BETHANY TURNER “PAY IT FORWARD” WEEK – Today’s RRBC Author – Bethany Turner (HERSELF!)

Bethany

Good afternoon – today on THE GUNDERSTONE REVIEW, as well as on ALL of my social media sites, I am going to spotlight, promote, and propel one of my fellow authors from my online book club – #RaveReviews BookClub ( #RRBC )

The “BETHANY TURNER “PAY IT FORWARD” WEEK” effort is the brain child of member Bethany Turner to which I have volunteered – three days in total this week for three different authors.

If you are an author and want this kind of support, you can get in on “that action” via membership to the #RaveReviews BookClub.

Today I am spotlighting, as it would just so happen, Bethany Turner herself!

In her own words:

Bethany Turner is the author of the Abigail Phelps Series of books:

I’ve Loved These Days, Scenes From Highland Falls , and Two Thousand Years.

You can follow her journey on her daily blog, The Year of Blogging Faithfully.

With the Abigail Phelps Series, author Bethany Turner had the unique opportunity to bring together in one series of books all of the pop culture places and things with which she has ever been obsessed. We should have known it would come to this..Her first writing award was in the 2nd grade – at a State-level contest, students were given the assignment of writing about any living person they would choose to have lunch with, and why. While do-gooders all around her chose Reagan, Thatcher, and Gorbachev, Bethany chose John Stamos – yes, Uncle Jesse. Her obsession with pop culture continues more than 25 years later, and Bethany is proud to say that John Stamos ignores her on Twitter and Facebook, even to this very day.

Bethany is a born and bred Kentucky girl who relocated to Colorado in 2001, three years after meeting the love of her life in a chat room – back before anyone knew that wasn’t a good idea. Thankfully, it worked out in this case, and she and her husband are the proud parents of two boys.

Today I am spotlighting Rhani D’Chae, author of Shadow of the Drill: Born of Circumstance, Bred for Revenge. (The Drill Series Book 1)

In her own words:

Rhani D’Chae has always been an avid reader and began writing in her early teens. Her first ‘novel’ was a Star Trek adventure that she freely admits was a disaster but she learned from it and never stopped writing. Shadow of the Drill is her first published novel, and is the first in a series that revolves around an unrepentant enforcer and the violent life that he leads.

She enjoys chatting with readers and fellow writers via Social Networking sites, and loves getting comments and other input from those who have read her work. She is on Facebook, and also on Twitter, @rhanidchae.

Memorial Day Weekend special (through May 26th) on “I, Hero – The Beginning”

As some of you may be aware my newest release is “I, Hero – The Beginning”, now available on the Kindle.

With the release I am offering a special until just before midnight on Memorial Day (May 26th) – contact me via my Facebook author page with a PM (private message) and request a REVIEW COPY  and your email address and I will send along a copy FOR FREE.

In return all I am asking for is consideration of an honest review. You do not have to commit to one but I would like you to consider it.

Here is the blurb on the book (below) and then directly below that, links to chapter excerpts of “I, Hero – The Beginning” for your consideration.

I Hero: The Beginning Kindle Edition

An everyday man, living less than ordinary life in New York City, simply makes his way about his work life and one at home. A kind heart and an empathetic soul, who tended to think of others before he thought of himself.

With his childhood totally left behind and gone with the final resting of his father, Nathan has come to terms with his past as he forges his life in the present, unaware of what lies ahead.

An unlikely friendship, a random act of violence, a budding romance, all part of a life changed.

“When it’s your time, there’s nothing you can do to change that outcome. The only thing you can do is meet it head on. You have to hope that the life you had with others, while you were here, has made a positive impact.” – Brian Devron

“Where there is darkness, you are light. Where others know fear, you will be brave. When there are setbacks, you will persevere. Where others find weakness, you bring strength. Where there is despair, you are hope. Where cowardice falls, you rise courageously. Where others do not have the ability to believe, you have faith. You will suffer, so that others will endure. You will triumph where others would fall.” – Cici Johnson

“This is it; it all changes tonight. Anything I do tonight, at a minimum, is going to at least expose all of this to the world.” – Nathan Devron.

New records for “Another Sunset” and “Before Another Sunset” in the Kindle Store

Earlier this morning “Another Sunset” and “Before Another Sunset” set new records in the Kindle Store

“Another Sunset” is currently ranked #28,028 out of over one million books in the Kindle Store.

“Before Another Sunset” is currently ranked #34,824 out of over one million books in the Kindle Store.

I realize there is a lot of ambiguity in these numbers but it is something of a peer report and while it’s not a competition I am glad the book is holding well after nearly six months in release as I prepare to debut “I, Hero – The Beginning”

Indie Author News – Book of the Day – May 13, 2015 – Another Sunset

I realize the whole day has gone by now but it was that kind of day.

Regardless – Another Sunset was the Book of the Day at Indie Author News AND it’s hit a couple of new position records over at Amazon as well.

The book has also clipped review #50 over at Amazon. Between there, Goodreads, and Barnes and Noble it has over 100 reviews (some are the same reader but there are at least 70 unique reviews).

Not Having Children by Nancy Roman

In her own words – “Nancy Roman is a sixty-something English major who ended up (by the desire not to starve) with an MBA. While maintaining a long and successful career in Finance, she returned to writing a few years ago. Her essay “My Perfect Mess” was included in Marlo Thomas’ collection, “The Right Words At The Right Time, Volume II.” Roman recently published her debut novel, “Just What I Always Wanted,” available on Amazon. In her popular blog, “Not Quite Old”, she writes lighthearted memories of childhood, the silly side of marriage, and her admittedly hopeless attempts to stay as young as possible.”

I ran across a random blog post of hers today titled Not Having Children. In the forward she wrote “I wrote this essay fourteen years ago. This Mother’s Day, I find I am ready to share it.”

I believe this is the single best blog post I’ve read to date this year and I have to wonder how many others will agree.

46 Book Giveaway For Another Sunset for my 46th birthday / 50 reviews on Amazon

I am really excited regarding my current 46 Book Giveaway For Another Sunset for my 46th birthday over on GoodReads (see the links and details below – US based mailing addresses only please for this giveaway). My birthday is May 8th and that is the last day for the contest.

The giveaways have helped me build my audience (along with other efforts that I have been engaging in such as being an active and engaged member at Rave Reviews Book Club among other things) – since the late November release of the book, five months ago, I have managed to receive 50 reviews at Amazon.

I have a few less at GoodReads (and some are duplicated from the Amazon reviewers and vice versa) but I am happy to have all the feedback. I even have a few three, two, and one star reviews (between the two sites I think it is four). Where and when they offered feedback I looked at it and collected my thoughts around it. I realize I am not going to make every happy and everyone is not going to like my story nor my style.

Having said that I think the details speak for themselves.

Thank you all for making my first work a of fiction a great success; I am looking to the future for even bigger and better things with Another Sunset as the word spreads about the story to other readers.

That and I am also looking forward to my upcoming effort – “I Hero – The Beginning” which is about to hit the editor in about a week. (Hint, hint, nudge, nudge, Harmony).

I am hoping for a late June Kindle release for that one.

In the meantime, if you’re interested in trying for one of 46 free copies of Another Sunset, please check out the giveaway below.

Enough Is Enough :)

GUNDERSTONE:

I can honestly say as a member of less than six months I’ve gotten out of the club what I have put in – a lot.

Am I selling thousands of books? No – not yet. But someday I will and if nothing else, the club certainly isn’t going to HURT or PREVENT me from doing so.

The biggest issue I see (in general – anywhere in the world) are that SOME people can’t be happy for another’s success because it somehow makes them feel smaller about themselves.

When I see someone excel past me (and have done so in an honest and non-combative manner i.e. not stepping on the backs of others, etc.) , I cheer them on, I am happy for the them, I hope they keep going and then I imagine one day, “when I grow up”, to have as much success and good fortune.

I know you’re curious about the title of this post and the fact that I’ve followed it up with a smile.  Well, stick with me here.  If you don’t know me, I am the President of Rave Reviews Book Club.  It’s an awesome organization built on support between members, most of whom are authors.  Now, when I founded this club, I didn’t think that it would take up so much of my time, but it has; I didn’t think that it would keep me from writing great books, but it has; I didn’t think that it would keep me burning the midnight oil well into the wee hours of the morning, only to jump out of bed after about 3-4 hours of sleep to start it all over again, but it has;  I didn’t expect that…
