I can’t BELIEVE she wasn’t nominated for an Eisner for these.

Secret Six #13

tessatechaitea:

Ferdie is checking out Strix’s ass.

The Review or Whatever!

Secret Six stories always have titles that I never understand! It’s like Gail Simone is all, “I’m so smart! I write fully realized characters dealing with actual themes and meaning and shit! Plus I drink tea and know everything there is to know about the television show Arrow! NARF!” And I’m over here thinking, “What does ‘Violence of Silence’ even mean?! How dumb am I?! Am I hurting people when I walk quietly down the street? Should I be screaming my fool head off?!” If this were a Geoff Johns book, I could just think, “I get it! Strix is mute and she kicks ass and ‘silence’ and 'violence’ rhyme so that’s a totally cool title! AWESOME! Geoff Johns for President of the Universe!” But since I know Gail Simone is way smarter than me, I get all nervous and insecure trying to understand her fancy-pants comic book writing skills. At least I know Geoff Johns has no idea what he’s actually doing. That’s comforting!

I say this every time, but this is the funniest reviewer of comics anywhere. Makes me laugh EVERY TIME.

kvcshutterbug:

Over the weekend, I was *finally* able to complete my collection of Gail Simone’s Batgirl. She’s my favorite version of Batgirl, and the version that made me love the character so much.

Aw! Thank you!

Okay, so as far as we know, Lian is a normal human right? Given that as a New God, Knockout wont age and Scandal presumably has her fathers powers of immortality, how often do you think it crosses their minds that Lian's mortality is going to catch up with

It’s Liana (sorry!). :)

Scandal is long-lived, but not so ancient that losing a lover is easy. I don’t know for sure how old Knockout is.

I think they would live for the moment and love who they love, and face the consequences as they come.

Stargirl had STRIPE? He was he stepdad so maybe he doesn't count as a sidekick?

No, I think that’s an exellent example!

Why does Batman hate boats so much?

He just hates them, all right?

Half his mission in BvS is shooting boats.

Do you ever venture outside of the US for cons and the like? I imagine it being rather difficult/expensive, but also (selfishly) wish that's something that happens

I do. I don’t do conventions to sell stuff or to go to parties. I go to cons because I like to spread the word about comics. I like to talk about bringing in the most diverse audience possible. I like to keep the message out there that comics are for everyone.

For me, that means doing as many cons outside of the biggest US cities as possible. I try to do some smaller events, and I try to do as many things outside the US as possible. It might be that I travel to non-US cons more than almost any other US-based creator.

In the past few years I’ve been to Shanghai, Barcelona, Belo Horizonte, Cardiff, Belfast, Dublin, London, the Lakes District in England, Calgary, Edmonton, Mexico City, all over Australia and New Zealand, Singapore, Norway, Iceland, and many many more, and this year I am going to a couple new countries I’ve never visited before.

I love the travel, but it is very exhausting to get places AND do a con, especially in a foreign country. But I get to say truthfully that I’ve made friends all over the world, and that’s a pretty lovely feeling.
