BETHANY TURNER “PAY IT FORWARD” WEEK – Today’s RRBC Author – Denise Liebig

20140112_113954-1

Good afternoon – today on THE GUNDERSTONE REVIEW, as well as on ALL of my social media sites, I am going to spotlight, promote, and propel one of my fellow authors from my online book club – #RaveReviews BookClub ( #RRBC )

The “BETHANY TURNER “PAY IT FORWARD” WEEK” effort is the brain child of member Bethany Turner to which I have volunteered – three days in total this week for three different authors.

If you are an author and want this kind of support, you can get in on “that action” via membership to the #RaveReviews BookClub.

Today I am spotlighting Denise Liebig, author of Dear Maude (The Dear Maude Trilogy Book 1)

In her own words:

“I’m Denise Liebig, a writer and long-time Las Vegas area resident.  When I’m not busy living my life as a wife and mother of three kids, I write.  And when I’m not writing, I’m thinking about writing.  When I’m not thinking about writing, I’m generally asleep (dreaming of things to write about).  I could go on, but in the end we’d probably all be asleep!

Before my current experience, I worked for a consulting engineering firm, where I wrote proposals and other marketing materials.  Although this was a somewhat technical gig, I did not lose sight of my underlying passion – writing fiction.  I put it on hold, but it never went away – it just took about twenty years to realize!

I started “Dear Maude” many years ago, while also helping my husband with his business and being a “kid shuttle.”  Once the kids were older, I also found myself in the fortunate situation of working from home – alone.  That is when I started to write full-time.  Once I completed “Dear Maude,” I made the difficult decision to postpone publishing it until the other books in the series were complete.  Crazy?  Yes!  Worth it?  Absolutely!  Although this approach might not have worked for others, it served as an amazing learning and writing experience that I would not trade for anything.  I hope that you enjoy reading the series as much as I enjoyed writing it!”

BETHANY TURNER “PAY IT FORWARD” WEEK – Today’s RRBC Author – Jean Shorney

jmshorney

Good morning – today on THE GUNDERSTONE REVIEW, as well as on ALL of my social media sites, I am going to spotlight, promote, and propel one of my fellow authors from my online book club – #RaveReviews BookClub ( #RRBC )

Today I am spotlighting Jean Shorney, author of the Aidan McRaney series

In her own words:

“Jean Shorney is a writer in the South of England. Jean’s books cover a wide range of topics, from horror to gangland, while experimenting with other genres.

The modern phenomena of self-publishing has given Jean the opportunity to show her work to a wide audience. Her work has already drawn favourable interest from readers voraciously enjoying the exploits of her characters.

Jean grew up in rural West Berkshire, which is a place rife with tales of folklore and lurid ghost stories. These tales ignited the writer’s passion for writing, allowing her to weave her own tales while absorbing books from classics to science fiction.

Classics such as Dickens’ works were often given as presents by her family, while Jean sought out writers like Ray Bradbury and Isaac Asimov, which were sourced from places such as the nearby American airbase.  Along with these authors, other influences such as Jack Higgins’ thrillers, and classic TV like The Outer Limits and Gunsmoke, really piqued Jean’s interest in different styles or storytelling.

Now, following a happy marriage and raising two children, Jean has thrown herself back into her writing, exploring the platforms the Internet is offering, such as Twitter.”

Today I am spotlighting Yvette M. Calleiro, author of the Chronicles of the Diasodz.

In her own words:

“Yvette M. Calleiro is a heavily addicted reader of both young adult and adult novels.  She spends most of her free time psuedo-living in paranormal worlds with her fictional friends (and boyfriends). She’s also been known to run on the elliptical machine at her gym for hours while reading anything from paranormal to fantasy to suspenseful thrillers. When she’s living amongst real people, Yvette M. Calleiro is a high school Reading teacher. She’s been sharing her love of literature with her students for over seventeen years. Besides writing about the various characters that whisper (and sometimes scream) in her head, she enjoys traveling, watching movies, spending quality time with family and friends, and enjoying the beauty of the ocean. Yvette lives in Miami, Florida, with her beautiful son who allows her to enjoy children’s literature all over again. She also shares her space with an assortment of crazy saltwater animals in her 300-gallon tank.”

GUEST POST – Nonnie Jules – Poetry Piece – “Anything For You Babe”

Anything For You Babe

When I hear your voice,

Lose myself in your eyes –

Deep pools of brown

Softness;

I feel myself

Drifting, and

I’ll do anything for you, Babe…

I need to have my Goddess

Tell me of her wants, her Cravings;

I’m listening, Love,

Whisper your needs and

I’ll do anything for you, Babe…

I descend deep within my Soul

Searching urgently, relentlessly for you,

My mate;

I call out your name and

Listen

For I’ll do anything for you, Babe…

The silence, unsettling and

Worrisome;

Where have you gone, Love?

I don’t feel you Tonight.

Return to me, and

I’ll do anything for you, babe...

THE BLOG TOUR – starring Author CAROL MARRS PHIPPS

The Burgeoning – Book Four

Lance shifted on his saddle in the thick whirling snow and gathered his collar over his muffler as he peered from under his hat at the top of the mountain. “Well Abaddon,” he called out cheerfully over the wind, “we’ll be over the top directly and we’ll be getting out of this weather!”

“My momma’s goin’ ‘o kill you for stealing me away from her,” said Abaddon with a baleful snarl. “And when I tell her all about it, she’ll hurt you a whole lot for a long, long time before she stops your heart.”

“Oh, she’ll have to catch us first,” said Lance buoyantly, as a shudder ran through him.

“She’ll catch you, all right! Oh, yes she will! And it’ll be a lot of fun!”

“After five long days in the cold, it’s a mercy we won’t have to sleep out in this,” thought Lance with another shudder as the unicorns stepped their way up, crunching loose shards of stone through the new layer of snow. Having grown up here, he was familiar with the sudden fierce winter storms up in the Pitmaster’s Kettles. He glanced aside at Abaddon. In spite of how good he’d always been with children, the boy unnerved him. “I’ll do it for James,” he thought, wishing he did not have to. Abaddon looked up at him with a red-eyed glower, as if he knew exactly what he had just been thinking, giving him a sudden bristle of goose flesh. He quickly turned away. “Surely he doesn’t read thoughts. I’ve never heard that Spitemorta does.” He looked back again to suddenly feel guilty for thinking all of this at the sight of Abaddon looking right at him with the innocent smile of a boy on an adventure. He smiled back and began searching for the path over the top.

“Here we go!” he called out. “Right yonder! Just keep Sheba close to Stepper and we’ll soon be out of the weather in the heart of this ol’ mountain!”

“What do you mean? You don’t mean we’re going clean inside it, do you?”

“Sure do,” said Lance with a nod. “This is a vulcan mountain. Its top was once a cauldron of melted red-hot rock. If it weren’t for the snow, you’d see frozen rivers of rock running down it’s sides from long ago. That’s what all the black rock between the trees was, ‘way back down below, before we ever started up here. The top of each one of these mountains for miles and miles is a deep pit. that’s why they’re called the Pitmaster’s Kettles. And here we are.” He slapped his hand onto his hat in the furious wind at the very top of the slope as his unicorn hesitated between a pair of boulders on the rim, stepping restlessly from side to side before finding his first steps of the steep decent beyond. “See out yonder? the whole top of this mountain is naught but a giant deep hole. And here we go, on the path right down into the mountain, but you watch out and keep Sheba close behind. I don’t want you falling off the side. It’s a long way down.”

“I better not fall. My momma would kill you even worse if I did.”

“Yea, and your dad wouldn’t be too happy either.”

Abaddon gave a contemptuous snort, but quickly donned a look of excited expectancy in spite of himself. Soon they were below the wind, carefully finding their way down the narrow path, knocking loose rocks to go skittering and bounding off into the depths. He anxiously peered down into the crater, but strain as he might, he could not see the bottom. “Hey,” he demanded. “It’s gettin’ darker and darker. How are we going to see? In fact, what’s going to keep us from falling off?”

“Stepper and Sheba. The unicorns see a lot better in the dark than we do and they’re completely sure-footed if you don’t rush them. They’ll find their way. Besides, it’ll get lighter before long.”

“You’re crazy. It’s been getting darker and darker.”

“Well, when you get down far enough, there’s quite a lot of glow lichen growing, though we’re not far enough to tell it yet. Have you noticed it getting warmer?”

“The wind’s died down is all. It’s not any warmer.”

“Well, what do you suppose happened to all the snow, Abby?”

“You’re not allowed to say things like that! You’re supposed to call me ‘Your Highness!’

“Well, maybe when you earn it…”

Abaddon drew a breath for a furious shout, but fell silent with a gasp at the sudden sight of a faint glow, far below in the blackness.

Starting an Author Platform Pt. 7: Why an Author Book Club Can Help

Originally posted on Archer's Aim:

It’s been several weeks since I wrote about this series. However, I’ve had this topic on my mind for a while so I thought I’d address it today.

A book club for authors (as well as readers) can be a valuable piece of a writing platform that is often over-looked. The club can provide many resources for a writer. First I’ll share from the experiences I’ve had with my own club membership with Rave Reviews Book Club and then I’ll address things which you should consider before joining any such club/organization.

Here are a number of benefits AgreementI’ve found important as a member of a book club:

1. It’s largely a community of supportive authors interested in promoting each other from the strength of a group. This is very important since Rave Reviews Book Club now has over six hundred member. What I share over social media is vastly amplified…

~~~~~
Hi, and welcome to the “CELEBRATING POETRY AS LOVE”Blog Tour, in celebration of INTERNATIONAL POETRY MONTH!  Poetry, in case you haven’t noticed, is a struggling genre at this time.  I’m not meeting many folks who are moved by this (sometimes) sexy, (at times), harsh reality of words, but, there are those of us who continue to love, appreciate and write from this genre, which springs forth so many different emotions unlike any other.
In February, 2015, I co-authored my first poetry book,  “IF ONLY THERE WAS MUSIC…” The Poetry of Forbidden Love.  Here is a bit of the book’s introduction below:
“Ever read poetry that was so soothing, so mellow, and just so perfectly sweet, you felt it should have been a love song?  “IF ONLY THERE WAS MUSIC…” is just that kind of poetry…but it’s also poetry written about forbidden…
