Airbnb Introduces ‘Icons’ Experiences with X-MEN Mansion and Floating UP House
Airbnb has been putting together some fun fannish experiences for a long time. But now this category of stay has a brand new category behind it, Airbrb “Icons” experiences. Airbnb shares that the new Icons category includes “extraordinary experiences hosted by the greatest names in music, film, television, art, sports, and more. Icons let you step into worlds you’ve only ever dreamed of.” Hopefully, this means that not only will we see a greater depth and breadth of fun fandom Airbnb houses, but also that more people get to stay in them. Airbnb is kicking off its Icons category with 11 special icons that include X-Men ’97‘s X-Mansion (yes, in 2D) and a balloon-filled Up house that actually floats. Let’s take a deeper look at some of the upcoming Airbnb Icons that are particularly nerdy.
Airbnb Icons Rental Lets You Stay in X-Men ’97’s X-Mansion
X-Men ’97 has captured the hearts of fans, new and old, with its perfect storm of wonderful nostalgia and excellent storytelling. Now, Airbnb Icons invites you to join the team and stay in the X-Mansion from X-Men ’97. We know it’s this specific X-Mansion because everything is 2D.
Airbnb shares about this iconic X-Men stay:
Live like the X-Men as you stay in a 2D animated re-creation of Marvel Animation’s X-Mansion in Westchester, New York. You’ll discover your mutant abilities and even train in the Danger Room.

Float Into the Sky with Airbnb Icons’ Up House
Who doesn’t want to float into the sky like the characters on Up do in their balloon-laden house? Well, as long as it’s safe, we do. Hopefully, this Airbnb Up house won’t hit any inclement weather because it does seem kind of cool, and, undoubtedly, it will make you tear up just a little bit.

Airbnb shares of this Icons experience:
Sleep inside one of Disney and Pixar’s most iconic homes—and yes, it floats. You’ll explore Carl’s world in this detailed re-creation of his home, complete with more than 8,000 balloons, and located in the scenic red rocks of Abiquiu, New Mexico.
8,000 is A LOT of balloons.

Stay Overnight at Inside Out 2‘s Headquarters
The final nerdy outing from Airbnb offers you a chance to get a little emotional with Inside Out 2. Like Riley’s emotions, you can find yourself in Headquarters. Just don’t bring any negative feelings with you, please!
Airbnb shares:
When Can You Stay in the Airbnb Icons Inside Out 2 Experience? In anticipation of the June 14 release of Disney and Pixar’s new movie Inside Out 2, you’re invited to an overnight stay at Headquarters, the control center of Riley’s emotions. Your host, Joy, will welcome you into her vibrant world to witness the emotions in action and help keep things in balance.
There’s no specific timing mentioned for the Airbnb Inside Out 2 experience. However, Airbnb does stipulate that it will happen “in anticipation” of June 14.
Airbnb’s Icons Experiences Promise More Fantastical Adventures to ComeThis sounds like just the beginning of the Airbnb Icons fun. In addition to the three Airbnb Icons experiences detailed above, the first set of Icons releases also includes a night at the Ferrari Museum, an evening with Kevin Hart, a stay at the Musée d’Orsay, a session with Doja Cat, a stay in Prince’s Purple Rain house, a gaming experience with Khaby Lame, a tour bus experience with Feid, and an evening with Bollywood star, Janhvi Kapoor.
Brian Chesky, Airbnb co-founder and CEO shares of these Icons experiences, “Icons take you inside worlds that only existed in your imagination—until now. As life becomes increasingly digital, we’re focused on bringing more magic into the real world. With Icons, we’ve created the most extraordinary experiences on Earth.”
Hopefully our favorite movies and TV shows will get the Airbnb Icons treatment. Personally, we hope for a stay in Fallout‘s vaults sometime soon.

Could This Iconic Marvel Hero’s X-MEN ’97 Cameo Spell a Spin-Off?
It was just a wordless cameo in a stacked episode, but fans of ‘90s Marvel animation jumped for joy at episode eight of X-Men ’97, “Tolerance is Extinction Part I.” During a crucial moment, when Magneto uses his vast powers to power down all electrical devices across the globe, we cut to several cameos of Marvel characters. One of them is our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. It’s not just any Spidey spinning his webs, though. As fans of ‘90s Marvel cartoons know, the Spider-Man in the X-Men cartoon is the same one from the Spider-Man: The Animated Series, that ran concurrently on Fox Kids at the time.

Spider-Man appeared only as a hand shooting web fluid in X-Men: The Animated Series. The X-Men: TAS producers snuck the cameo in, as technically they didn’t have the rights to use Spidey. However, the full X-Men team from the ‘90s cartoon appeared in the two-part Spider-Man episodes “The Mutant Agenda” and “The Mutant’s Revenge” in 1995. All the X-Men: TAS voice actors returned, and their designs were identical to those on their own show. This was the first connection between two Marvel ‘90s animated shows, showing that at least the X-Men and Spider-Man existed within the same continuity. As for the other Marvel cartoons from the ’90s, that’s up for debate.

So what does this mean for ‘90s Spidey in X-Men ’97? Former showrunner Beau Demayo confirmed on social media that this version of Spider-Man is the same version originally voiced by Christopher Daniel Barnes in the classic show. As fans may recall, Spider-Man: TAS ended on a bit of a cliffhanger. After a long and convoluted adventure through the Spider-Verse, Madame Web appears to Peter Parker. She takes him to find Mary Jane Watson, who found herself lost in the multiverse earlier in the season. Viewers never found out if Peter and MJ actually reunited, much less if their planned nuptials ever occurred. It’s a bit of a giant question mark.

If Spider-Man appears on X-Men ’97 in a larger role (hopefully voiced by Christopher Daniel Barnes again), they could use this appearance to resolve some of those lingering questions. Not only that, but a bigger Spider-Man appearance could be a “backdoor pilot” to set up a spin-off show. Spider-Man: The Animated Series aired its final episode on January 31, 1998. So could Marvel Animation be planning something bigger for the ‘90s version of Peter Parker? There’s certainly cause to think it’s at least possible.

— Disney News (@news_disne27388) April 26, 2024
While Sony fully owns the rights to Spider-Man in film, Marvel Studios retains the rights to TV animation. That’s why the upcoming Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man animated series is coming to Disney+ soon. This is the series formerly known as Spider-Man: Freshman Year. If anything, the upcoming new Spidey cartoon is probably the biggest obstacle in getting a full Spider-Man ’98 series. Would Marvel Animation have two competing Spider-Man cartoons concurrently? However, the massive success of X-Men ’97 may cause them to rethink those plans. Spider-Man was just as beloved a cartoon hero for ‘90s kids as the X-Men.
Could Peter Parker Teach at Xavier’s School in Future X-Men ’97 Seasons?
Even if we don’t get a Spider-Man ’98 series, there is room for a continuation of that version of Peter Parker in future X-Men ’97 seasons. After all, in the comics, Peter Parker became a teacher at Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters for a time (then renamed the Jean Grey School), in the series Spider-Man and the X-Men. Why not make the Christopher Daniel Barnes version of Spidey part of the supporting cast of X-Men ’97? Peter could teach several new mutants, teens discovering their powers during puberty as he once did.

Spider-Man is technically not a mutant of course. He got his powers as a teenager during a lab accident, as everyone knows. None of that stopped the comic book creators from giving him a teaching position at the school though. Of course, we’d love for him to have a revival series like X-Men ’97. But if the other Spidey series on Disney+ makes that unlikely, we’ll take option B. Whatever happens, Spidey is officially part of the X-Men ’97 world now. We highly doubt it’s the last time he swings through the New York skyline in this series.

X-MEN ’97’s Lessons for the MCU
X-Men fans have been eating good thanks to the stellar revival of the animated series on Disney+. But with the massive success on the small screen, the mutants’ live action arrival in the MCU has a lot to live up to. Thankfully Kyle Anderson is here to break down some key lessons from X-Men ’97 that Marvel will hopefully carry over on today’s video!

AHSOKA’s Ivanna Sakhno Joins M3GAN 2.0
If there’s one thing horror fans love, it’s an icon they can root for. And root they have! Early and often. One of the first theatrical releases of 2023, Blumhouse and Atomic Monster’s M3GAN has made a whole heap of cash and its titular robotic moppet has marched into the hearts of fans everywhere. Kind of like a mix of the Terminator and Chucky in the guise of a little girl. Except M3GAN is way saltier and likable. (She did nothing wrong!) And those myriad successes have allowed the studios to announce a sequel. M3GAN 2.0 will now drop on May 16, 2025, slightly pushed out from its initially planned January release. And that means plenty of time to master that dance, friends.

We originally learned the info from The Wrap who report the whole band will be back together for M3GAN 2.0. Stars Allison Williams and Violet McGraw will return, with the original film’s screenwriter Akela Cooper penning the script. Williams will produce with Atomic Monster founder James Wan and Blumhouse founder/CEO Jason Blum. The movie has made over $91 million in its two weeks of release against a $12 million budget. That is a hefty win for both Blumhouse and Atomic Monster. Cooper and Wan co-wrote Wan’s 2021 nutso horror flick Malignant, so we hope this means we’ll get a sequel where M3GAN has to fight Gabriel, the back-of-the-head evil of twin. We can dream, can’t we?

Additionally, Deadline recently reported that Ahsoka‘s Ivanna Sakhno will play a “major role” in M3GAN 2.0. What that role entails exactly remains under wraps for now.
The first film followed Cady (McGraw) having to stay with her aunt Gemma (Williams) following the tragic death of her parents. Luckily for the young, grieving girl, her aunt is a robotics genius who has made a life-size robot toy prototype who learns from a child its paired with. That robot is, of course, M3GAN, who takes it upon herself to protect Cady, physically and violently if necessary. And it’s necessary a lot of times.
We look forward to M3GAN (2.0) and her new murderous exploits.

Spirit Halloween’s New Animatronics for 2024 Are Delightfully Disturbing
We are officially halfway to Halloween, which means it’s time to start planning your spooky season decorations in earnest. So with that in mind, the folks at Spirit Halloween have revealed two of this year’s terrifying new animatronic offerings, set to freak out every kid in your neighborhood coming around looking for candy. (You’ll probably freak yourself out a little too). The first is their latest nightmare-inducing clown, named Clowning Around, and Rick Ratman, who is sure to disturb anyone with a serious case of musophobia. (That’s fear of rodents, don’t ya know). You can check out images of the new animatronics below, along with official descriptions for each one:
Rick Ratman (Animatronic) Click To View Gallery

“Better hope your guests don’t have a rat phobia once you put Rick Ratman on display! Standing at 6.3 feet tall, this rat-infested zombie animatronic will give your guests the total creeps once he comes to life with his side-to-side moving torso. Be warned, stand too close and you could become a part of the little critters’ next snack this Halloween.”
Clowning Around (Animatronic) Click To View Gallery

“No one thought calling the AAA Big Top Babysitting Service would end like this. Next time, if the kids ever will let you leave their sight again, make sure you tell them not to send a 7 FT tall diabolical clown even if he is just trying to make some extra money with a new side hustle. Either way, we bet your kids will have a whole new attitude about the circus! This Clowning Around Animatronic takes play time to a whole new level with his side to side turning waist and head, along with his light up eyes and moving mouth. Scream in terror as you watch him flail his victims up and down in each arm!”

More details can be found on the official Spirit Halloween site for each animatronic. The Rick Ratman animatronic is priced at $199.00. You can pre-order him by clicking here. Clowning Around is a little more, costing $319.99. You can pre-order this one by heading to this link.

THE BOYS Season 3 Finale Gave Butcher a Grim Diagnosis
When The Boys first introduced Compound V24, a.k.a. Temp V, in season three, I knew it wasn’t going to go well. Butcher and Hughie shot up a few doses of it in their relentless attempt to kill Homelander. And, well, they made a big mess in the process. Not only did they free Soldier Boy, who killed hella people, but Homelander is still alive and has Ryan under his wing. And, to cap it all off, Butcher is apparently dying from Compound V24 after taking one too many doses in The Boys season three. Let’s talk about what we learn in the finale, Butcher’s brief appearance in Gen V, and what the future could hold for Butcher with his grim diagnosis.

In the finale, Butcher keeps Hughie from taking another dose of Compound V24. We already know Butcher’s guilt over what happened to his brother so it’s understandable that he’d hide the truth about the drug from his comrade. Starlight fills Hughie in, who is understandably terrified. Butcher uses his powers during the big Vought Tower fight and ends up having to subdue Soldier Boy after he tries to kill Ryan, a move that he might live to regret. That is, if he sees it at all.
At the end of the episode, Butcher is in the hospital. A doctor is talking to him but he’s not listening so we don’t get a clear diagnosis. There is a treatment—likely involving draining fluid—but it will possibly impact his quality of life without extending it. Butcher bluntly asks how long he has to live and the answer is a grim 12-18 months, if he’s lucky. He lights up a cigarette and tells the doctor to f*ck off. Seems like he’s full of regret about a lot of things.

Our poor, dying Billy Butcher will be in The Boys season four. We saw him in a brief post-credits scene at the end of Gen V‘s first season, which takes place only months after The Boys season three. He looks relatively normal as he scours the remains of The Woods. He does pop up in the final moments of The Boys last season as well. He comes to their headquarters to say they need to get rid of Neuman, after all. Butcher still needs to accomplish a few things before he possibly dies, including killing Homelander, saving Ryan from becoming the next evil supe, and bringing down Vought.
It remains to be seen how his health will deteriorate from Compound V24’s deadly effects. The Boys season four will take place shortly after Gen V‘s finale events so that means he still has some time left to figure things out. In fact, he might just throw all caution to the wind and take more of it. And it’s also not clear if any of his comrades know that he has less than two years to live. That is, if we don’t get some kind of cure for Compound V24.
Next season probably won’t be the final one but it could all end with Butcher dying from Compound V24. He’s a total jerk most of the time but he is the driving force of the Boys. We will see what happens.

A new video game from Marvel is bringing to life some of our favorite heroes in a whole new way. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra takes us back to, you guessed it, 1943. There “an original story that takes players on a WWII-era adventure with an ensemble of four heroes playable at different points in the game.” These four heroes are “a young Steve Rogers, AKA Captain America; Azzuri, T’Challa’s grandfather and the WWII-era Black Panther; Gabriel Jones, a U.S. soldier and member of the Howling Commandos; and Nanali, a Wakandan spy embedded in Occupied Paris.”

Captain America and Black Panther are two of our favorite Marvel heroes, and we can’t wait to see them come to life in this new game. The results will undoubtedly be epic.
The game comes from Skydance New Media, helmed by award-winning writer and director Amy Hennig, and Marvel Games.

A Big Threat Emerges in Latest GODZILLA x KONG: THE NEW EMPIRE TrailerMichael Rosenbaum Is Still Thinking About That Smallville Animated Series

The Smallville animated series isn’t dead yet. Michael Rosenbaum recently revealed the following to Screen Rant:
All I could share is that it’s a great idea. We have Al and Miles, the creators of Smallville backing us up. When it’s the right time, we’d like to go and do this; pitch to Warner Bros. It has to be the right time, and right now is not the right time. We had the strike, we had a change of executives at DC — one being one of my best friends in the world, James Gunn. When the time’s right, I think it’s something that’s a no brainer, unless they have other ideas. We’d like to do it — the whole cast would like to do it. They would voice their own character from the show, and we have a concept of what the show is.
Fingers crossed!

X-MEN in the Style of Classic Disney Animation Makes Marvel’s Mutants Magical
Thanks to X-Men ’97, we now know Marvel Mutants and Disney go together like peanut butter and jelly. Of course, the animation style of X-Men ’97 doesn’t evoke the classic “Disney look.” It’s meant to be a blend of the ’90s animated series with a dash of anime. But what if the X-Men were actually animated in the iconic Disney 2D style? Particularly the style from classic ’90s films like Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin? Well, now we have a good idea of what that would actually look like and it’s fabulous.

Comic book artist Mark Brooks, whose detailed work you’ve seen on comics like Spider-Man, Star Wars, and many more has reconfigured the classic X-Men characters in the Disney house style, and they’re incredible. Over the past month, he’s been dropping new Disney X-Men characters via social media. Some characters are super famous, some more obscure (Lookin’ at you, Strong Guy). Yet all perfectly capture that classic Disney feel. Here’s a sampling of Mark Brooks’ Disney-style X-Men characters so far:
Storm commands the weather, but in this image, Ororo Munroe looks like she could command a song as one of the Muses from Hercules.
It’s Wolverine and Deadpool’s year, so it makes sense these two would share an image together.
Kitty Pryde is serving us some Belle from Beauty and the Beast energy, and her pet dragon Lockheed looks like the Walt Disney World EPCOT mascot Figment.
The only un-Disney thing about this Gambit is that Remy is smoking. We appreciate that Brooks gave Gambit his costume and his crop top. And where there’s Gambit, Rogue can’t be far behind, sugah.
I think I ran afoul of the algorithm so let's try this again.

There are also plenty of villains, starting with the X-Men’s biggest nemesis Magneto. He looks less homicidal and more just grumpy in his Disney form.
Mystique can take many shapes, but looking like a Disney villain may be her coolest transformation.
Mister Sinister, however, is giving us all the dramatic Jafar from Aladdin vibes.
Jean Grey has long been the “princess” of the X-Mansion, so it’s only fitting she’s giving such a classic Disney princess vibe. Her clone the Goblin Queen on the other hand? She feels as if she could give Maleficent a run for her money in the “fashionably evil” department.
This version of X-Men field leader Cyclops has all the Milo from Atlantis: The Lost Empire vibes you could want.
Emma Frost is the White Queen of the Hellfire Club, and she’s also giving a classic evil Disney villain in this one. She might send a hunter to bring back Jean Grey’s heart in a box as if she were Snow White.
Mark Brooks’ Disney-style X-Men series has over 25 characters so far, with more on the way. We can’t wait to see what a Disney-style Apocalypse looks like, or even Mojo. Our hope is that Mark Brooks’ series doesn’t wrap up before we get Iceman, Angel, Bishop, Psylocke, and oh, about a half dozen others. We look forward to every single one of these Disney-fied mutants.

Chris Hemsworth Feels He Owes Fans THOR 5 After LOVE AND THUNDER Miss
There’s been a lot of chatter about the state of the MCU lately. And with that, as ever, murmurs about bringing back the original Avengers, the heroes that made the franchise so popular to begin with, have risen to the surface. Of course, the best-positioned OG Avenger to return to the MCU is Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. After all, technically, Thor hasn’t left the MCU at all. In Thor: Love and Thunder, a.k.a. Thor 4, Thor even started a whole new storyline with his adopted daughter. And, of course, there’s the question of coming full circle to let Thor and Loki finally reunite and see the sun shine on them once more. But one person who’s unlikely to be involved should Thor 5 become an MCU reality is Taika Waititi.
In recent interviews, Taika Waititi shared that he doesn’t see Thor 5 as a current possibility for him, given everything he has on his plate. But he did, reportedly reveal that Chris Hemsworth was in talks with Marvel for another Thor movie, something Hemsworth also seemed to indicate he’d be at least interested in. Here’s what Waititi and Hemsworth shared.

Speaking to Business Insider about Thor 5 and rumors of its development, Waititi offered, “I wouldn’t know if that’s accurate…I know that I won’t be involved. I’m going to concentrate on these other films that I’ve signed on for… So that’s six, seven years gone. I’d imagine another Thor would be a lot sooner than that. But I love Marvel, I love working with them. I love Chris [Hemsworth].”
Additionally, according to Inverse, “Waititi said that while he heard star Chris Hemsworth and Marvel are in talks about making a fifth Thor movie, Waititi ‘needed a break from that.’” That’s the first anyone has spoken concretely of Hemsworth returning for a Thor 5, so we’ll be interested to see how if we receive any more news on that front.
Meanwhile, Chris Hemsworth himself recently noted, per Vanity Fair, that “he thinks he owes the audience another Thor after what felt like a whiff with Thor: Love and Thunder.” He went on to share share that he couldn’t forgive himself for the turn in the movie, noting, “I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself…I didn’t stick the landing.” But whether any of this is indicative of Thor 5 remains to be seen.

And while it seems unlikely Waititi would return for Thor 5, don’t count him out for another MCU movie. You never know if Thor 6 will become a reality. He notes to Business Insider about the idea of Marvel hiring another director for the fifth Thor movie, “I would never feel like they are cheating on me… We’re in an open relationship, and it’s like if they want to see other people, I’m happy for that. I’d still get back into bed with them one day.” Fair enough. For the moment, regardless of Waititi’s schedule, there’s no Thor 5 slated to happen. However should it happen without Waititi at the helm, we would feel curious to see where exactly it would go.
In addition to discussing Thor, Waititi also recently shared a little update about his Star Wars movie, noting that “It’s still marinating. I’ve been writing it.” Waititi also offered to ET, “At the moment, I’m still developing something with them. Like me, they have a lot of projects going on. I think they’re gonna push it until I finish these other projects. I’ve got about four other scripts that I’m trying to finish. My thing is, I want to take my time with that and get it right. I don’t want to rush this movie.”

FALLOUT Season 2 Promises Live-Action Deathclaws
Video game fans have been safely enjoying the excitement/terror of a post-nuclear wasteland since 1997. That’s when Fallout and its ’50s-era Cold War aesthetic first came to stores. Since then countless sequels and spinoffs have turned the game into one of genre’s most successful franchises. Now Fallout is ready to conquer another medium entirely. It’s getting its very own show from Amazon. What kind of story can gamers expect from the Prime Video Fallout adaptation? Who’s behind it, and who will star in it? And when will we get a chance to see it? (And if you’re looking for the video of Walton Goggins’ transformation in The Ghoul, you can check it out here.)

One thing fans were particularly excited about seeing in the Fallout series were live-action versions of Fallout‘s many unique creatures. One especially important creature from Fallout‘s world is the Deathclaw. But the iconic Deathclaws were noticeably absent in season one of Fallout. The show did make sure to tease they exist though. Here’s what showrunners Graham Wagner and Geneve Robertson-Dworet shared with The Wrap about Deathclaws and their place in the Fallout series. Wagner and Robertson-Dworet noted:
We wanted to get Deathclaws, but we didn’t want to just throw it away. It’s such a monumental piece. We want to save some something for Season 2 to be able to do it properly, not just added on to the massive world building we had to do already in Season 1. So Season 2, we’re very excited to finally tackle one of the most iconic elements of the games.
There’s all the greatest hit things, like the most obvious things that people who aren’t even gamers know about ‘Fallout,’ like Nuka, deathclaws, whatever. There are these things that are just so prevalent and we were tempted to do all of them in Season 1.
But on the other hand, we didn’t want to see the show to seem like it was written by people who just like spent 10 seconds reading the Wikipedia page for ‘Fallout’ and didn’t bother to like bring in some deeper cuts. So it was important to us to also bring deeper cuts into Season 1. Hopefully, that won’t piss off fans because we didn’t get to every last thing, but hopefully, they will bear with us and pray with us that we get a second season to bring these things to the screen.”
Hopefully we’ll get Deathclaws and more, in Fallout season two.
The Fallout series has now released on Prime Video. Here you can find a non-spoilery rundown of everything there is to know about Prime Video’s Fallout series.
Title
Prime Video’s adaptation will share the same name as the original game, Fallout.
Fallout‘s PlotWe officially have our first full look at the Fallout series. Prime Video released the first trailer for the show and it teases a dangerous wasteland of a world. But it’s clear the show understands its dark humor as well.

Prime Video has shared an official Fallout series synopsis, setting us up for what’s to come. It reveals, “Based on one of the greatest video game series of all time, Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. 200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind — and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird, and highly violent universe waiting for them.“

Additionally, we know that the series is “set in the future post-apocalyptic Los Angeles.” It will also tell an “original story based on Fallout that will be part of the canon of the games.”

The first image from the show featured a glimpse at the franchise’s all-new Vault 33. And more recent looks have revealed Fallout‘s main characters including Walton Goggins’ The Ghoul, Ella Purnell’s Lucy, Aaron Moten’s Maximus, and Kyle MacLachlan’s Overseer Hank.

There will also be an adorable animal involved. In the Fallout games, a dog called Dogmeat exists as an NPC companion character that accompanies players on their adventures. According to a blog post from Amazon, the live-action Fallout series’ cute canine isn’t called Dogmeat, but instead is named CX404. But this pup, too, will serve “as a companion navigating the post-apocalyptic world.”
