What is the process in being able to write for companies like Marvel, DC, etc?

You have to have written elsewhere. Neither company accepts unsolicited submissions. You have to have some sore of credentials you can show.

My hero. This guy changed my life.

When I write something that is completely weird and completely me, it’s because THIS GUY showed it could be done.

I miss you constantly, Steve. You were the guy who weaponized quirky comics, and we are all reaping the rewards to this day.

So…someone brought up the scarcity of characters with autism in mainstream comics, and it’s definitely got me thinking. I only know a very, VERY little about the topic, some from research but most from readers who have spoken to me about it. I would love to create an autistic superhero but right now, I am writing NO superhero books (Secret Six and Megalopolis are all anti-hero or flat-out villains, and everything else is not in that genre). So the matter of where to put a new hero of any kind is tough.

But I think this needs to happen. I asked if there were any IN CANON heroes at DC and Marvel and mostly there didn’t seem to be much at this point.

So, if you are on that spectrum, is there a portrayal in ANY media that you like, any character that you feel really speaks to these conditions?

I want to do some research and I am looking into media portrayals that DON’T just follow the stereotypes.

Also, if I’m getting something wrong, please let me know. I am doing some research, but I’m at the baby steps stage of knowledge, if even that, and am very grateful for direction.

Thank you!

Favourite Character: Ragdoll II / Peter...

Favourite Character: Ragdoll II / Peter Merkel Jr and John Constantine

I couldn’t choose. I love them both so much.

I don’t know what it says about me, except nothing good, but I’ve never identified with a character as quickly or completely as I do with Ragdoll. A lot of that is that he’s the first non-binary character I’ve found in a comic, and that I read him as being ace. It also helps that he’s one the very very few genuinely happy anti-heroes. So often moral greyness goes with epic heartbreak, but while Doll has had far more than his fair share of truely terrible life experiences, he’s somehow come out of the other side capable of real happiness, and it makes him completely lovable.

A lot of people were angry about a lot of the representation of John in New 52, but anyone who’s following Constantine: the Hellblazer can tell you that those people are out of date. It took DC a while to figure out what to do with magic’s quintesential anti-hero, but the inclusion of his relationship with Nick Necro and Zatanna, all of Injustice year three and the joyful nonsense that is Constine: the Hellblazer have given us a John who is younger, happier and a damn site more fun that the one from Hellblazer. This John isn’t better, but he also isn’t worse, and I love him just as much.

Honourable mentions: Harley Quinn, Tim Drake, Mouse, the Creeper, Klarion

This is very nice to read about our little bendy person!

If you had been able to write out more Agent X, how would some of it had gone? (I like to imagine Wade stays around for awhile out of pure principal to annoy Alex, but they end up doing missions together anyway. xD)

Alex was going to start a Merc agency and call it AGENCY X, and it would feature Agent X, Outlaw, Sandi, Taskmaster, and Deadpool, and be bankrolled by Arcade.

hmmm. not really loving that tweet from gail simone about not understanding why people like mcu bucky barnes because he’s too “mopey.”

dude was tortured and brainwashed for like 60 years. is he supposed to be upbeat and perky? he’s coping with extreme trauma he’s not being “mopey.”

Someone pointed this out and I totally admit it’s a fair point.

I was actually thinking more about the attraction that people declare for him, which is a whole ‘nother topic.

Is the trade collection for Secret Six (New 52) going to print issues 3 & 4 in the correct order? if those are the wrong numbers its whenever dale eaglesham came back on board. I hope not, I like having the anthology issue randomly thrown in, did a great

I think it does print them in the preferred order, yep! And thanks!

It must have been solicited, I got my copies last week so you will have them soon!
