Raymond Chandler Didn’t Care About Plot

Alexander M Zoltai:

It’s been good to see more and more people admitting that many of the “Rules” of writing are Bunk…

Today’s re-blog shares some important Insights…

Raymond Chandler

I’ve always found Raymond Chandler’s writing to be inspirational, sublime, and maddening. I have no idea how many times I’ve read Farewell, My Lovely, and there’s still a lot about it I just don’t get. The work is an adventure tale, a work of art, and a puzzle. Chandler broke a lot of ru...

Thinking About Being a Self-Employed Writer?

Alexander M Zoltai:

I’ve often wondered if I could have supported myself with writing…

I know I didn’t get down to doing serious writing until my military pension started…

Could I, still, make enough with words to stay alive?

If you have a similar question, today’s Re-blog may have the answer……...

First of all, does it matter if your editor is American, British, Canadian, Australian, or any other flavour of English?

Not for developmental editing, because that’s...

Should Rejection by a Publisher Be Praised ?

Traditional Publishing demands an author find an agent (some strangely lucky folk avoid this)—said agent to deal with various publishers and secure a contract for the author’s work.

Writer's Rejection

Needless to say (?) — Traditional Publishing rejects more authors than they publish

This fact may be the primary driver of Self-Publishing.

However, of those lucky few who do (finally, after many, multiple rejections) get selec...

Are you looking for Price or Value in Publishing?

Alexander M Zoltai:

Since this blog is about Reading, Writing, and Publishing, I think I might point out that more Readers are becoming Writers and more Writers are becoming Publishers :-)

Today’s re-blog is from one of my favorite Publishing-Aid Companies...

Finding a Social Network I Can Truly Engage With ~~~ #Wattpad

I’ve been engaged in a social media endeavor for 4 years, 10 months, and 18 days—right here on this blogWattpad

Naturally, since I’m a writer (and, naturally, a reader, too…), I tried the “social networks”:

Facebook—a raucous place for writers (or, readers)—folks standing up on platforms, shouting about their wares

Google Plus—more mature than Facebook but still not geared, specifically, toward writers (or, readers)

LinkedIn—hmmm… Sure writing’s a “business” but

Twitter—broke up with it numerous...

Literacy is transformative: it increases earning potential, decreases inequality, improves health outcomes and breaks the cycle of poverty (UNESCO). Yet there are 740 million illiterate people in this world and 250 million children of primary school age who lack basic reading and writing ski...

Very Short, Very Powerful Review of My Book on #Wattpad . . .

It was only 12 days ago when I published the post,Two Women Writers Convince Me to Experiment on Wattpad . ..Wattpad

I referenced an article on theAlliance of Independent Authorssite that led to a video that’s at the end of that post ( a conversation betweenOrna RossandElizabeth S. Craig); and, I indicated the two reasons I was going to do my WattpadExperiment:

“Authors don’t have to write serially, they just need to publish serially.”

“If you already have a free book, it makes sense to leverage ito...

Writers, stay true to your standards. Long night of the literary soul

Alexander M Zoltai:

I’ve said it a number of times in this blog—it’s easier to publish then ever before in human history…

However…

Selling books is just as hard as it ever was—some say harder than ever…

Today’s re-blog has Roz Morris revealing how a writer—well-published and savvy—is coping with the ups and downs of the BookWorld.
