SEVERANCE Season 2’s Trailer Is FINALLY Here
Severance really rocked the TV landscape when it first premiered—latching onto salient themes in many people’s lives… especially that of the ever-terrifying work-life balance. But when was that again? Oh yeah, way back in 2022. Yes. Severance officially joins the ranks of series that have two-year gaps between seasons. But hey, Severance season two is finally becoming a reality, and we’re excited to see what this twisting and turning series has in store for us next. To give us our best look yet at what’s to come, Severance has released its official season two trailer.
Strap in and hit play; it’s time to immerse ourselves in Severance once again.
“What is it we actually do here?” Now, isn’t that the question, Mark S.? This Severance season two trailer certainly doesn’t bring us many answers, but it does give us the sense there are only more questions to come.
A release reminds us of Severence‘s premise, sharing, “In “Severance,” Mark Scout (Adam Scott) leads a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure, which surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. This daring experiment in “work-life balance” is called into question as Mark finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work… and of himself.“
We don’t get too much specific information on Severance season two, but we do learn that “In season two, Mark and his friends learn the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe.” A further path of woe… you say? We thought season one was basically as woeful as it gets. But we suppose season two of Severance just said, “Hold my balloons.”

Season two of Severance reunites its ensemble cast of stars, including Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, Emmy Award winner John Turturro, Christopher Walken, and Patricia Arquette. New series regular Sarah Bock also joins in the.
Severance season two will be ten episodes long and will premiere on Friday, January 17, 2025. It will have a weekly episodic release schedule and will air its season finale on March 21.
We hope there’s some light at the end of the cubicle maze, but we really can’t say for sure.

VENOM: THE LAST DANCE Is an Absurd, Entertaining Farewell to Symbrock
The Simpsons‘ iconic “MENDOOZZZZAAAAAA!!!” scene is an all-time classic pop culture moment because it’s played totally seriously despite being intentionally funny. It’s a hilarious, over-the-top parody of action movies, but the actors within the McBain film perform the scene totally straight. That is the exact—the exact—energy of Venom: The Last Dance. It’s a well-acted, fun, entertaining film that never lets things like logic or taste get in the way of a good time. Characters do and say inexplicable things with complete sincerity because, fortunately, they are not trying to be in on the joke. That only makes the whole very funny movie even funnier. And except for a flat CGI-fest finale, Venom: The Last Dance is exactly what fans of the first two will want from a farewell to the Symbrock. That’s also exactly why detractors of the first two won’t like it.
Venom: The Last Dance is an alien-invasion combined with a buddy road trip. The symbiotes’ powerful, evil creator, Knull, has realized there’s a way out of the prison his creations put him in. He needs a newly created codex contained within Venom and Eddie Brock to escape. To get it, Knull sends his other, even bigger, way-too-powerful monsters to track it down.
What follows is an action-comedy with some heart sprinkled in, but not quite enough. The few quiet moments of Symbrock love and reflection we get are very effective. The lack of them becomes a real problem at the end when Eddie and Venom are faced with the possible end of their partnership. When that inevitable moment arrives it feels like the film forgot to include two or three necessary scenes along the way. The movie’s big moment still mostly works because of the history established between the two over the course of the previous movies, but it could have been even better.

That’s true of the entire third act, which actually delivers a very cool moment. (You don’t want it spoiled even though you’ll likely see it coming.) The shocking issue is that this very cool sequence completely falls apart during a tedious battle scene that’s too dark to enjoy. It’s somehow boring and easily the worst part of the film when it should be one of the best. If not for a consistent barrage of amazing one-liners (the film’s calling card) the scene would be a total dud. Things only improve when The Last Dance stops worrying about alien fights and focuses on Eddie and Venom.
A tedious third act is not nearly enough to sink the film, though. The first two acts are wonderfully absurd. Venom: The Last Dance is full of characters talking with the enthusiasm of Scoey telling McBain about his boat “The Live-4-Ever” right up until a hitman kills him. (In this case, that’s when the fate of the universe is at stake.) People in the movie are free from the burdens of reason or basic thinking no matter the situation. They do what the film needs them to do so the audience can have fun.
The Last Dance and its silly script pulls off its absurd approach because stars Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor never wink at the camera in any way. They definitely know what kind of film they’re in, but they never confirm they know. They’re playing everything seriously even while being absurd people who do things no rational person would.

The same is true of Rhys Ifans who plays a hippie alien hunter dragging his family to Area 51. Like the whole cast, he is all in on the role and he’s a delight every time he’s on screen. Especially because he’s essentially out of his mind without realizing it. None of the characters in this movie, whether super serious soldiers and scientists or haggard travelers, ever do anything you’d call “smart,” but they don’t know that. That approach of intentionally silly without acknowledging the over-the-top ridiculousness is why Venom: The Last Dance is almost a pure comedy. A very funny comedy.
One star who is never funny, though, is returning franchise alum Stephen Graham. He’s so dark and so good I fear most people are going to overlook his performance because he’s so believable. He’s the flipside to the same Tom Hardy coin. Yet again, Hardy delivers an incredible performance that is so natural and convincing it’s easy to forget there’s not actually a black goo alien inside of him.

Specifically, he has the funniest black goo alien to ever appear on screen inside of him. Venom absolutely kills in this movie, both when biting heads and when delivering the funniest lines. I loved him before this film, but I love him even more after it. He remains the best in The Last Dance, as the Venom series closes out one of the most consistent movie franchises ever made. All three set out to do the same thing—give viewers a fun night at the movies—and they all deliver.
If you liked the first two Venom films you’ll like The Last Dance. If you didn’t, then you won’t like this one, either. But I don’t understand how someone could dislike a real-life McBain movie starring a symbiote and better actors.

Where To Watch CRITICAL ROLE Campaign One
The Legend of Vox Machina has thrived since it premiered on Prime Video in 2022. In fact, Prime just renewed the show for season four. Based on the smashing actual-play tabletop roleplaying series Critical Role, the animated fantasy series has been a nonstop romp with action, heart, and magic. Also, dragons. If you can’t get enough of the adventuring group called Vox Machina, here’s where you can watch Critical Role Campaign One featuring your favs.

Critical Role started as a group of voice actor friends playing Dungeons & Dragons. Geek & Sundry started streaming their gameplay in 2015. The group was in the midst of playing their first campaign at the time. That first campaign featured the heroic group known as Vox Machina that we see in the animated series: Vex’ahlia (Laura Bailey), Vax’ildan (Liam O’Brien), Keyleth (Marisha Ray), Pike (Ashley Johnson), Grog (Travis Willingham), Percy (Taliesin Jaffe), and Scanlan (Sam Riegel). Matthew Mercer ran the game (and runs all the Critical Role games).
Critical Role‘s Vox Machina campaign has over 100 episodes, and you can find them on Geek & Sundry. Start here, with the first episode.
Then, once you’re thoroughly hooked, continue watching Critical Role Campaign One with this playlist.
After you finish watching Vox Machina’s heroics and antics, be sure to check out Critical Role’s many other excellent campaigns.

AGATHA ALL ALONG Gets CHARMED-Style Opening Credits
In 2024, our favorite show featuring powerful witchy women is Agatha All Along on Disney+. But in the ’90s and early ’00s, the Halliwell sisters on the WB’s Charmed were the trend-setting witches of the moment. For eight seasons, they cast spells, fought demons, and dressed up in all kinds of different cosplay. (Remember when they were mermaids? And superheroes?) Well, a fan of Charmed and Agatha on Twitter by the name of OBCrack has created a fan edit of the Agatha All Along credits. This one is done in the same retro style as the legendary Charmed Ones from back in the day. You can watch it right here:
Agatha All Along Intro – Charmed Style #AgathaAllAlong pic.twitter.com/yWy9GZ1Uai
— OBCrack (@OBcrack) October 22, 2024
This fan trailer has all the Charmed opening credits hallmarks. Most notably, the Love Spit Love cover of The Smiths’ “How Soon Is Now” which serves as the theme song. Interestingly, they chose to list the character names over the actor’s names. So it says “Agatha Harkness” instead of “Kathryn Hahn,” Lilia instead of Patti Lupone, etc. Although they probably did that for the joke of Joe Locke’s character credited as Teen, William Kaplan, and Billy Maximoff. Heck, they could have credited him as Wiccan too. But he hasn’t used his Marvel Comics superhero name on the series yet.

Now that we’ve had a Charmed edit for Agatha All Along, we’re hoping for another mash-up. Here’s hoping a fan out there does one inspired by American Horror Story: Coven. In some ways, the 2013 version of FX’s anthology series is the opposite of the ’90s-style network style of Charmed. But Agatha All Along owes as much to those witches of Miss Robichaux’s Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies as they do to other TV witches. We’d say Bewitched, but WandaVision pretty much covered that one. But when it comes to TV pop culture witches, the list for inspiration is long.

THE LEGEND OF VOX MACHINA Renewed for Season 4
Rejoice Critters! Although season three of The Legend of Vox Machina will conclude with its final episodes on October 24, fans of the series don’t have to say any goodbyes yet. And that’s because Prime Video has renewed The Legend of Vox Machina for season four. Cue much rejoicing throughout the kingdom. While the Critical Role-based series has been a true hit among fans, these days, nothing is certain in the television landscape. And so it must come as a great relief to receive this renewal announcement before season three has even concluded. That’s the kind of news we love to see fans receiving.
To celebrate the season four renewal news, Prime Video brought the cast of The Legend of Vox Machina together to reveal the good word in a charmingly adorable video. Taliesin Jaffe, who plays Percy, Marisha Ray, who plays Keyleth, Laura Bailey, who plays Vex, and Sam Reigel, who plays Scanlan and serves as an executive producer, were all overjoyed to proclaim that The Legend of Vox Machina would return for another season. Reigel noted, “That gang will be back for more epic adventures!” And the whole cast urged fans to show Prime Video how much they love the series by rewatching series 1-3. We copy loud and clear.
In a release, Reigel further added, “We are beyond thrilled – and grateful – to continue the epic and wild adventures of Vex, Vax, Keyleth, Percy, Pike, Grog and everyone’s favorite character – Scanlan. With each season, this show levels up, and we already have big plans to level up both our heroes and villains in Season Four.” We love a level up…and can’t wait 4 The Legend of Vox Machina season four.

Meanwhile, on the Prime Video end, Melissa Wolfe, head of animation at Amazon MGM Studios, shares, “The fantastic team at Critical Role and Titmouse continues to deliver captivating seasons of The Legend of Vox Machina and we are excited for more to come. Our global Prime Video audience has embraced this series from the beginning and the fans, along with us, remain passionate about the characters and stories.”
We guess our favorite band of merry misfits will have to come together to save the world from disaster one more time. There’s no rest for the Party… and for the renewed. While we wait for season four of The Legend of Vox Machina, you can check out the original Critical Role campaign above. It will surely be the best complement you can find to the series itself.
Additionally, for those who have yet to tune in for season three, can check out its synopsis below:
In Season Three, the Chroma Conclave’s path of destruction spreads like wildfire while the Cinder King hunts down Vox Machina. Our lovable band of misfits must rise above inner (and outer) demons to try and save their loved ones, Tal’Dorei, and all of Exandria.
And if you haven’t watched any of the series yet (what are you waiting for!), the synopsis for The Legend of Vox Machina as a whole reads:
They’re rowdy, they’re ragtag, they’re misfits turned mercenaries for hire. Vox Machina is more interested in easy money and cheap ale than actually protecting the realm. But when the kingdom is threatened by evil, this boisterous crew realizes that they are the only ones capable of restoring justice. What began as a simple payday is now the origin story behind Exandria’s newest heroes.
Seasons 1-3 of The Legend of Vox Machina are currently streaming on Prime Video.

CREATURE COMMANDOS T-Shirts, Funko Pops, and Statues Have Arrived
The first official entry in James Gunn’s new DCU is the animated series Creature Commandos, which hits the Max streaming service this winter. The series is based on the old DC Comics series Weird War Tales from the ’80s. That comic featured a military strike team of classic monsters who fought the Nazis in World War II. Now, DC Studios has updated it for the modern day. And James Gunn himself wrote every episode in the first season.
In anticipation of Creature Commandos’ impending release, for those of you wanting to show your support and fandom for Task Force M (the “M” stands for monster, ya know) DC already has a ton of merch available. Among the products showcasing James Gunn’s new elite strike force of freaks and weirdos, there are several Funko Pop vinyl figures. There’s also a new statue of Weasel from McFarlane Toys, and several T-shirts as well. You can check them all out down below in our gallery.

Among the first wave of Creature Commandos Funko figures are Eric Frankenstein, the Bride, and the Batman baddie Dr. Phosphorus. Joining him are G.I. Robot, and the Gil Woman, Nina Mazursky. Oh, we also can’t forget Weasel, whom fans already know from James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Other characters set to appear in Creature Commandos include Rick Flag Sr., Batman villain Clayface, and Wonder Woman’s nemesis, Circe. Maybe they’ll get figures of their own in a future Funko Pop wave.

As for the Creature Commandos t-shirts, they each evoke the old-school quality of DC Comics from the ’80s. These comics often featured floating character heads surrounding the title logos on the covers. You can pre-order all of these already from the official DC Comics online shop. You can catch Creature Commandos when they drop their first episode on Max on December 5.

Everything We Know So Far About SUPERGIRL: WOMAN OF TOMORROW
James Gunn’s new DCU is getting ready to launch in cinemas all over the globe next year with the release of Superman. But just one year later, Kal-El’s cousin Kara, a.k.a Supergirl, is hitting the big screen as well, in the character’s first feature film in over 40 years. Here’s everything we know so far about DC Studios’ upcoming movie about the Girl of Steel, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
Title
Like the comic book upon which it is based, the title of the film is Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. It will be the second film in James Gunn’s Chapter 1 of his new DCU, titled “Gods and Monsters.”
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’s Plot
Based on the 2021-2022 series of the same name by Batman writer Tom King and artist Bilquis Evely, the film will be a grand intergalactic adventure. In this story, Kara Zor-El, Superman’s young cousin, will embark on a journey through space on her 21st birthday. Joining her on this adventure is Krypto the Superdog. In space she meets a young alien girl named Ruthye who asks Kara for her help in getting revenge for the killing of her family by a man known as Krem of the Yellow Hills. Kara is far more jaded than her cousin Kal-El, who came to Earth as a baby. In stark contrast, this version of Kara witnessed the destruction of her home planet at age 14, changing her outlook on life going forward.
Behind-The-ScenesSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is directed by I, Tonya and Cruella director Craig Gillespie, from a script by Ana Nogueira. Although she has written screenplays before, most know Nogueira from her role in the CW series The Vampire Diaries. DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran are producing. Of Nogueira, Gunn said “Ana is an amazing writer whose screenplay adaptation of Woman of Tomorrow is above and beyond anything I hoped it would be.”

He later said (via The Hollywood Reporter) “[Writer] Anna [Nogueira] came in, and she pitched the story to me of Supergirl, and it was just one of the best pitches I’ve ever heard, and she immediately wrote it. She came in with the first draft that was great, and it’s just gotten better and better. Then [director] Craig [Gillespie] has been incredibly easy to work with, and I can’t wait for that to come out.”
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’s Cast
Our titular woman of tomorrow is none other than House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock. As fans probably know, she played the younger Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in the first season of that series. Joining her is Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts, famous for his role in Netflix’s The Old Guard. Here, he’s the antagonist of the film, Krem of the Yellow Hills. Although not confirmed, we imagine there will be some kind of smaller role for David Corenswet as Kara’s cousin Superman.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Release DateSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is set to release in theaters worldwide on June 26, 2026.

The Scariest Moment in TV History: When PUNKY BREWSTER’s Cherie Got Stuck in the Refrigerator
Plenty of things scare me or make me uncomfortable, but I only have one true phobia. I have Cleithrophobia, the fear of being trapped in a small space. I’m not even afraid of small spaces on their own. Tiny rooms with unlocked doors don’t bother me. I even enjoy the coziness of an MRI. But if that machine had a door the technician snapped shut once I got inside? Nope, couldn’t do it. I can’t even look at that photo of a person stuck in a cave without getting physically ill. And I know exactly who’s responsible for this lifelong terror: Punky Brewster. The show traumatized me as a kid with the scariest moment in tv history. I’m forever haunted by Cherie getting stuck in that old refrigerator.

I was too young to watch “Cherie Lifesaver” when it debuted on January 19, 1986, so I don’t know the exact date I finally did. I just know is I was definitely still too young to watch it when I caught a syndicated rerun as a little kid. And I’m still too young for it. I rewatched it for this article and found it extremely unsettling. Somehow it was even worse than I remembered.
If you also saw “Cherie Lifesaver” as a little kid you don’t need me to tell you why. It’s a genuinely terrifying episode for any kind of television show, let alone a family sitcom they used to re-air before school. If you’ve never seen it, though, it’s hard to capture in words just how dark it gets. The episode revolves around two seemingly unrelated subplots: elementary students learning CPR and Punky’s foster dad Henry buying a new refrigerator. Watching it as an adult it’s immediately obvious something bad is going to happen, but “foreshadowing” was not something a young child would understand despite the episode putting them in actual writing.

Eventually the two subplots come together in the most nightmarish way. Cherie, Punky, and their schoolmates Allen and Margaux play hide-and-seek in the yard. That’s also where Henry has put his old broken fridge for now. But snow interrupts both the game and Henry’s plan to remove the refrigerator door for safety reasons. Everyone instead heads inside, unaware Cherie is not still in the building. She’s hiding in the fridge.
Which she can’t open from the inside.
And no one can hear her quiet pleas even amid the eerie quiet of falling snow.

The camera lingers on the isolated fridge. And it lingers. And it lingers as the show goes to commercial. When it comes back from the break she’s still inside and no one knows where she could be.
It was absolutely horrible to watch, and that was before little me realized she was running out of air, something I didn’t even know to worry about. That only becomes obvious when Henry opens the fridge and Cherie IS DEAD. She’s dead. She’s not breathing and has no pulse. But Henry doesn’t know CPR. Neither does class clown Allen, because he was goofing off during the lesson and got sent to the principal’s office when their teacher taught everyone how to perform CPR.

I’m getting anxious just recapping this old episode of TV. That photo of Cherie is making my chest tighten.
Fortunately Punky and Margaux did pay attention in class and they use CPR to save Cherie’s life. That’s literally true because—-and I truly can’t stress this enough—Cherie had died. On TV. On Punky F***ing Brewster. She got locked in the refrigerator, ran out of oxygen, and DIED.
And I’ve been afraid of being trapped in small spaces ever since. There’s nothing in the history of television that has ever scared me as much, let alone resulted in a lifelong phobia.

If you assume I hate this episode of Punky Brewster, well, I don’t. Sure, it’s not fun freaking out when I can’t get my wedding ring off because my finger feels “trapped.” And it’s not exactly a blast having a panic attack on a theme park ride I didn’t realize is fully enclosed. It’s that I am thankful for this far-too-terrifying episode of Punky Brewster. I made sure to learn CPR when I got the chance for one. And second Cherie’s brief death guaranteed I will never, ever, ever get inside a refrigerator.
I’m too afraid of what could happen for that to ever happen.
