James Cameron Is Working on a Top Secret TERMINATOR Project
The world of Terminator continues to expand. Terminator Zero is hitting Netflix later this month with its own animated take. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that we are totally done with those wonderfully bombastic big budget box office hits. In a recent (and very interesting) interview with The Hollywood Reporter, James Cameron revealed that he’s working on a currently “classified” Terminator project. What are the details? He’s certainly not telling anyone.

James Cameron said he was curious about Terminator Zero’s take on a world that he built decades ago. The famed director let it slip that he was busy with his own project and, after further inquiry, he gave a quick answer about it. “It’s totally classified,” said Cameron. “I don’t want to have to send out a potentially dangerous robotic agent if you were to talk about it, even retroactively.” Yeahhh, we don’t want any information until he’s ready to dish it out.
The last Terminator film was 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate, which brought back Linda Hamilton’s Sarah Connor and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s T-800. Sarah did survive that film so perhaps she will come back for another round.

Tom Cruise Dove Into the Paris Olympics Closing Ceremony From the Arena’s Roof
Paris just put on one of the best Olympic games in history. The 2024 Summer Olympics might have even been the best ever. What the City of Lights accomplished will certainly be a tough act for Los Angeles to follow in four years when it welcomes the world’s best athletes to Southern California. Can L.A. live up to its predecessor? It’s already off to a good start. During Paris’ Closing Ceremony the City of Angels sent Hollywood’s biggest star to pick up the Olympic flag. And Tom Cruise did it the only way Tom Cruise could. He repelled in from the massive arena’s roof before leaving on a motorcycle.
IT'S A BIRD. IT'S A PLANE. IT'S TOM CRUISE! 🤯#ParisOlympics | #ClosingCeremony pic.twitter.com/5v4j8pOwBF
— NBC Olympics & Paralympics (@NBCOlympics) August 11, 2024
Not content to only risk his life making Mission: Impossible movies, Tom Cruise climbed to the very top of the Stade de France as Paris bid goodbye to the world. There he took a looooong, solo rope ride down to the ground. After making his way through a throng of very excited athletes, Cruise then climbed on the stage to take the official Olympic flag on behalf of Los Angeles.
For literally anyone else that would be way more than enough. But this is Ethan Hunt we’re talking about, so obviously it wasn’t. Instead of simply walking out, Cruise got on a motorcycle and zipped out of the arena. Is he—somehow—currently driving that motorcycle across the Atlantic Ocean so he can bring the flag to L.A.? It seems impossible, but with him we’re not ruling anything out.

We also expect/hope/demand he be a part of the 2028 Summer Olympics opening ceremony. We’ll be massively disappointed if he doesn’t pay off this moment in four years. Los Angeles has the toughest possible act to follow when it hosts the world. But if there’s anyone who can deliver on years worth of hype it’s Tom Cruise.

Theo James Faces a Killer Toy in THE MONKEY Teaser Trailer
Fresh off the recent success of Longlegs, Ozgood “Oz” Perkins is continuing to deliver horror films with The Monkey. It has all the names attached that will perk up fans’ ears, including Stephen King and James Wan. The first teaser trailer for The Monkey is delightfully short and vague with a creepy monkey drumming and Theo James face covered in blood. Who knew that the carnival song “I Do Like to Be Beside the Seaside” could be so creepy? Maybe it is a location hint. Either way, we love to see more from Oz.
The Monkey is based on the 1980 short story of the same name by Stephen King. Let’s get into the storyline of The Monkey a bit to make the trailer a little less mysterious. The story follows twin brothers Hal and Bill (Theo James), who find a vintage toy monkey in their attic. Soon, a string of deaths happen around them. The brothers get rid of the monkey, grow up, and go their separate ways. Years later, deaths begin to spring up again and the brothers have to come together to rid the world of this terrible toy.
What Is the Release Date for Oz Perkins and Theo James The Monkey Movie?
I cannot wait to see Theo James crush this role. And, against my better judgment, I also want a drumming monkey. The Monkey will hit theaters on February 21, 2025.

Disney Teases FROZEN 4 as FROZEN 3 Gets 2027 Release Window
Disney isn’t so much planning on heading into the unknown. Instead, news we already kind of suspected to be true was all but confirmed at the company’s 2024 edition of D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. Nerdist was excited to attend the event and report back on all its major news. As part of many other D23 reveals and announcements, Disney highlighted Frozen 3… and Frozen 4. Of course, Disney’s Frozen was a huge hit for the studio, taking home $2.76 billion at the global box office and a couple of Oscar wins. And Frozen 2 was a rare sequel success, continuing the hype. Given those facts, it’s no surprise that Disney wants to expand the story of Anna and Elsa with Frozen 3 and Frozen 4.
Here’s what Frozen and Frozen 2 writer and co-director Jennifer Lee had to say about the upcoming chapters of the Frozen franchise.
Frozen 3 Gets a 2027 Release Date Window and First Concept Art
Before we get into Frozen 4, here’s what we learned about Frozen 3 at D23. Originally announced for 2026, Disney has now confirmed that Frozen 3 will release in 2027. No exact release date for Frozen 3 has yet been shared, but Jennifer Lee did reveal its first piece of concept art. Lee notes of the Frozen 3 concept art, “It captures the scene of Anna and Elsa…everyone at Disney animation is excited to be back in this world.”
In this first piece of Frozen 3 concept art from D23, you can see Anna, Elsa, and Olaf heading off on another adventure. This time, they seem called toward a mystical world drenched in golden light. It almost looks like they’re going to visit the clouds. Perhaps we’ll visit a fantastical realm set in the Aurora Borealis in Frozen 3. In the water, a menacing shadow is hot on their tale though. We don’t like the look of that. So far, there’s no sign of Kristoff in this Frozen 3 concept art, but we’re sure he’ll pop up sooner or later. We’re also glad to see more of the Nokk, Elsa’s beautiful elemental water horse from Frozen II.
Frozen 4 Is All But Confirmed at D23
But Frozen 3 isn’t the only thing Frozen fans can get excited about. Frozen 4 was also all but confirmed at D23. Although Disney didn’t outright say Frozen 4 was happening, it certainly heavily implied that there would be two more sequel movies in the franchise. And it’s not the first time. Let’s take a look at a timeline of Frozen 4 teases by major Disney figures.
November 16, 2023: Disney CEO Bob Iger Teases Frozen 4In November 2023, we first heard talk of a Frozen 4. Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed on Good Morning America, “Frozen 3 is in the works, and there might be a Frozen 4 in the works too… But I don’t have much to say about those films right now. [Director] Jenn Lee, who created the original Frozen and Frozen 2, is hard at work with her team at Disney animation on not one but actually two stories.” Iger flat-out introduces the idea of Frozen 4 here. It’s the only time someone from Disney says Frozen 4 outright, but only the first of several Frozen 4 teases.
November 23, 2023: Jennifer Lee, Chief Creative Officer of Disney Animation and Frozen Creator, Teases Frozen 3 and BeyondShortly after Bob Iger’s first Frozen 4 hint, Jennifer Lee echoed his sentiments while speaking about Frozen 3. When asked what she could tell fans about Frozen 3, Lee noted, “Only what we have already shared, which is the team is hard at work, we are deeply excited about the story we are shaping together, and it’s so epic it may not fit into just one film.” This Disney tease once again intimated that the contents were so epic that Frozen‘s next story might need Frozen 3 and Frozen 4 to do them justice.
August 9, 2024: Jennifer Lee Once Again Hints Frozen 4 Is Basically ConfirmedAlthough Lee again did not outrigh confirm Frozen 4 at D23 2024, she once again stressed the story of Frozen 3 was so big that it would require more than one movie to tell it. Lee said at D23, “There were a lot of questions coming out of Frozen 2. It will take two films to answer them.” That sounds like a pretty intent confirmation of Frozen 3 and Frozen 4 to us. Although we don’t necessarily think Frozen 2 left us with that many questions, it seems like Disney feels it can sell fans on at least two more Frozen movies.
In the meantime, we’ll wait for a Frozen 3 release date and official confirmation on Frozen 4.

MUFASA: THE LION KING Trailer Tells the Tale of Mufasa and Scar as Brothers
Mufasa: The Lion King is kind of a blend of a prequel and an extension of The Lion King‘s sequel, The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride. The star of The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride is after all, Kiara, who will feature in this Mufasa-oriented movie as well. Rafiki will tell the lion cub all about her grandfather and his grand adventures. We’ll see Mufasa’s story in flashbacks, and also Scar’s. The relationship between the lion brothers is key in this film. The full trailer for Mufasa: The Lion King has us ready and excited to return to Pride Rock. You can watch it in full below:
In addition to this new trailer, the synopsis for Mufasa: The Lion King fills in more of the blanks about the upcoming prequel story. It shares:
Mufasa: The Lion King enlists Rafiki to relay the legend of Mufasa to young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa lending their signature schtick. Told in flashbacks, the story introduces Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka—the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny—their bonds will be tested as they work together to evade a threatening and deadly foe.

Bringing this movie to life are Aaron Pierre as Mufasa, Donald Glover as Simba, John Kani as Rafiki, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon, Blue Ivy Carter as Kiara, and Beyoncé in her epic return as Queen Nala. There are also plenty of other stars involved in the Mufasa movie as well and that includes Mads Mikkelsen’s fierce lion Kiros.

Mufasa: The Lion King will release in theaters on December 20.

FREAKY FRIDAY 2’s Title Is FREAKIER FRIDAY
Freaky Friday 2 is officially happening, with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan back for more body-swapping fun. The highly anticipated sequel movie certainly seemed like it was gaining traction, but there’s nothing we love more than an official announcement. In addition to Curtis and Lohan, Freaky Friday 2 has gained some excellent new cast members, and it has a slated release window of 2025. That’s some freakishly exciting stuff. We also have the official title. At D23, we learned Freaky Friday 2 will be called Freakier Friday.

In a release, Disney describes the plot of Freaky Friday 2 as follows:
A sequel to the beloved 2003 film with a multigenerational twist, the film picks up years after Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) endured an identity crisis. Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice.
More body swapping, ahoy!

Of course, Curtis and Lohan reprise their roles as Tess and Anna Coleman. But other Freaky Friday actors will be back for more fun. These returning original cast members include Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao. But Freaky Friday 2 will also see some new faces, including Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto, and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. We are very excited to hear Manny Jacinto is Freaky Friday 2 official, especially after his excellent recent turn on The Acolyte.
In addition to the above looks, we also have a glimpse at Chad Michael Murray’s return as Jake.
Finally, Freaky Friday 2 will be directed by Nisha Ganatra.
Freaky Friday 2‘s Release DateProduction on the Freaky Friday sequel began in June 2024. We should expect Freaky Friday 2 to release in theaters nationwide in 2025.
While we wait for Freaky Friday 2 to release, you can catch the original movie streaming on Disney+.

AGATHA ALL ALONG Reveals a Deliciously Witchy Musical Trailer
Get in witches, we’re going covening. It’s time to assemble the squad and make our way down the Witches’ Road. How will we survive without our powers? Well, the way witches always have. You can take a look at Agatha and her coven of new witchy friends in the trailer for Agatha All Along below.
Maiden, mother, crone. It feels like Agatha thinks she’s using the witches around her to get to the end of the road, and presumably her powers. But we’re pretty sure the road we’re actually going down in this Agatha All Along trailer is one that ends with a found family. We do love those.

In addition to the trailer, Marvel Studios revealed a synopsis for Agatha: All Along. It shares:
In Marvel Studios’ “Agatha All Along,” the infamous Agatha Harkness finds herself down and out of power after a suspicious goth Teen helps break her free from a distorted spell. Her interest is piqued when he begs her to take him on the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards a witch with what they’re missing. Together, Agatha and this mysterious Teen pull together a desperate coven, and set off down, down, down The Road…

STAR WARS: SKELETON CREW Trailer Shows a Kid’s Guide to the Galaxy
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, described by some as “Goonies in space,” has been in production for seemingly forever. But at D23, we finally got our first trailer for Skeleton Crew, which drops on Disney+ on December 3. It showcases Jude Law leading a crew of ragtag kids who steal a starship, The Onyx Cinder, and head to the stars in a post-Return of the Jedi galaxy. Jon Watts was on hand to show off the new Star Wars: Skeleton Crew trailer, which you can watch right here:
The trailer showed us something we never thought we’d see in the Star Wars franchise…the suburbs. This story, with Jude Law also likened to Amblin films, sees a group of school children who find a derelict Jedi Temple which leads them on a dangerous adventure. And Law? Yeah, he’s a Jedi. Did you have any doubt?
In addition to the trailer, here’s the official synopsis for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew from Lucasfilm:
Skeleton Crew follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home—and meeting unlikely allies and enemies—will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.

Jon Watts directs Skeleton Crew, with series co-creator Chris Ford on writing duties. Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau are the series producers, and the show takes place within The Mandalorian timeframe. Aside from Watts and Ford, other directors include David Lowery, the Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Lee Isaac Chung. Aside from Jude Law, the cast includes Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, and Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Tunde Adebimpe, and Kerry Condon.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will begin streaming on Disney+ December 3, 2024. Expect lots of phoning home to go on.

Pixar Announces TOY STORY 5 Will Pit Toys Against Screens
Just the incisive commentary we expect from the director of WALL-E. At D23 Expo 2024, Pixar Chief Creative Officer, Pete Docter, announced a fifth entry in the companies longest running franchise. Their first franchise, really. Toy Story 5 will be directed by Pixar Senior Creative Team member Andrew Stanton. Stanton, of course, directed Finding Nemo as well as the one about the robot. He says the movie will be about our hero toys taking on their biggest foe yet… screens.

In the 30 years since the first Toy Story debuted and ushered in the era of digital animation, the world has not only caught up to Pixar, it shot forward like a rocket to the moon. YouTube and mobile games have taken the place of figures and pull strings in a child’s heart. If you thought Woody was out of date in ’95, he’s a relic today. Smart of Pixar to take that story on.
This will be Stanton’s first film since 2016’s Finding Dory, and his first time helming a Toy Story movie. That alone has us jazzed. Expect Toy Story 5 in 2026.
Get excited for their next chapter as Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the gang all return for #ToyStory5, coming to theaters Summer 2026! #D23 pic.twitter.com/w5yrlbkpYP
