Happy Release Day Blast: A DIFFERENT CLASS by @LeighEllwood

A Different Class by Leigh Ellwood
a 1NS Story from Decadent Publishing
M/M Erotic Romance, 11000 words

From Leigh: I am thrilled to be part of the Decadent family! The idea for A Different Class came about after an invitation arrived for an upcoming high school reunion. I asked myself what might happen if somebody felt reluctant to attend because of bad experiences and memories, and how one night arranged by Madame Eve changes everything.
Right now I am halfway into the follow-up to this story, another hot M/M. I hope you’ll pick up A Different Class, and if you enjoy it drop me a line on Twitter at @LeighEllwood. J

FDR High Class of 2004 graduate, Glenn Carson contacts fellow alumni to get a list of who will be attending the upcoming festivities. One call to a disgruntled former student leaves him shaken—apparently, not everyone is looking forward to the reunion. Hoping to ease his frustration, he contacts the 1Night Stand service for a relaxing and passionate encounter.
Known as “Mumbles” to former classmates, Rod Maloney would prefer to focus on the present and his successful business. However, past tragedies continue to haunt him, so he requests Madame Eve find him a man to show him a hot time and help him forget his troubles.
Will their one night together lead to a reunion after all?

Excerpt
“Mr. Maloney? I hope I’m not disturbing you.”
“Who is calling?”
The voice—deep and rich, anything but a mumble—intimidated him. Maybe the guy had been a jock, a several-foot-wide football player who helped the school win the championship senior year. He hadn’t attended many games and had skipped homecoming. “Um….” Right, we’re planning a reunion here. “I’m representing the reunion committee of the Franklin D. Roosevelt High School Class of 2004. You can probably guess our big tenth is coming up—”
“You know what? I’m going to save you the sales pitch,” Mumbles Maloney said. “I don’t know who you are, and I don’t give a shit. It’s taken me a long time to get past all the crap I put up with in high school, and if you think I’m going to show up at some rented ballroom all smiles as though the hell you assholes you put me through never happened, forget it.”
What? The man’s anger surged through him and sped up his heartbeat. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean—”
“F*** you, f*** FDR High, and f*** every last piece-of-shit homophobe in that backwater town. I hope you all get cancer.”
Click.
Beth burst back into the room, waving a thick tome with a scaly blue cover. “Found it,” she chirped.
“Never mind.” Glenn pushed away from his workspace. Mumbles Maloney’s palpable rage lingered in the quiet of the small office, invoking a sense of doom in an otherwise dull place. He doubted he’d forget the voice for a long while. The man had pent-up issues with his former schoolmates, no doubt, yet for all the vitriol burning through the airwaves and sizzling in the veins, Mumbles had sounded…well….
Sexy.

Book Blitz: RAPT by Laurel Cremant

Rapt (An Erotic Tale)By Laurel Cremant    Rapt_1400x2100_300dpi   Blurb:

Jessica Sinclair has spent the last year tip toeing around her new boss Lucas Wright. She wants him and he knows it, but she has no intention of giving into temptation. She’s always enjoyed a little pain with her pleasure, but she never thought denial could feel so good. Every meeting drives her to a sexual edge and yet they’ve never shared a simple kiss. Resisting him has become a delicious game. Lucas Wright has enjoyed playing the waiting game with Jessica. The sadist in him enjoys every quip and parry they share. But every man has his limits and he’s officially reached his. He’d never thought that he would find his perfect match in a woman as stubborn as Jessica, but every teasing encounter has convinced him it’s time to put an end to their games and show her just how sweet surrender can be.

Excerpt: (18 + only – language and sexual situations) “You remember,” he said now with a smile. “What exactly am I supposed to be remembering?” she asked. “That I’m an incredibly observant man,” he said. She remained silent. “Nothing to say?” he asked. Licking her lips, she shook her head. “Excellent.” He leaned forward in his seat, resting his elbows on his knees, the hand holding his drink dangling down his leg. “Show me,” he said. His husky demand rocked her. Did she dare? “We can always not play,” he said at her hesitation. No! Her heart lurched at that possibility. As much as their new game challenged her, she didn’t want it to end. Instead, she licked her lips and held his gaze. It wasn’t difficult. When he was near she remained caught in a strange web of want and greedy expectation controlled only by him. She unfolded her arms and placed her hands at her sides, curling her fingers tight into her palms. The small bite of her nails digging into her skin helped ground her. Slowly, she uncrossed her legs and pressed her knees tightly together. His gaze didn’t flicker downward to look, the golden flecks in his eyes seemed to glow and held her transfixed. “Show me,” he said again. Taking a deep shaky breath, she unfurled her fingers and clenched the smooth satin of her skirt before pulling it up her thighs, inch by inch before settling the bunched material at her hips. “More.” At his husky demand, she spread her legs open, exposing her secret to him, feeling the cool caress of air drift over her naked sex. His gaze didn’t waver—it didn’t dip down to see what she offered to him. “Perfect. Now isn’t that better?” She nodded at a loss for words. She did feel better. Something about exposing herself to him—of them both being fully aware of her eagerness to please ratcheted up her need to another notch. “Good,” he said. “I remember that day so clearly. It was the first time I’ve ever seen you so distracted. Your eyes were glassy and bright. But you know what tipped me off to your naughty little secret?” he asked. She licked her lips unsure of how to answer. “You kept squirming in your chair crossing and uncrossing your legs and every now and then you would let out a sexy sigh. That’s when I knew and I wanted to see how long you could last like that. What it would take to break you? That was the day I realized we’d both been playing the same game all along.” He took another sip of his drink, a small smile playing across his lips. “I’d wondered about it for a while which is why extended my business trip. I wanted to see if our meetings where as stimulating to you as they were to me.” She clenched her hands tighter, her breath coming out in deep pants. She wanted him to look at her, to slide his hot gaze down to her center and see how wet and ready she was for him. He didn’t. Lucas continued to speak as if she wasn’t open and bared to him. “Another test?” she asked, her voice sounding wispy and thin to her ears. He nodded. “In a way. That’s when I realized that you and I could be great together. I loved watching you squirm, loved knowing that you sat there with your wet, creaming pussy, and that it was all for me. But most of all I enjoyed denying you that release, of knowing the pain of denial was bringing us both so much pleasure.” She couldn’t refute the truth in his words, even now as he spoke to her, ignoring her splayed legs, he kept her on edge. “I’ve always known that I’m a bit of a sadist,” he said. “But I’ve never been into physical pain. I’ve never wanted to whip a woman or spank her until she begged—although I can see the merits in that. My weakness has always been in denial, in a woman giving me ultimate control of her body and arousal, allowing me to determine when and where she gets to come.” “That day in my office I realized you wanted the same things. You were bringing yourself to the edge of orgasm all because we were both denying you pleasure. If I’m a bit of a sadist Jessica, you are most definitely a masochist.” “Then what does that make us?” she asked. A dimple flashed on his cheek as he smirked at her. “A perfect match,” he said.

Author, author... Spotlight on Affair in Athens by Matina Nicholas

Affair in Athens Matina Nicholas Blurb: Fulfilling her mother’s dying wish to discover her roots, Athena Vallas journeys to Greece and finds more than history as she reunites with a part of her family she didn’t know existed. While documenting her grandfather’s heroic role as a Greek Orthodox priest in Plaka, sheltering Jews during the Resistance in WWII, Athena meets Luke, a dangerously charismatic man who sees her as the ideal wife.
Drawn into an extravagant lifestyle, her attraction to Luke is intense until she discovers that he plays a high stakes game of illegal pursuits. When she attempts to distance herself, Luke refuses to relinquish his plans. Ruthlessly, he keeps his eye on the prize—Athena—who won’t compromise love for wealth or fidelity for lifestyle.
Affair in Athens includes a set of authentic Greek recipes at the back of the book, passed down through Matina’s family. Read, eat, and enjoy!

Authors Bio:
With a background in English and Education, and a dedication to transmit her love of writing to her students, Matina Nicholas taught writing and literature at university and high school levels. She has been published in educational texts, professional periodicals, and journals. Currently, she writes for the Condo News under the name Tina Chippas. This is her first novel.

Excerpt:

The old priest’s Byzantine chant, the heady smokiness of burning incense, the power of icons hundreds of years old staring down on her intoxicated her senses. She looked about the ancient Greek Orthodox church tucked under the Parthenon with a deep sense of awe and respect. This was where her grandfather had been priest for fifty years, where her mother had been christened and prayed and left behind so long ago. There were no pews, no chairs in this church. After all, "orthodox" meant upright. Dozens of candles in ornate brass candelabras flickered and cast mysterious shadows.

Athena’s eyes brimmed with tears. The altar swam before her. She was overwhelmed with a sense of coming home, of belonging. She knelt, covering her face with her hands, remembering her mother’s last days. Filled with love for her daughter, Amalia grieved that she would not live to see Athena married or have children. How could any daughter deny her mother’s last wish? Athena had promised to visit the tiny church in Plaka, learn of her Greek roots and her grandfather’s role in sheltering Jews during the Resistance.

Tears slipped through her fingers and dropped to the stone floor, the same stones where her grandparents had stood when they married, baptized their children, where their coffins had rested before they were buried. This was where her grandfather and his parishioners heroically stood when the Nazis trained their machine guns on them—Father Peter, in his black robes, face and arms raised in prayer, radiating strength and courage to his parishioners as they stood facing him. They had done God’s will by hiding and smuggling the Salonika Jews out of Athens into the remote countryside. "Pater Ev-lo-i-son Emas. Father bless us," they chanted, their voices abruptly silenced by the sharp, staccato bursts of the machine guns.

"My daughter." Athena felt strong hands on her shoulders. She raised her tear-stained face to see an old priest in the customary black robes, looking down at her. His bright blue eyes peered over his wire spectacles, his face creased in concern. "I am Father Nicholas. My child, how can I help you?" His English was quite good.

Tasty Tuesday & a Teaser ~ LE Franks

Every Tuesday we'll welcome an Author who will share a foodie type postwith a recipe or two and some book promo ! Today please help me welcome LE Franks...  *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *

Cookies versus Pie.
The debate is raging on over on my Facebook Page. It was an innocent enough question… I honestly couldn’t decide what recipe to showcase here. The Beef and Stout pie a little heavier, better for the early spring weather (though the weather seems to be holding steady on the damp and chilly side over much of the US, so it could still work well), or my outrageously popular Espresso Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie. Nothing lowly about that one… but is it too pedestrian? Dull? Unexciting for a food blog?
Trying to explain why someone might pick the pie over the cookie – or visa versa – I inadvertently stumbled across parts of my own history that I’d forgotten about. First, you must understand that if I have a deep-seated psychological anything, it’s the need to feed people.
Some of my earliest memories are cooking for my family. At the age of seven or eight I “invented” chicken cacciatore by covering chicken breasts in tomato sauce with sliced carrots and black olives (and probably no other seasoning) and sliding them in a hot oven to bake.
On the weekends I’d hang out in the kitchen with my father and chew on roasted coffee beans while he cursed at the manual coffee grinder. I’d wait for the coffee to finish dripping so he could have that first cup before moving on to the pancake production together.
And by the time I was in high school I was cooking for my friends.
(There is nothing quite like eating Chicken Chow Mein under the setting sun, standing around the back of a VW van in the middle of the Mojave desert.)
So as the discussion continues online, I realize that this cookie recipe has become more than a bake sale bestseller. It’s been with me for almost as long as some of my best friends, and by riffing on an old standby like the oatmeal cookie I’ve inadvertently transformed it into the lubrication that eases the way to forging new relationships and business opportunities alike. (After including these cookies in a lunch spread for an Indy film shoot in Golden Gate Park, I was hired to do the rest of their location catering, provided the cookies were part of every meal.)
Apparently espresso powder is a magic elixir elevating the flavors of brown sugar and cinnamon. The fact that I booted raisins from the recipe, replacing them with chocolate long ago, doesn’t hurt a bit.
On the other hand, the Beef and Stout Pie, while a newer addition to my repertoire, managed to cement my status as family chef with my stepmother-to-be and give us something in common—the love of my food… Trust me, that was a surprise and a gift; and like most of my best recipes, its success comes from fiddling with what’s already there.
By stripping out all the unnecessary vegetables from what is essentially a beef stew recipe and replacing the pedestrian mirepoix with deeply caramelized onions, finely minced rosemary, and enough crushed black pepper and sea salt to stand up to the intense flavor of the beer that everything is cooked in, we have a deeply satisfying dish, mellowed with the addition of extra sharp white cheddar.
Baking it in a pie shell that falls somewhere between a fine piecrust and puff pastry, you have a filling dish with a siren call capable of causing many a soul to flirt with disaster from repeated visits to the pie plate.
So where do we go from here? I’m cutting off the debate later tonight so I suppose the recipe you see next will tell you which way the poll went. But as for me, the only advice I can really give is this—go play with your food. - LE

ESPRESSO OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
Preheat Oven 350 degrees – back 8 – 10 minutes

Creamed Together:
¾ cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup granulate sugar
1 to ½ tsp. ground cinnamon
1 to 2 T. instant espresso powder
1 tsp. salt*
½ tsp. baking soda*

Wet:
1 egg
¼ cup water
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Dry:
1 cup flour
3 cups rolled oats
1 bag chocolate chips
Chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions:
Step One:       If you don’t have a stand mixer make sure your butter is softened to make mixing easier. Otherwise I just toss it in and let the mixer run for a few minutes until the butter is softened enough to add the sugar, mixing for several minutes until the mixture is well incorporated and appears pale and fluffy.

Step Two:*    Frankly I veer off a little at this point from traditional cookie directions. I prefer to add the salt, sifted baking soda, cinnamon, and espresso powder in the creamed butter. The butter is the perfect vehicle to evenly disburse the espresso & spices throughout the cookie on one hand, and avoid soda clumps and over salting on the other. So toss them all in now and mix until incorporated.

Step Three:   In with the rest of the wet ingredients… first the egg – make sure it’s well incorporated with the butter sugar mixture before adding in the liquids (water and vanilla) which will turn this into a slurry. Butter and water don’t mix any better than oil and water so don’t go crazy… you just want a fairly consistent mixture in preparation for finishing the cookie dough.

Step Four:      Add in the flour and at the very lowest setting. Incorporate the flour until barely mixed—6 or 7 short bursts.

This is where you kill your cookie. Water is now slow dancing with the gluten in the flour and given half a chance it will want to make bread. In the absence of candles and wine [otherwise known as yeast] it becomes tense. And a tense gluten is a tough cookie, which is only appreciated in film noir.

Step Four continued: Now comes the fun part. Dump the oatmeal in the mixer a cup at a time using the same short burst method (3 or 4 bursts between cups).  Upend the chocolate into the bowl next, as well as any nuts, and finish off the mixing (more short bursts, but you’ve gotten the hang of it now) until it barely hangs together.

I use a professional spatula to scrape down the sides of the bowl at each stage (engines off, please) and once everything is incorporated I try and run it along the bottom to incorporate anything loose down there.

Baking.          You’ve made cookies right? These are no different. Know your oven, watch your cookies…. Put them on a parchment covered cookie sheet using any method you prefer – ice cream scoop, dual spoons, great heaping fistfuls… they all work, they all take varying baking times so do a small test batch first. I prefer a small ice cream scoop, which makes fairly consistent balls that I flatten slightly with the wetted bottom of a juice glass.  I prefer a slightly softer cookie so mine usually take no more than 8-9 minutes.

This recipe doubles beautifully. Sometimes I dip them in melted chocolate like I did for the film crew.  You never know what you’ll get offered once you hand these bad boys out.

Can This Be Real – LE Franks
Release date April 25, 2014 – MLR Press

Blurb:

Chef Christian De Guisse can’t trust a man who doesn’t love his food, Detective Andrew Simmons won’t let any man close who thinks he’s broken—somewhere between these two points, love is possible, but only if they get real.

When Chef Christian De Guisse accidently outs Celebrity Chef Jordan Slayer during a fight in front of The Times entertainment reporter—it only gets Christian ex-boyfriend status and a one-way plane ticket to culinary exile in Oregon. But a fortuitous meeting with Detective Andrew Simmons at the Portland airport keeps De Guisse and his collection of exotic herbs out of the hands of homeland security, starting the chemistry simmering between them.

Andy isn’t much of a foodie and for a chef who communicates love through his cooking this may be one hurdle too high.

Author, author... Interview with Tessa from Dragonfly Moments by Kathy Bosman

...read all about it !!

Thank you to Krista Ames for hosting me on your blog today. Tessa had an absolute ball answering your interview questions for her. Krista writes contemporary romance and has a cowboy one (yummy) published with Decadent Publishing. She also runs promos and tours for authors with “Bridging the Gap Promotions.”

It's the sixth stop of my tour today. Don't forget there are still great prizes to be won. Enter by clicking the rafflecopter link below.

This is for Tessa Calitz, my heroine

How did you first meet your writer?
We met years ago when she was very green. She forgot about me for a while because she couldn’t really touch my soul properly, but then she learned some things and was able to reach deep into my psyche.
Did you ever think that your life would end up being in a book?
Never. I’ve always been fascinated by stories but never considered my story was worth it, but after I read the book, I realized that maybe people could identify with the struggles I’d been through.
What are your favorite scenes in your book: the action, the dialog or the romance?
The romance of course. If it weren’t for Ryan’s romantic side, I probably would have landed up very lonely.
Did you have a hard time convincing your author to write any particular scenes for you?
My author took a while to admit my secret yearnings for a baby of my own. She didn’t want to reveal those secrets, but it was good she did so the readers could understand why I pushed Ryan away so much.
What do you like to do when you are not being actively read somewhere?
Paint. I love to sketch and paint. It takes me into another world, and I love seeing something come to life on a blank canvas or paper.
Are you happy with the genre your writer has placed you in?
Initially, no, I would have preferred woman’s fiction because I didn’t think I needed romance in my life, but in the end, I can see she chose the best genre for my heart.
If you could rewrite anything in your book, what would it be?
When we look back on the struggles we go through, we sometimes wish we could rewrite the stupid mistakes we’ve made, but in the end, they help us to discover who we are and who we are meant to be, so, no, I don’t think I’d change a thing.
Do you like the way the book ended?
Well, if I answer that, you may figure out the ending so I’m going to keep my mouth shut.
What do you do for a living?
I run my own art gallery and paint landscapes. I also paint clock faces.
What is your greatest fear?
My greatest fear is to grow old alone without kids and a family.
What do you wear when you go to sleep?
I like an oversized T-shirt and socks. Nothing else.
What is your most prized possession?
My easel. It’s imported and cost a fortune but it was well worth the effort of getting it here.
Did you have a pet as a child?  What happened to it?  How did you feel about that?
I had a yellow lab and he took me for walks. Seriously, I couldn’t keep up with him, but he kept me company as it was often lonely with just Mom and I.
What are you proudest of?
I went back to college again even after I’d been working a while – changed careers from a clerk to artist, and I’m so glad I took that step and followed my heart. It was hard to work part time and study but now I’ve got my own art gallery.
What is something no one knows about you?  Why do you keep it a secret?  And what would happen if everyone found out about it?
I paint mother and child pictures which I stash into my cupboard. I also buy baby magazines whenever I see a new one on the shelf. No one sees them because I don’t want anyone to know how obsessed I am about having a kid even though I’m single. They would probably think I’m this crazy woman if they found out.
What do you find most appealing in men/women?
I like a man who is sure of himself and where he’s going in life.
What do you find most unappealing in men/women?
Someone who lacks commitment and stickability.
What do you like most about where you live?
I live in Johannesburg, South Africa. I love the busyness, the good array of shops and entertainment, and being able to drive to just about any activity I can think of except for the beach which is highly overrated anyway.
What word makes you the happiest?
Togetherness.
What turns you on?
Often what turns me on has nothing to do with my inner aspirations. Often it’s when a man has a rough, imperfect look and does impulsive things.
What turns you off?
Pushiness.
What other profession would you like to try?
I’d like to run an orphanage one day – help out kids without parents and give them love and a home.
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
I’m a night owl. Often my best painting times are late at night when the world is silent.
Have you ever thought about getting a tattoo, what would it be and where? If not, what if you had to?
I’d been wanting to get one for years but never plucked up the courage to until Ryan took me to get one in the book. I haven’t look back and have gotten about three others since. I’m an artist so I like to design my own.
What do you admire about your parents?
I admire my mother the most. She looked after me as a single mom and always had time for me even though she was so busy working and keeping the home in order. *    *    *    *    *    *

Author, author.... @karenbbooth and LOVE FINDS A WAY + a $25 Publisher GC

...read all about it !!!

Super excited to be the second stop on the tour for the LOVE FINDS A WAY boxed set by four amazing, best-selling authors!  It was my pleasure to be able to personally interview Karen Booth, the author of Bring Me Back.

Welcome Karen, so great to have you here with us.  Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I’m a MN girl living in Chapel Hill, NC, a married mom of two, a romance and women’s fiction author, and an unrepentant Duran Duran fan.
Do real life events find their way into your stories? Absolutely!
It’s never exactly as they happened, but real life offers so much inspiration, especially the things that happen with my husband and kids. In ‘Bring Me Back’, several of the things that Christopher says to Claire are things that my husband has said to me.
Do you ever mimic family members or people you know when you choose characters?
I usually only draw on the small details, like specific ways of dressing or mannerisms. I would never make a caricature of the people I know and love, mostly because they would likely never forgive me. That being said, people always ask, “So, who am I in your book?”
Do you find yourself going back to the same inspiration for each story or is it always something different?
The answer is somewhere in-between. I don’t think I could write a book that doesn’t include a love story. I’m too drawn to it. My ideas almost always stem from a specific character, and I am very attached to writing books about heroes and heroines who are creative—musicians, painters, writers. I don’t think I could write a book about a steel magnate, but I could write the heck out of a hunky basket-weaver.
When do you write?  Early morning? During the day sometime or all day?  After the kids go to bed?
I write off and on all day, but my best time is super early in the morning, before the kids get up for school. I can accomplish more in an hour when the house is quiet than for the rest of the day. My second prime time is in the minivan in the middle school parking lot, waiting for my son to get out of school. Ah, the glamorous life of a writer!
How do you feel about marketing your book?
I love the social aspect of it, but I don’t really think of it as marketing—there’s very little in the way of precision to this part of an author’s job. I believe in selling one book at a time and taking the time to connect with every reader who’s interested in connecting with you. That’s the best marketing. That, and writing more books.
What social sites do you feel work best for marketing? I think Twitter and Facebook are the best. It’s possible to have a conversation. It should always be a back-and-forth, not pushing something in someone’s face and hoping they’re interested.
Do you like to pitch stories to your publisher or do you wait until you have written the story and have a final manuscript to turn in?
I prefer to submit completed manuscripts, but I don’t have the luxury of time anymore. It’s necessary to submit books on proposal so that I can keep a steady stream of releases. In the age of digital books, you need at least two new titles a year and preferably more.
Is there any other genre that you would love to try writing?  If so, what is it?
I would love to learn how to write romantic suspense—there’s a real art to building suspense and I know that I haven’t yet mastered it.

Do you always/ever see yourself as the heroine/hero when you write a story? Claire, the heroine in ‘Bring Me Back’, is probably the most like me, but that’s probably because it was my first novel. I think I had a lot in my head that had to come out and Claire was my vehicle. Now I merely try to put myself in their place, while remaining at least a little objective about what they are doing.

Just for fun, I have a few personal questions,
Favorite 5
1)      Favorite Male Actor  - I’m a wee bit obsessed with Idris Elba. He is an incredible actor and more than a little handsome.
2)      Favorite vehicle – Aston Martin. Preferably with John Taylor as my personal driver.
3)      Favorite way to relax – Sitting on the screen porch on a warm afternoon, drinking a cocktail and listening to music.
4)      Favorite ice cream – I was going to say that “ice cream” is my favorite ice cream, but I’ll say Mint Chocolate Chip. Love it.
5)      Favorite outfit – a sleeveless top, busted jeans (rolled up), and flip-flops. I’m a total summer girl.
And for a bonus:  If you could pick any place in the world to live, besides where you are now, where would it be?  (Of course, without the hindrance of jobs or money needed) Any place that’s warm and on the beach, with a writing space that overlooks the ocean. That would be perfect.

‘Hiding in the Spotlight’ is my next book, which comes out May 29th from Turquoise Morning Press.
Alex Halford’s rock-star husband, Glenn, steals away in the middle of the night, leaving her with their two boys, a mountain of debt, and one person to turn to—his lifelong friend and band mate, David Callahan. David helps Alex pick up the pieces of her shattered life, happy to have any time with the woman he’s loved for seventeen years. Every moment with her is ripe with opportunity, and every last idea running through his mind would destroy his brotherly bond with Glenn.  Out from under Glenn’s thumb, Alex can see the person she was before marriage, finding feelings for David she thought she’d left behind in high school. A single kiss and the floodgates open, giving her new hopes of happiness. But when David and Glenn’s band has a chance to be back on top, David must convince Glenn to return. With every passing day, success comes closer, Glenn’s ego inflates, and David and Alex find it more difficult to hide. One misstep and the secret comes out, forcing David to choose between his life’s work and the woman he doesn’t want to leave behind. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20882765-hiding-in-the-spotlight http://karenbooth.net/hiding-spotlightOne last thing before we let you leave us today :)  Do you have a favorite recipe you'd like to share?  I like to cook and am always looking for new recipes to try and share...
I’m sharing my recipe for Olive Oil Cornmeal Pound Cake—it’s SO delicious, sweet and moist. Always a home-run.
Olive Oil Cornmeal Pound Cake
¾ cup olive oil, plus more for the pan
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour, plus more for the pan
¾ cup finely ground cornmeal
½ t baking powder
½ t baking soda
½ t salt
¾ C buttermilk
2 large eggs
1 1/2 C sugar
1 t vanilla
zest of ½ orange

Directions:
Heat over to 350 F. Oil a loaf pan and dust with flour, tapping out the excess. Be thorough—this pound cake likes to stick.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a medium bowl, whisk together the olive oil, buttermilk, eggs, sugar, vanilla and orange zest. Add to the dry ingredients and mix just until combined. Do not over-mix—lumps are okay.
Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and bake until golden and a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean, 50 to 55 minutes. Let cool for 20 minutes in the pan then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Slice and enjoy!*   *   *   *   *   *LOVE  FINDS  A WAY  Boxed Set

Author, author... Love's Sorrow by Terri Rochenski

Please welcome a guest post from Terri Rochenski....

A day in the life of author Terri RochenskiI giggled when I saw this topic request because every day is different. As a stay-at-home mom to three little yummies, rarely does a day go by the same as the one before. Between kindergarten and pre-school drop offs at different times and schools, and two afternoons of gymnastics, life is hectic. My day begins around 5:30 am when the little man wakes up to be nursed. Since I’m a morning person, I really don’t mind. I feed the little yums then sip my vanilla chai tea while checking email and catching up on my daily networking.Once my two daughters wake up between 6:30 and 7:00am, my day really begins. The best are Tuesday and Thursday mornings when they’re both in school for a few hours and I get to don my author hat. Yeeha! If Luke doesn’t nap, however, I end up playing toys on the floor, pen and clipboard on the coffee table beside me (like right now!!), jotting down scenes, blog posts, or to-do lists as they come to me.11:45 am is the 1stpick up, 1:30pm the 2nd. Once I have all three children at home, I rarely have time to entertain a sane thought let alone write a scene from someone else’s PoV.Play more toys, homework, make & clean up after dinner, bath time, read books, clean up toys, then finally bed time.At this point I inhale a deep breath and flop on the couch for an hour or two. On the rare occasion I have brain cells left, I’ll attempt some editing. If not, I read while the hub’s Pawn Stars or American Pickers drones in the background.Once my eyelids refuse to stay propped open, it’s between my flannel sheets I go to gear up for another day.Don’t ask me HOW I’ve gotten some much accomplished in the past 2 years. I can’t remember. How ‘bout you? Have a set schedule? A hectic life that affords little author time?*   *   *   *   *   *   *Love’s Sorrow(Means of Mercy #1)A Sweet Historical RomancebyTerri Rochenskiblurb: Hired as a nanny for her cousin’s children, Anne Tearle finds security and a loving family. The children are a dream, but London society is a world of its own, one where a displaced farm girl has no business being. But, wealthy rake, Gavin MacKay, helps her to see associating with the upper class might not be as horrid as she first assumed.

Like all things worthwhile, love comes at a price, and the cost soon bestows more anguish than joy. Lost, but not undone, Anne must find the courage to begin life anew, or succumb to sorrow's unrelenting waves of grief.

Bio:

Terri started writing stories in the 8th grade, when a little gnome whispered in her brain. Gundi’s Great Adventure never hit the best seller list, but it started a long love affair with storytelling.

Today she enjoys an escape to Middle Earth during the rare 'me' moments her three young children allow.  When not playing toys, picking them back up, or kissing boo-boos, she can be found sprawled on the couch with a book or pencil in hand, and toothpicks propping her eyelids open.

Tasty Tuesday & A Teaser ~ Cheryl Norman

Every Tuesday we'll welcome an Author who will share a foodie type postwith a recipe or two and some book promo ! Today please help me welcome Cheryl Norman...

The Colonel’s Chicken
By Cheryl Norman

I announced my retirement four years ago. Silly me. Writers don’t retire. We write until we die. It isn’t a career; it’s a calling. So right before my sixty-fifth birthday (yes, that’s 65), I rejoined Romance Writers of America, sold a Christmas short story to one publisher, and pitched a category romance series to another. I participated in (and actually completed) the NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) challenge, completing the first novel in my Drake Springs series. By my birthday, I had signed my first ever multi-book contract.
At an age when most people retire from jobs, I jumped back in with both feet. Reminds me of the true story of Harland Sanders. You may know him as Colonel Sanders. He was a genuine Kentucky colonel and dressed the part. His delicious fried chicken is legendary. But did you know he held many jobs, was fired from a few, and didn’t settle in a career until he was . . . (ta da) sixty-five? That’s right. In 1955, he sold his restaurant in Corbin and hit the road selling franchises of his secret recipe fried chicken, dubbed “Kentucky Fried Chicken” by his first franchisee in Utah, in 1952. The moniker stuck and now the chain is known globally as KFC.
Today, Yum! owns KFC and offers a number of dishes unrelated to Colonel Sanders’s recipes, but always his trademark chicken anchors their KFC menus.
The colonel made his fortune after he reached the age when most apply for Social Security and Medicare. His success story inspires me to continue writing, but it also inspires me to cook up a batch of his chicken recipe. This is no easy task since his herbs and spices are a secret. But using his method (pressure frying) and a knock off product called Kentucky Kernel Seasoned Flour, I come close enough.

If you don’t have a commercial pressure cooker (I confess. I do. I’m a kitchen nerd.), you can deep fry or skillet fry. It just takes more time. You’ll need the following ingredients:

1 2½-3 lb. fryer chicken, cut up
1 egg beaten in one cup buttermilk
1 box Kentucky Kernel Seasoned Flour (Available at most groceries and online)
½ cup corn starch
1 quart peanut oil

Soak the chicken in the egg/buttermilk mixture for 30 minutes.
Preheat the oil in the pressure cooker to 350°F. Use a candy thermometer because accuracy is crucial.
Combine cornstarch with the seasoned flour. Coat individual pieces of chicken in the flour until thoroughly covered.
Using tongs, carefully add each piece to the oil to brown. After 30 seconds, turn each piece. Don’t crowd your cooker. If necessary, cook the chicken in two batches.
Place lid on the pressure cooker, bring to pressure, and then time for six minutes (or 3 minutes per pound of chicken).
Quick-release pressure according to your manufacturer’s guidelines. Carefully remove cooker lid away from your face to avoid injury.
Remove each piece of chicken using the tongs and place on a platter. Serve immediately.
Every time you enjoy a piece of KFC,
think of Colonel Sanders and how he proved that success knows no age limit.
