Kathy lives in South Africa, where the summers are hot, the winters cool, and bugs thrive. She writes fiction in many forms, most of the time with women who feel deeply, men who care strongly, and characters who learn lessons along the way.

Every so often, she sprinkles a little magic in her stories. When she’s not hectically busy, she loves reading romance and fantasy novels, going dancing, watching movies, water painting, and exploring the spiritual world.

We Need to Get Rid of the Stigma of Mental Illness

Mental illness is just an illness. We are so blessed to live in a day and age where there are advanced drugs and ways to treat people so they can live close to normal lives. There are so many people who are walking around with undiagnosed mental illnesses, who are not getting the help they need because they see it as a weakness. But sometimes, the chemicals in our brains just go out of sync for... Read more of this blog post »

Once again, I absolutely adore David Michie's writing. This book kept me gripped from one scene to the next. I did not want to put it down. I loved the parallel stories, and the multiple cliffhangers. I had goose bumps come up so many times during ...more

Glennon Doyle Melton
“Wherever you go, there you are. Your emptiness goes with you. Maddening. Things that help: writing, reading, water, walks, forgiving myself every other minute, practicing easy yoga, taking deep breaths, and petting my dogs. These things don't fill me completely, but they remind me that it is not my job to fill myself. It's just my job to notice my emptiness and find graceful ways to live as a broken, unfilled human...

If there's a silver lining to the emptiness, here it is: the unfillable is what brings people together. I've never made a friend by bragging about my strengths, but I've made countless by sharing my weakness and my emptiness.”
Glennon Doyle Melton, Carry On, Warrior: Thoughts on Life Unarmed

Glennon Doyle Melton
“We think our job as humans is to avoid pain, our job as parents is to protect our children from pain, and our job as friends is to fix each other's pain. Maybe that's why we all feel like failures so often - because we all have the wrong job description for love.”
Glennon Doyle Melton, Love Warrior

Glennon Doyle Melton
“I think one of the keys to happiness is accepting that I am never going to be perfectly happy. Life is uncomfortable. So I might as well get busy loving the people around me. I’m going to stop trying so hard to decide whether they are the “right people” for me and just take deep breaths and love my neighbors. I’m going to take care of my friends. I’m going to find peace in the ’burbs. I’m going to quit chasing happiness long enough to notice it smiling right at me.”
Glennon Melton, Carry On, Warrior: Thoughts on Life Unarmed

Glennon Doyle Melton
“Women who are concerned with being pretty think about what they look like, but women who are concerned with being beautiful think about what they are looking at. They are taking it all in. They are taking in the whole beautiful world and making all that beauty theirs to give away to others.”
Glennon Doyle Melton, Love Warrior

Glennon Doyle Melton
“Because love is not something for which to search or wait or hope or dream. It's simply something to do.”
