STAR WARS: SKELETON CREW Trailer Shows a Kid’s Guide to the Galaxy

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, described by some as “Goonies in space,” has been in production for seemingly forever. But at D23, we finally got our first trailer for Skeleton Crew, which drops on Disney+ on December 3. It showcases Jude Law leading a crew of ragtag kids who steal a starship, The Onyx Cinder, and head to the stars in a post-Return of the Jedi galaxy. Jon Watts was on hand to show off the new Star Wars: Skeleton Crew trailer, which you can watch right here:

The trailer showed us something we never thought we’d see in the Star Wars franchise…the suburbs. This story, with Jude Law also likened to Amblin films, sees a group of school children who find a derelict Jedi Temple which leads them on a dangerous adventure. And Law? Yeah, he’s a Jedi. Did you have any doubt?

In addition to the trailer, here’s the official synopsis for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew from Lucasfilm:

Skeleton Crew follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home—and meeting unlikely allies and enemies—will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.

Jon Watts directs Skeleton Crew, with series co-creator Chris Ford on writing duties. Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau are the series producers, and the show takes place within The Mandalorian timeframe. Aside from Watts and Ford, other directors include David Lowery, the Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Lee Isaac Chung. Aside from Jude Law, the cast includes Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, and Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Tunde Adebimpe, and Kerry Condon.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will begin streaming on Disney+ December 3, 2024. Expect lots of phoning home to go on.
