A Blog Conversation about Writers’ Groups . . .

Our previous conversation here was about Book Promotion; but, it ended due to a lack of reader comment… [image error]

I’ll begin this new discussion by sharing that I’ve only attended two writers’ groups in my relatively long life and didn’t see the benefits of the arrangement.

My not appreciating the experience could have been due to the way they were conducted or the particular people attending; though, now that I’m quite a bit older then when they happened, I could add my individual “disposition” to wh...

The Family as Inattentive Audience

Today’s re-blog is meta-ponderable…

I’ve written a new essay, and I’m eager to share it. After we’ve eaten the dinner I rushed to prepare in between writing and participating in a Skype call with other writers — and thus screwed up, missing that the whole wheat orecchiette was supposed to be cooked in the chicken broth — I open up my laptop. “Want to hear the essay I wrote about me and my brother Rick today?”

My husband’s head is down; he’s...

Still More Conversation about Book Promotion . . .

This discussion began on November 7th and continued on Nov. 9th… [image error]

We’ve talked a bit about the book Be the Gateway and dealt with having no idea how to promote a book and Book Fairs and Book Talks; and, here we are with the following comment (which is letting us continue the conversation) from an accomplished author from Australia:

“I think that true promotion requires reaching out to other people – it’s not bashing them over the head. As Dan says: ‘…It means we have to engage with other huma...

Read today’s re-blog to gain a bit of understanding about a writer with dyslexia………

A guest post from Ryder Ziebarth:

In third grade, we practiced our reading aloud in homeroom each afternoon. If we didn’t falter, Mrs. Karrick sent us to Assembly Hall for the last half hour of the day, where a group of better readers gathered with the head of the lower school, Mrs. Drysdale, to practice.

I remember when I was sent to Assembly Hall. I felt so smart, walking down the g...

Twin Birthdays for Twin Manifestations

In lieu of a re-blog today, I’m sharing a video that’s very meaningful to me and may interest some readers of this blog…

I offer an alert for certain folks, being aware that a presentation of a part of my Faith might trouble various people…

Yesterday and today are the Birthdays of the Baha’i Twin Manifestations…

The video was released in 2015…

More Conversation about Book Promotion . . .

Click for Info…

This discussion began on November 7th

The comment that let this conversation continue came from a writer, poet, and artist living in Belgium:

“Well, I have yet to finish a book, so I have no idea. But will be reading along!”

I couldn’t have had a better first comment if I’d paid someone to write it :-)

First, I’m glad this writer was able to admit they have no idea how to promote a book—eight years ago, I also had no idea; but, I was fully aware I’d be self-publishing so, whi...

A Blog Conversation about Book Promotion . . .

[image error] Our last discussion here ended due to a lack of reader comment; though, it broke a local record—longest conversation since this blogging format began back in late February.

There were ten posts in that record-breaking conversation about “Rules of Writing“

Plus, we’ve already had short discussions about Book Promotion which you can find here, here, and here

I’m attempting to get another conversation going about promotion because I’ve personally, and many others I’ve read have also, suffered...

A Day as an Emerging Writer

Pay very close attention while reading today’s re-blog………

BREVITY's Nonfiction Blog

A guest post from Rachel Greenley:

I didn’t realize how difficult it would be. To simply sit down. Every day. And write. To learn the novice mistakes. To correct them. To learn more novice mistakes. To correct them. It’s an endless cycle.

I don’t like calling myself an “emerging” writer. Think about what emerging means…to rise up, to come into existence, to develop. Would I call myself a “developing writer?” A...

Yes, We’re Still Having a Conversation about the “Rules of Writing” . . .

This Blog Conversation began on October 15th and continued on Oct. 17th19th22nd24th26th29th, 31st, and November 2nd… [image error]

It’s also the longest discussion, so far, in this new style of posting that began back in March…

And, I encourage anyone interested in thinking deeply about the “rules of writing” to go back and read the past nine posts—our readers’ comments are very thought provoking…

The first commenter on our last post is the reader who’s commented the most in this series of conve...
