Con Date Change
Just a heads up for those hoping to come to Libertycon this year. Due to a snafu on the hotel’s part, Libertycon was forced to change dates and venues. Instead of being at the Read House on May 30 – June 2, it will now be held at the Downtown Chattanooga Marriott from June 28-30.
I’ll still be in attendance, but this delaying action might actually coincide with a book release, which would be very, very cool. I’m hoping it all works out.
Unfortunately, this means that my tentative plans to at...

New Con and New Book
Quick update…
I will be a guest at the FantaSci convention in Durham, NC next month (March 22-24). Since I’m one of the Four Horsemen universe authors they decided hey, let’s invite Jason. Follow this link to find out more about this exciting new convention, and bring a friend!
Release date for Homeguard looks to be March 15. That’s exciting news, because that means I’ll be at the convention and able to sign books the entire weekend!

Not One but Two Cover Reveals!
That’s right, today I have two cover reveals.
The first is from a MECHA anthology that I’m in, coming out May 1st (or abouts). In this is a Kin Wars Universe short story titled Maelstrom Rising, and takes place roughly ten years before the events in Wraithkin. I thought it was a terrific little bit about rediscovering humanity when all you are is a killer.
[image error]The next one is the one I’ve been waiting for. Book 4 of the Kin Wars Saga, Homeguard, is ready and coming out in early April.

Two Short Story Sales
That’s right, not one but TWO short stories have been accepted into upcoming anthologies!
The first, titled A Chosen Moment Before, is a time traveling, alien invasion, Quantum Leap-like story to be featured in the Cannon Publishing Military Science Fiction and Fantasy Spring 2019 anthology. Long title, but I’m certain that the publisher will be shortening that soon enough. I really like this story, even though it was a little weird to write at first because I only kind of knew where it was g...

Marscon 2019 AAR
I had an absolute BLAST at my first ever Marscon, which is held in Williamsburg, VA, this weekend. It’s Sunday evening so technically still the weekend of Marscon but you get the idea.
The best part about this con is that I didn’t know I was going until Thursday night. I only got to go because two of my author friends (Kacey Ezell (Minds of Men, Assassin) and Philip “Docfather” Wohlrab) kidnapped me and forced me to go. Sort of.
Let us rewind to Thursday, shall we?
I’ve been… stressed lately,...

Homeguard Update
Today I officially cracked the halfway point for Homeguard, Book 4 of the Kin Wars Saga. To say I’m giddy is an understatement, primarily because usually the second half of the book flies by at a faster pace for me. Considering that the first half took less than two months, my goal of having a finished product to turn in to the publisher on Jan 31 looks easily doable.
During this time I also nearly finished a short story for an upcoming Military Science Fiction anthology from a new publisher....

2018 In Review
2018 was a very strange year for me. I left my job of 3 years, was fired as Head Basketball coach just before the season started, and had one of my most successful publishing years since 2014. 3 novels were released and I was featured in 2 anthologies, and sold another short story to Baen for another upcoming anthology.
I survived my first Dragoncon (phew!) and actually attended more cons in 2018 than I ever had in a single year before. I hope to match that number in 2019. Conventions are a g...

Countdown Excitement
One of the really cool things about being an author is that you can create your worlds at any time and work on them. Even if you don’t have all the information in the books, it’s always handy to have as a reference in the background for yourself when you’re writing a book or a series. I think for me maybe 5% of what I’ve written into the back story and history of the Dominion of Man has actually made it into the Kin Wars Sagaso far.
For The Warp it’s a little different. I knew that most of w...

A New Look
I haven’t updated the look or feel to the site in almost a decade, so I figured it was as good of a time as any. I decided to reduce the image-heavy main page for my mobile users and focused instead on promoting the content within. I’ll be fleshing out more details within the subheaders soon as well, as soon as I copy/paste all the good stuff I want to share.
I also received my pro attendee confirmation for Dragoncon 2019 this past week. Yay! Very excited, and since I’m a wily veteran now of...

Free Short Story
In case you haven’t noticed, there’s a popup ad when you go to leave the website now. If you have a popup blocker, then you’re missing out on a free short story set in the Kin Wars universe titled I, Behemoth. This story is set roughly 30 years before the events of Wraithkin and stars one of my first reader’s favorite characters, Stephanos Griffon.
Here is the cover of said story as well, designed by J. F. Posthumus. It’s a little plain at first, but the longer you look at it the more you’ll...
