Nice!

Wow! I love this!
Merf. Thinking is Hard.: Remember When the Police Pepper-Sprayed a Group of Haka Dancers?
If not, you can check it out here.
The two officers have been cleared of any wrongdoing by an internal investigation.
The pepper spray was used on about a dozen people who had traveled about 125 miles from Salt Lake City to watch a relative play…
The stupid thing, I mean, sorry, ONE of the incredibly stupid things, is that after seeing the dance in New Zealand, I have NO IDEA how anyone can mistake it for serious aggression. It is clearly ritualized, it's dance, it has meaning. It's not some random flailing about. I think this cop is full of shit.
It's PINK

Oh Scandal :D
Her expression when she sees Liana's bike for the first time always makes me giggle. And Liana teasing her over it is just too adorable

I fell in love with Liana when she said, "Whatever you say, baby."
I just find that really sweet, for some reason.
Hi there Gail Simone! I just had a quick question that I hope you don't mind answering. I absolutely love the way you write LGBTQ characters in your work, always have. So I was wondering if we can expect to see any more new wonderful LGBTQ characters appe
Thank you, that's very kind of you!
I put lgbt characters in almost everything I write, and Firestorm and Batgirl are no exceptions. There's a major new character in Batgirl in particular that I don't think we have really seen in mainstream comics, but is well overdue. I can't talk TOO much about them at this point, though, sorry!
And I would love to have Scandal and her wives in the new 52…it will happen, but they have asked us to focus on the new characters for a little while.
Black Women In Comics
For the past several years, the great Cheryl Lynn, a.k.a. Digital Femme, has been talking extensively about black female characters and creators in comics. She comes at the issue from a place that is both just and informed, and she makes devastatingly good points on those occasions where she talks on the subject.
To that end, she formed the Ormes Society, named after the first known African American female cartoonist. I've been following Cheryl for years, she was one of the influences of Thomasina Lindo, the lead character in my Welcome to Tranquility series, for her honesty and willingness to state the truth plainly despite the usual crap that people always feel the need to hurl at anyone who does so.
In short, she's f***ing awesome.
Here's an interview with her. You should read it.

Again, these were among my favorite cosplayers ever. LOOK at the art and craft and acting they all displayed, holy CRAP. Seeing them all show up at the MCM Expo in London almost made me cry, and they were without exception the sweetest and most adorable people, totally in character, playing so many of my favorites, the characters that are most emotional to me.; Lady Blackhawk, Knockout, Ragdoll, Scandal, Bane, Penguin, and Black Alice.
I swear, one of the best days I've had in comics.

One of my favorite Ed Benes pages. Again, sometimes the cheesecake is a little much and we'd have to ask him to tone it down. But a lot of hot, fan-favorite artists could not deliver this wordless page with the kind of quiet power that Ed delivers here, and that's why I was always thrilled to work with him.
He barely speaks English and I don't speak any Portugese. We barely ever actually communicated directly. Our lives and histories could not BE more different.
But he somehow knew what was in my brain better than almost any artist I've worked with.

Gosh, does the bamfness just not stop??
Even after everything he and Creote have done on the team - heck, right before this, they'd been helping Helena pull off her undercover assimilation into Gotham's mobs - Dinah still can't stand them, with good reason. But despite everything they've done to merit that loathing from her, she still chooses them when she needs a team of fighters skilled enough to take down the freaking Twelve Brothers in Silk. Dinah holds their fighting abilities in the same esteem as Connor Hawke - as previously stated - Wildcat, Huntress, Richard Dragon, and her own skills. It would take a hell of a lot of confidence in someone's asskicking ability to recruit them even though you hate them, but Dinah did.

This was my favorite fight scene that I've ever written. I loved it.
Oh wow is Connor ever so pasty looking in this. Damn shame.
Even when he was in canon, they couldn't freaking get his skin color right. *so much sad sighing*
Great scene though, Gail.

Thanks, but you're right. He looks a LITTLE darker here than Savant and Huntress, but he definitely isn't colored the way he should be. The artist who drew this was the great Joe Bennett who is always terrific about drawing people's ethnicities with respect (he's poc himself, and just a great artist on top of everything else), but we don't get to see the proofs in color usually, and I wasn't aware that Connor was often white-washed in other books enough that I could have warned the colorist.
I think in Connor's case, colorists who are a little unfamiliar with him probably see the blond hair, know that Ollie is his father, and are not aware of his bi-racial parentage. Someone should have caught that.

I can't say it often enough. My hero, my idol, the love of my life.
I just want to state for the record how severely disappointed I was that Roy was nowhere to be found in this battle. Sigh.
Why would Roy be invited? He was Arsenal at this point, he's not in this league in hand-to-hand fighting.
