i'm just curious, because i see you reblog a lot of fanart from around tumblr, what are the legal differences between you viewing fanart and reading fanfiction? it seems to me the both come from the same place -- a love of the characters and a desire to se

It is a more than fair question!  I think it has to do with the idea that it's easy for a writer to CLAIM a plot or story was stolen from them (one company I know was sued by a guy whose story came out a YEAR after the company published something he felt was similar!).  With art, that's a different thing, the artist knows he or she doesn't have copyright. But a lot of aspiring writers are convinced people are out to steal their ideas (we aren't, we're not in this business for YOUR ideas, we're in it for OURS), and also, many lack perspective on their own work. They think it's so brilliant that of COURSE people want to steal it. There's definitely some deluded folks out there. And they're the ones who make it so we have to be so careful. Otherwise, it would be no big deal at all.

Three GOP Presidential Candidates Sign Pledge To Investigate LGBT Community

Three GOP Presidential Candidates Sign Pledge To Investigate LGBT Community:

cognitivedissonance:

This pledge comes courtesy of NOM (National Organization for Marriage) who feels like their liberties are being trampled upon if people take issue with things like Prop 8 H8.

Yep.

Just for funsies, here's former NOM mastermind, now Culture War Victory Fund warrior Maggie Gallagher giving instructions on how to deal with your gay family members at ruin Thanksgiving. (And yes, it's called the "Culture War Victory Fund")

Homosexuality is not a sin, Maggie. That haircut is a sin. One of my buddies suggested that Maggie's hairdresser is gay and hates her. I could see it.

Just when you think those people can't get any more poisonous.

Their families are going to be ashamed of them forever.

I'm really proud of this special, actually. I love this...

I'm really proud of this special, actually. I love this panel, the whole scene, really, because of the amazing work of Dale Eaglesham.  Different artists capture different aspects of Catman, in particular, but no one ever got the idea that he was a guy who could throw off his clothes and go run with the lions like Dale.

I've told this story before, but DC didn't think we could hook an entire crossover prelude mini, a big one, on Catman. They weren't mean, they just didn't see how it would work at first. Until Dale turned in the first page with Catman, nearly naked, lions at his feet. Full page, with Dr. Psycho and Talia ogling him.

Then they said, "Okay, we get it."  :)

Dale gave me that page when we finally met, it's one of my proudest posessions.

I doubt there is a single surface in the House of Secrets that Jeanette and Deadshot haven't had sex on ;D

Oddly, what I love the most about this panel is that she still has one shoe on.

Love it :D

Well, with boots that good I'm not sure I would ever want to take it off either

I'm never JEALOUS of cosplayers so much as appreciative, I love what they do and what they bring to comics.

But when the Jeannette cosplayers gots the perfect Jeannette boots…

…well, let's just say it's amazing I haven't committed grand boot larceny.

I'd take the coat, too.

And the comb.

Black Alice as Wonder Woman headband and earrings I made by spray-painting a thin headband and some jewels with gold-spray paint. Hopefully better pictures will come soon when I wear them!

That's it, want want want.

Those are amazing!

That's a better cover design than LOTS of pro covers I've had on my books. Excellent, and also, GOOD ADVICE REGARDING ALICE!

I adore this pic. It's so romantic and so beautiful and it gives me warm & fuzzy feelings all over. There aren't many couples at DC that I love as much or more than Scandal and her beloved and this is some beautiful fanart of them

I may be wrong but it looks like two warriors are going to have some special time.

That's really lovely, great colors!

Savant-has-a-tiny-little-waistline-photoset

You know, I believe every artist has at least one redeeming quality (yes, even Liefield, it's got to be in there somewhere), and whatever else might be said about Ed Benes, he drew Savant hella' sexy.

I actually think he did THE best job with Savant that any artist ever did. He just had a great eye for Savant's brooding quality. However, for Creote, I have to give it to Nicola Scott. Big Russian guy in a tux, as drawn by Nic?

YES.
