Batgirl 5, I think. Cover by Adam Hughes.
So lovely~
Adam Hughes, ladies and gentlemen.
That guy slays me every time. I get that this cover is a LITTLE bit sidekick-y, which I don't see Barbara being at all, but the beauty of it and the feeling of love in the characters just overwhelms any reservations.
That guy kills me.

Sorry to frighten the fuck out of my new followers.
THIS^ is love. I was dying, due to pcp pneumonia and acute respiratory failure/distress. I lost over 150lbs, one of my lungs collapsed and will never re inflate, I had chest tubes, multiple IV's, I was on a ventilator, had a tracheostomy, had to re-learn how to walk, talk, eat and breathe on my own, all over again. My husband, was there for me EVERY. FUCKING. DAY. The amazing doctors and nurses at KU Medical Center ALL commented on how amazingly dedicated my husband was. How few husbands show such tenderness and love. I would have died, had he not been there to keep me going.
I have a man who wiped my ass for me because I messed myself in my hospital bed.
Now, tell me that we are going to ruin the sanctity of marriage and I will bust your fucking teeth out.
This is actually quite beautiful.
I hope I get a husband who is so amazing :3
Wow that's amazing. They must both me such strong people.
Well, a tear or two fell. That's the kind of love I want one day. That strong.
Sorry to put it this way, but DEAR IDIOT RIGHT WING HOMOPHOBES,you should BE so lucky as to have what these two have!
DC Women Kicking Ass: DC's New 52 female heroes hit t-shirts
Anyone who has shopped for a Batgirl t-shirt knows that for years the only Batgirl featured was vintage Bronze Age Barbara Gordon. The only exception was a t-shirt featuring James Jeans art with Cassandra Cain dressed as old style vintage Bronze Age Barbara Gordon.
But yet only three months…
I'm telling you, we could see the need for this stuff coming like a freight train once the books were announced. I remember I was at a con, Calgary, maybe? And nearly every artist was being asked to sketch Barbara as Batgirl, just over and over, and it's been that way ever since. It's definitely indicative of SOMETHING.
I am delighted that we're getting updated designs for these things. The classic stuff is great, but I really want to see the new stuff as well, I think demand is going to be huge.
And this is why we will never have Oracle back :(
I wouldn't say that…it's a different DCU, but it's an open one.
"You have nothing to feel ashamed of. I want you to know you didn't do anything wrong. Please know..."

Writer-director Tyler Perry • In an open letter, published by The Daily Beast, to an 11-year-old alleged victim in the Jerry Sandusky case. "Do you know that at the young age of 11 you had more courage than all the adults who let you down?" he writes. "All of the ones who didn't go to the proper authorities, all of the ones who were worried about their careers, reputations, or livelihoods. All of the ones who didn't want to get involved. Or even the ones who tried to convince your mother not to fight. You are stronger than them all! I wonder what they would have done if it were their own child." You rock, Tyler. (via shortformblog)

I wonder, however, how often do we see public support for young male survivors of molestation? To me, it seems like the culture of hyper-masculinity/homophobia often makes it hard for male victims of sexual assault to come forward and only enforces silence and shame. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places, but I rarely see other men reach out to other male sexual assault survivors in that way before.
Or am I mis-interpreting what you're saying? Can someone make sense of what I'm trying to say?
(via newwavefeminism)
First of all, this whole open letter is fucking beautiful. So, I suggest that everyone read it.
I do wish that there were more articles and open letters that were as full of support for ALL sexual assault survivors as this one is. I know that I could really use this kind of validation and support in this form from time to time. But, the reality of the Penn State situation is that it looks like the majority of the people involved (students, supporters of Penn State's football program, the entire Penn State administration involved in the cover up) were trying to silence these young boys because they care more about a game than what was done to these boys. In this particular situation, there is a noticeably public lack of support for these young boys coming from so many people. If they are paying any attention to the news and media surrounding the Penn State injustices, it must be incredibly damaging for them to see that hundreds (even thousands) of people who should be OUTRAGED about what happened at Penn State to so many young boys and who should care about the survivors are siding with the people who let it happen. And on top of all of that, newwavefeminism is completely correct. Hyper masculinity and homophobia can make it extremely difficult for male survivors of sexual assault to come forward about their abuse and the crimes committed against them. The network of support for male survivors of sexual assault may be more extensive than I'm aware of from my own research when I was seeking help for myself as a female survivor, but if it is, those resources for male survivors are not very highly publicized.
The rioting and the angry Penn State fans who would rather support a coach that let something horrible happen to these young boys has been all too public. All people seem to be talking about are Penn State football, Joe Paterno, what this means for the season, angry fans, and a lot of terrible people who value a sport over these boys' suffering. What needs to be made the most public to drown out all of that other noise about things that ultimately don't matter is support for these young survivors. That's what they need to hear and read and see right now. And, I think that's what Tyler Perry's letter is trying to do. These kids need to know that what happened was not their fault, and that all of the people who were angry at the riots or who tried to cover up their abuse are wrong. They need to know that there are people out there who support them and who understand exactly what they're going through. They should know that they are not alone. And, Tyler Perry conveyed all of those things in that beautiful letter. As helpful as a super general open letter would be for all sexual assault survivors, sometimes the best help comes directly from somebody who has been through something similar. These boys have had enough of people ignoring them and choosing to prioritize other less important things over them. It is wonderful that this letter addresses them directly when it seems like the rest of the world doesn't care to recognize them.

A fun question for you tonight, Gail: If you were a Superheroine, what powers would you have and would your costume have a cape? ^_^
My costume would definitely have a cape. And I think of all the powers I could have, I'd probably pick superspeed…it makes all other powers unnecessary!

Very nice people…take a look!
I'm on your internet, seducing your women.: I honestly don't get it.
What's with the some feminists and the "don't hold the door open for me or be chivalrous" thing? (I'm definitely aware NOT all feminists do this, but a conversation on my dash brought the topic to mind) I mean, I understand that you don't like being treated differently solely because you have a…
I know very few, if any, women who will refuse to have a door held for them. I can not remember the last time I saw this magical woman who goes about refusing to have doors held for her all about the world. I see a damned lot of the opposite of this, actually, people not paying attention when I have my arms full, or when my friend has her stroller with two kids in it and people can't be arsed to open a door. Or when I am having a high pain day and using my cane and people ignore that too.
It doesn't personally bother me at all, unless I am holding a door open and some dude happens along and refuses. THIS is actually something I do see, almost every day that I am out and about. I'll hold the door that I am going in or out of anyhow, and dude will stop, stock still, and insist that I go first. I have actually had men get grumpy with me over the fact that I won't go first. I have been called a bitch and a feminazi over this little tiny gesture.
The problem is that it stems from Chivalry, which, sure, sounds neat and respectful on the surface, but is rooted in the idea that women were fragile and delicate and needed to be protected, so they were treated like fragile property, instead of equal individuals.
So, I guess… excuse me if I don't get over this one thing?
I have NEVER seen this hypothetical feminist who yells at men for holding the door open for her. Ever. But I have had my share of guys who will stop when I hold open the door, even though I have taken a step behind it to hold it open, and therefore it makes no sense for me to step around and enter and he has to swing open the door himself again and he is wasting precious fucking time waiting for me to go inside first. It's kind of aggravating. I wonder if it's a regional thing, though.
**************************
I routinely punch any guy who tries to be nice to me for any reason, and I generally take the opportunity to get the boot in while he's down, just for spite, because that's totally what feminism is, honest, no fooling.
Also, I demand all women get abortions even when they're not pregnant and I insist the government pays for it AND gives the woman a medal. Plus, it would be great if all jobs were given to unqualified women. We demand quotas! We LOVE quotas!
Also, that first post is utter bullshit.
I don't want men holding open doors for women.
I want people holding open doors for people, because feminism is about being decent to each other no matter what your gender identity is. I don't want to be treated as some special fucking snowflake just because I was born with a certain set of chromosomes. I want to be treated as a special snowflake by people who like me for who I am, and I will treat them in kind, no matter what their plumbing looks like.
Sure, but have you ever seen the hypothetical feminist in the original post?
