadful burden, that won’t help, I suspect. But almost EVERYONE can write the prose version of a doodle, or a quick sketch, and sometimes, that makes us far happier than we expect.
Just a thought. Good luck!

This was adorbs. :)
There's an attitude I've seen in superhero stories, mostly in adaptations but it does occasionally creep into the comics themselves, for the writer to have the characters point out how stupid or ridiculous stuff like codenames and costumes are in a smugly
Silly. It shows a lack of imagination. I’m sure I’ve done it myself at some time, but if we take a moment, there’s always a way to make these tropes believable.
People use code names in the real world, people wear costumes and uniforms, people do things incognito, none of that is that hard to explain with a straight face.

I'm reading the issue after Ryan Choi died rn, when did he have a kid and also ho is this chick who's his baby mama, they came out of nowhere?
I don’t know, to be honest, that story where he was killed was so gross and infuriating, I didn’t keep reading after.
