Happy Release to Red Tape Protector and Kathy Kulig #giveaway

Red Tape ProtectorBook 2, FLC Case Files seriesKathy Kulig

When a member of a top-secret White House society makes a critical mistake, she’s not fired, she’s given a new assignment—a trainee as an undercover security agent and assassin. Sexy, Black-ops agent must prepare her for the dangerous mission. Sometimes you can’t run away…from love or danger…

The FLC Case Files series are Steamy Romantic Suspense romances with some BDSM elements.
#1 RED TAPE#2 RED TAPE PROTECTOR#3 RED TAPE BETRAYAL – Coming soon  Read Excerpt:After fifteen minutes of buzzing the nurse, Alana gave up and swung open the door. Jag stood there alone, blocking her way. “Yes, ma’am?”Alana looked up at fierce blue eyes and a deep-set brow. Jag usually worked nights with one other guard. “Where’s your partner?” She glanced down the empty hallway. No patients or hospital personnel. Normally she heard carts rolling up and down the halls and voices of nurses, doctors and cleaning people at all hours of the night. It was too quiet. Where was everyone? It was almost seven thirty and all the nurses should have returned from their breaks. The hackles rose on the back of her neck. After the car bomb and Zoe’s abduction, she’d become overly paranoid. Would she ever be able to live without looking over her shoulder? Now that they were letting her go, she hated to sit around. If it wasn’t for the stash of cash she had hidden in her apartment—and hoped was still there—she’d try to leave town tonight. She didn’t need to waste Julia’s time by waiting for the forty-eight hours. She’d made her decision. She bit her lower lip and a rolling sensation swept the pit of her stomach. “I need to see my nurse. She’s not answering the buzzer.”He frowned. “Are you in pain?” His tone changed. Softer. Was he concerned?“No, I need a bath, and I want to remove the bandages.”One side of his mouth quirked into a grin. “Can’t you take a bath by yourself?”“I can, but I need supplies so I can change the dressings.” She touched the gauze on her left arm. “And I want a bath. My room only has a shower. They’ve let me use one of the empty rooms down the hall.” It was also closer to the back stairs. If they left her alone for a few minutes, she might have enough time to get away.He frowned. “I’ll send her as soon as she gets back from her rounds.”She stepped into the hall and he blocked her from going farther. “Honestly, I could ask someone at the desk myself. I just need a few things.”“It’s against orders for you to leave your room.” He pressed his lips together. He wasn’t amused. “You work for the White House, Ms. MacKenna. You know what it means to follow orders.”“I do.” She winced at that because not following orders was what had gotten her into trouble in the first place. Did he know? “But I have left my room when they’ve given me the luxury of a hot bath. Besides that, they’re letting me leave tomorrow. I don’t think I need a guard anymore.”“I haven’t been given a change in orders,” he argued.Alana huffed. “I used to be a nurse and I know how to care for wounds. I could get the supplies myself from their supply shelves.”He shook his head. “It’s for your safety. They don’t want you to leave this room.”She studied him for a minute. “You’re not like the other guards, the ones who work days. I don’t know what it is. Are you secret service?” Alana raised her chin, trying a different approach, but it did little to help her confidence. Without heels, she was five-foot-ten and still looked short compared to this guy. He was muscular, but lean, like a cross between a weightlifter and marathon runner.“How am I different?” He raised one eyebrow, perhaps amused by her observation.“I don’t know. The others are obvious secret service in their black suits and coiled earpieces. So cliché.”He glanced down at his outfit, the same as the others, then pointed to the same earpiece. “What’s different?”“You don’t belong in the suit. You don’t look comfortable. I imagine you in camouflage, combat boots and hoisting an enormously heavy automatic weapon like in one of those military thrillers.”He smiled and let out a grunt of a laugh. The man could smile. “You have good observational skills. I used to be in the military. But from what I hear, you could work on your sound judgment.” He tapped a finger on the bandage on her arm.“Funny,” she said. “And who told you about me? What did they tell you?”His pleasant manner suddenly froze to the original stone-set, unemotional state. “I’ll ask for your nurse to come to your room. Wait inside.” He pointed to the center of the room as a signal for her to move so he could close the door.Alana planted her feet in the doorway. She wanted out of this place so badly she could taste it. It was Friday night and Liam would probably be at Paradise Underground. She doubted they’d let her in with the clothes Julia had left her. They required proper attire. And it was a little late to go shopping for fetish wear. She didn’t have much cash on her either. “I’ll wait here. I’m bored, the walls are closing in. Why don’t you tell me what your real name is and where you’re from? Is Jag a nickname?” She glanced down the hall, looking for Beth, her nurse, or another nurse or aide. No one was in sight.“Jagger Denison. I’m from North Carolina.” Dark amusement glimmered in his steel-blue eyes.At the club, she could read men, knew if they were dominant or submissive, could tell if they were experienced or virgins to the lifestyle. She could also tell if they were lying. This guy she couldn’t read. No emotion. Was he this cold in bed too? “You prefer Jag?” She smiled. He nodded. Power and authority radiated through him. His gaze swept her room, scanning for what? Hidden dangers? Then he returned his focus back to her.She checked the time. Seven-thirty. It was going to be a long night. “I’ll start my bath. If you like, you’re welcome to watch.” She hoped she could embarrass him into giving her a few minutes alone. A few minutes were all she needed. An eyebrow rose. “She won’t be long. You’re not her only patient.”I bet I’m the only one with twenty-four-hour guards.

Reviews for Red tape, book 1:“This was such a different take on BDSM romance! It had a bit of everything, suspense, intrigue, romance and hot steamy sex scenes. I would love for this to be a TV show! It reminds me of Scandal with a BDSM element. The characters are strong and likable, the plot will have you wondering what's next and the sex will have you blushing. The story has a wonderful build up to a fast paced ending that suits the main characters well. If you are looking for suspense with a bit of a twist, this is your book!” ~Amazon reviewer
“I definitely enjoyed Red Tape, Zoe was a strong, self-sufficient agent and the suspense element was great especially the ending. It was suspense with a touch of National Treasure (the movie)bits with a side of BDSM.” ~Goodreads reviewer.
“HOLY HOTNESS BDSM.  Wow, can't wait for more of this political BDSM series. It is a really fun premise, First Lady BDSM for freedom.  OMG…” ~Blogger reviewer.
“Loved this one! It maybe my favorite of the set. So much going on and so much to lose. I really loved this set up for a book. BDSM, suspense, behind the scenes of the White House, and so much more. A great read. Love Zoe and Jason. The past they have together only adds to the current mission. Who doesn't love a book with secret missions that are about sex? Great plot and one I will read over and over again!” ~ Amazon reviewer

It's All About the Author with Suzy Turner #StormySummer

It’s All About the Author…
Please tell us 5 interesting facts about yourself that readers might not know about you … * I have a belly button piercing* Although I’m British, I’ve lived most of my life in Portugal* I gave up dying my hair a few years ago and I’m loving going silver (!) * I once ‘stalked’ Bonnie Tyler (one of my childhood idols) around the airport to try and get a photo. I failed :(* I worked as the Script Supervisor for a feature length British movie a few years ago. It was hard going but an amazing experience.

What do you like to do in your spare time? Watch TV. I’m such a couch potato when I want to be :)

Is there one book that you love to read over and over again?  If so, what is it and what is it that keeps you coming back to it?
Strangely enough, it’s a book totally different from my usual reads: Memoirs of a Geisha - I’ve read it several times. It’s just so amazing (the movie is great too). I can’t even tell you why… it’s just so good.

How did you get started writing and have you always wanted to be an author? I guess I always wanted to do some kind of writing because my career began in journalism. Whilst working for a newspaper in my 20s, I read a really inspiring article about one of my favourite authors at the time, Jenny Colgan. She just inspired me to try and give it a go myself. So I did but it didn’t work out back then so I carried on with life until I was made redundant five years ago and I saw it as the perfect opportunity to become a fully fledged author. I’m lucky to have the most understanding and supportive husband!

If you for some reason couldn’t be an author, what would your other choice be?
I’ve always secretly craved to be a model, but then isn’t that what most women would love? lol!)

Did you like school?  Were you a good student? Yes and yes! I was actually voted (by students and teachers) to become Head Girl but then I moved schools :(

When you write, is there a specific way you have to write, ie:  certain room, noise or quiet, computer or paper etc… I’m pretty easy going. The only thing that’s really important is that I need to be alone. I find my husband to be quite a distraction! Having said that, I did once write in a cafe and got quite a lot done.

If you could write a collaboration with another author, do you have one in mind and what would you write? I’ve made so many amazing online author friends over the past few years and there’s loads I’d love to collaborate with but if I had to choose one, I’d go with Shalini Boland. Her books are absolutely brilliant and to top it off, she’s such a lovely person. I hope to physically meet her one day.

How do you come up with your story ideas?  I’m inspired me so many things. For example, Raven was inspired by a place in British Columbia, whereas The Morgan Sisters was inspired by an actor I worked with and it was an experience I had as a child with Forever Fredless.

Do titles stump you or do they come easy?  When do you pick a title, before the story is written or when it’s done? Some books I have the title before I start but others I wait until I’m further into the story. I’ve never had much trouble coming up with them though… it’s part of the fun!

Do you keep a notebook near you for when new ideas pop into your head? I usually have a notepad by my bed and I used to carry one in my handbag but lately I just use the notes app on my phone.

If you write a series, do you re-read your previous books before you begin the new one? I usually just read the last one to remind me about everything that happened. I wish I had a better memory!

How does your family feel about your writing? They’re very proud of me :D

Thanks for sharing “you as an author” with us !  We hope you’ll come back and visit again soon!

It's All About the Author with Barbara Valentin @spinninginburbs #giveaway

So thrilled to have Barbara Valentin with us today !! It’s All About the Author…
Please tell us 5 interesting facts about yourself that readers might not know about you … a.    I make a mean coq au vin.b.    If given a choice between watching reality TV and jumping over a moat filled with ravenous sharks, I’d take my chances with the moat.c.    I love to eat (especially coq au vin).d.   I almost died in a car accident when I was 28.e.    I can still fit into my parochial high school uniform skirt (if you knew me in high school, you’d know how unimpressive this is). That I still have the skirt after all these years is interesting, though…right?
What do you like to do in your spare time?  Shower, sleep, eat, repeat

How did you get started writing and have you always wanted to be an author? I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t writing. People didn’t start reading what I wrote, though, until the Chicago Tribune picked up my parenting column and everything started falling into place after that.
If you for some reason couldn’t be an author, what would your other choice be? I love to sing, but I can’t imagine anyone ever paying to hear me, so maybe a professional lip-syncher.

Did you like school?  Were you a good student? Let me put it this way: in high school, my algebra teacher wrote in my yearbook, “What’s out the window?”

When you write, is there a specific way you have to write, ie:  certain room, noise or quiet, computer or paper etc… I need it absolutely quiet, no distractions of any kind. Not even music. Just me and my laptop. I’ve tried hiding away in my bedroom (with the door locked), but my kids still managed to find me. So now, I’m a regular at the library or on the top-level single seat section of the “quiet” car on my train with ear plugs firmly in place. Just don’t ask my husband how many times he’s had to come pick me up in the next county over because I missed my stop.

How do you come up with your story ideas? Not to sound too ethereal, but they just come to me and won’t let me go until I write them down - rather like when one of my boys wants dinner and refuses to acknowledge that there is an adult male in the house who is fully capable of kicking out the same meals I do.

Do titles stump you or do they come easy?  When do you pick a title, before the story is written or when it’s done?    Titles are so important! They set the tone for the entire book. Once I have a vague idea for a story, I have to come up with the title before I start writing to make sure it clicks. I’m guessing Margaret Mitchell used the same process for her sweeping epic, Gone with the Wind. If she waited to come up with a title until she was finished with it, she might have used something like Scarlett Does Savannah.

Do you keep a notebook near you for when new ideas pop into your head? Yes, and it’s stuffed with sticky notes I scribble on when I’m at my day job or in the car. Besides my kids, it’s my most valuable possession (but better ‘cause it doesn’t talk back).
How does your family feel about your writing? My husband knew what he was getting himself into when he married me and therefore waived all rights to complain about having to take on the parenting and household stuff when I’m on deadline. My boys, (I hope) are proud of me. Next time we actually have a conversation that extends beyond, “Hi, Sweetie, how are you?” and “Fine,” I’ll be sure to ask.

Thanks for sharing “you as an author” with us !  We hope you’ll come back and visit again soon!

Author Bio:  Julie Mulhern always wanted to be a writer. She spent her childhood creating pen names and dreaming of exotic, mysterious, romantic places. To that end, she went to Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia (because, when you’re from the Midwest, the South is both exotic and romantic). There she earned degrees in politics and French. She even spent a year living in Paris. But the Midwest beckoned and she returned home. Now she lives with her husband, two daughters and a dastardly dog. It might not be exotic or mysterious but it is romantic.

Excerpt:“You’re still here, Mr. Barnes.” Apparently he meant to continue plaguing her. He showed no sign of leaving. She wanted him gone, yet she was glad he’d stayed. Her lips pursed. She was annoyed and wasn’t precisely sure with whom.“You keep late hours, Miss Boudreaux.”She wandered about the room, too bothered by him to be still. Instead, she collected empty glasses and lined them up on the narrow table used for the bar.“Nothing to say?” Zeke’s voice mocked her.“It’s early. On the weekends, we stay busy ‘til dawn.”“Well then, I imagine you still have plenty of energy.”His eyes skimmed her body, lingering on her breasts. Her body tightened beneath his gaze and she silently cursed its betrayal. She yawned bigger than Diddy. “It’s a shame there’s nothing worth staying up for.”He chuckled, a low sound from deep in his throat. Again her perfidious body responded. Heat pooled, tempting her to abandon the tenets that protected her. Worse, the accursed man raised an eyebrow and smiled as if he could detect her body’s yearnings from the comfort of his chair.“Who are you and why are you here?” she asked. Real emotion colored her voice. Well, why not? His mere presence had bedeviled her all night. And now his eyes stripped the dress clean off of her. How dare he disturb her well-ordered existence? She had responsibilities. She didn’t need the distraction of a man who would leave her. She scanned the room. There were no more glasses for her to gather, so instead she collected ashtrays.“I work for the government. I’m investigating the murders.” He’d deliberately misunderstood. “I think you know something about them.”She paused, an ashtray filled with the soggy ends of Cuban cigars clutched in her hand. Could she hurl the dirty crystal fast enough to hit him with it? At the very least, a few cigar butts might mar the pristine whiteness of his shirt. She set the dirty ashtray down on a table with a resounding thunk. “I already told you, I don’t.”He shook his head and a lock of his hair fell across his forehead. With a careless gesture, he brushed it aside. Trula arranged the dirty ashtrays in a neat line so she didn’t have to look at him.“I’d also like to know you better.”Trula took a slow breath. “You seem to ignore answers you don’t like. I’m not available.”“Ever?” Disbelief lurked in the gravel of his voice. That gravel—it was the sound of lust—dark and tempting and forbidden. Her heart leapt for her throat. She squared her shoulders and stared straight into his eyes. “Never.”

He sucked in a breath. “That would be tough to swallow. I might be pissed off, plenty pissed off, but I’d never try to get you fired or anything.”
“Or sabotage me? Or a project I was working on?”
“Nope. Not my style. In fact, I’m usually the one to leave.”
She laughed again. “Really? That’s funny. Then, you have no experience and don’t know what you’d do.”
“Hell, I’ve been living with myself for forty-two years. I know what I wouldn’t do.”
She sauntered over to him and gazed up into his eyes. “It’s funny what passion turned backward can do.”
“Not remove all my standards.”
“You like to win.”
“On the field.”
“In life.”
“I’ve had enough women to know each one is not necessarily the last.”
“Ouch!”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to insult you,” he said, and hugged her to him.
“God, you smell good,” he whispered into her hair.
“You didn’t. I get it.”
“You’re different.”
“Oh? I thought I was just another woman who came along.”
“Nope. You’re beautiful, smart, and know the game. That’s unique.”
“Thanks.” She closed her eyes and lost herself in his arms again. He stroked her back. Jo lifted her head and eased out of his embrace.
“Coffee’s done its job. I think I’d better go…while I can.”
He nodded. “I’ll get your coat and walk you to your car.” He held her wrap while she slipped her arms in the sleeves then closed his around her, bent, and kissed her neck. Jo shifted her head back to rest on his shoulder. The feather-soft feel of his lips made her tremble.“Sorry,” he said, straightening up. “I must have been a vampire in another life. Can’t resist a pretty neck.”
When she turned, he grabbed her and kissed her with raw passion, angling his head to deepen it. He stole her breath. Then, it was over.
Eyes bright with lust met her own. One more date and I’m a goner. He opened the door and let her go first.
“Thank you for the dinner.” He shut her car door.
She rolled down her window, but before she could speak, he was kissing her again, his hand cupping her cheek. Then, there was nothing but cool air.“Call me when you get home. So I’ll know you arrived safely.”
She nodded and shifted into reverse. Driving down the lonely road home, thoughts tumbled through her mind. Disorganized, jumbled, sensuous, hormonal ideas flashed before her. Jo had always been buttoned up. She had learned by the time she was eight to keep her room in order and her school projects as well.
Organization is the backbone of success, she’d told herself a thousand times. But now, she was a muddled, unorganized mess, a mass of feelings that ran the gamut from happy to terrified. It was as if she had tried to put her foot in a shoe that was the wrong size. This manner of being wasn’t the Josephine Parker she knew. This was a primitive animal that wanted to give in to lust, no matter what the cost.
But the sight, the taste, the feel, and the scent of the man were beyond tempting, mesmerizing her, seducing her. His confidence, his slow kiss, promised a bedroom experience like none she’d ever had before. And she wanted it. She wanted him. She wanted to give herself to him, all night long, to taste and be tasted by, to reach ecstasy with, and to make love to until sunrise.
This new feeling shook her to her roots. A part of her broke through the controlled, distant, untrusting, business-like Josephine Parker and became the lusty, sensuous Jo Parker who had to have this man—damn the consequences. It scared the crap out of her.

Spotlight: Crashed by Sherilee Gray

Crashedby Sherilee Gray

About the Book:  She swore never to trust him again...

Fiery mechanic Alexandra Franco should have known better. Years ago, her best friends' older brother took her virginity and broke her heart-or rather, doused it with gasoline, lit a match, and then walked away. And Alex definitely should not have indulged in another hot night with him after the fact. He's not the same boy she fell for, and she sure as hell doesn't want anything to do with the wealthy, ruthless man he's become.

Walking away from Alex was the biggest mistake of Deacon West's life. She belongs with him, and if getting her back means playing dirty, so be it. If she'll grant him a three-month, no-strings affair, he won't sell the building Alex and his sisters use for their auto repair business. Hell, he'll even sign it over to them. But will Alex ever entrust her heart to him again, or are they destined to crash and burn?

About Sherilee Gray
Sherilee’s always had a big (some may say warped) imagination, and as a kid scared herself conjuring up horror stories full of ghosts and other terrifying creatures. As she got older the stories changed quite a bit, but they were always there. Still, she never dreamed of actually writing down any of those wonderful imaginary people or places. Not until many years later when her sister introduced her to the wondrous world of romance novels, and her very large book collection.

She’s pleased to say, she still has the big imagination and monsters in her stories… only now they’re chasing their happily ever after.

Sherilee Gray is a kiwi girl and lives in beautiful NZ with her extremely supportive husband and their two children. When not writing or fueling her voracious book addiction, she can be found dreaming of far off places with a mug of tea in one hand and a bar of Cadburys Rocky Road chocolate in the other.

Excerpt:
In their teens, the local boys had dubbed Alex and Deacon’s sisters the Axle Alley Vipers. All three were beautiful, tough in their own way, and if you tried to get too close, tried to touch, they would take a bite out of you.Jesus. Nothing had changed. When he got to the parking garage below his building, he saw Martin had done his job. Deacon’s car was parked behind Alex’s metallic-purple Viper, caging her in. Her choice of car said more than he thought she realized. Playing up to that moniker, to what it meant, wasjust another way to keep everyone at a distance, to protect herself. She stood against the driver’s door, arms crossed, more pissed than he’d ever seen her. Her long, shiny brown hair was pulled up in a messy bun that was sexy as hell on her, and those dark, exotic eyes had landed and stayed on him as soon as the elevator doors had opened and he’d stepped out.His cock twitched under that intense stare. He allowed his gaze to travel over her. Did she have any idea how stunning she was? The woman could wear a potato sack and still make his dick hard. The intricate rose tattoo decorating the upper half of her right arm drew his eye. It covered a jagged scar you could only see under a certain light, and it moved as she shoved her hands in her pockets, flexing her finely honed bicep. “This your doing?” she asked. He kept on walking toward her. She tensed as he came closer, but he didn’t stop until he was close enough to smell her vanilla scent, hear her subtle exhale as he leaned in. “You were in my parking spot.”Fire flashed in her eyes. “Bullshit. What about the other ten free spots?”He shrugged. “I like this one.”She blew out a frustrated breath. “If you’re so damned attached to this one, let me out and you can have it back.”He reached out, ran the tip of his finger along that scar. It curved around a rose petal, then joined a thorny stem. He felt her tremble. Jesus, he loved that, loved how easily he affected her. “Let’s stop playing games. This isn’t about a parking spot, and you know it.”“I said no.” Her voice shook and her breathing quickened.
