Our main character decides on Our Story, a love story that will not only win his wife back, but can also double as his next novel.

Excerpt:

The silence between us seemed to last an eternity. As we stared at each other, her fingers reached toward mine and traced long lines on my hand. We didn’t hug, didn’t really say anything else until it was goodbye. No happily ever after, not today.

“I wasn’t wrong about us,” she said, her voice hard and determined. But because there were words attached to that voice of hers, I didn’t place a whole lot of trust in them. “Morgan, I love you. No matter what happens, whether you hate me and never speak with me or see me again, I will always love you and the time we shared. And because of this love, I will always be waiting for you, just like Olivia waits until the end of time for Oliver. I’ll be there, always waiting, always for you.” She smiled at that point, and the sadness and doubt from earlier was gone.

“Goodbye, Emma.”

“Bye, Morgan.”

EXCERPT:
He laughs at me like I have said the funniest joke in the world. I keep my face neutral, not wanting to show any emotions while he finally collects himself. “You are amusing. Aren’t you afraid? Why do you not fear me? Do you know what I have done to Kakabel? What I intend to do to you?”

I shrug my shoulders, wanting to appear as calm as possible. “I won’t be scared if I tell myself there is nothing to fear. You cannot hurt me because I will tell myself not to feel pain. I don’t know what you did to my art professor so I won’t know what you will do to me.” I play him with words because I know he won’t understand.

“Where are your wings?” he demands, angry now because I’m not giving anything away.

“What this?” I nod my chin to the necklace around my neck. He comes forward and yanks it off my neck. “Hey, I like that,” I whine like a spoiled child.

“Malachi,” he calls towards the other room. In a few seconds, Malachi is by his side. He takes Cole’s wings that Cerviel hands him and studies it before laughing. “I thought you would like that.” Malachi throws it on the floor and stomps on it. “Go back to Samson,” Cerviel orders him. Malachi is gone in the blink of an eye, leaving me alone with Cerviel again.

“That’s my necklace.” I pout. “There’s no reason to treat it that way.”

“It will hurt your lover,” he informs me with a malicious smile. “If you will not cooperate, then we will torture him.”

“How?” I challenge him.

“His wings,” he indicates to the necklace lying on the floor, “contains a link to him. They’re still connected even though they’re not attached. If you hurt one, then you hurt the other.”

“You’re insane.” I act like his notions are ridiculous.

“Want to test it out?” he picks it up and places his hands on either end like he’s about to twist it or break it in two.

“No!” I scream, terrified that what he says is true.

Games up. I lost this match. Sugar snaps!

“What are you?” he asks again patiently. He takes a chair and places it in front of me. Then, he sits down, folding his legs and hands as they rest on his leg. He’s acting like this is a normal conversation over tea with a friend.

“Can I have some water, please?” I’m trying to buy some time to get away.

“After you answer my questions,” he answers.

“Are you going to let me go after I do?”

“It depends on if I like your answers.” He smiles sweetly at me. “What are you?”

“A girl who is starting to get pissed off that you keep asking me that, like I’m a freaking alien or something!” I scream it at him. I close my eyes and take a deep breath to calm down when I feel a slap across my face. My eyes dart open and I glare at him angrily. I taste blood on the side of my mouth. He stares at the wound and I see a light bulb go off in his eyes. He grins wickedly at me and then produces a switch blade from his pocket.

“Let’s see how much of a pissed off girl you really can be,” he mocks me and then plunges the knife into my hand, impaling it into the arm of the chair I was gripping. My eyes bulge open in shock and horror and I want to scream, but I tell my nerves not to feel anything and my hand goes dead of feeling. I’m so glad right now that I’m a freak.

He watches my expression change with amusement and then looks lethal again when I don’t scream out. I drum the fingers of my other hand on the arm of the chair. Acting like I’m bored with this act.

“Where are your wings?” Cerviel demands of me.

“I don’t have any wings you freakin’ lunatic. I’m just a girl.” I start laughing because my hand not responding to being impaled is a pretty sure sign that I am not human. I feel psychotic in the moment. I think shock is setting in and I cannot control it. I just continue to laugh at him.

His face breaks out in uncontrolled angry grimace and then he pulls the knife out of my hand and plunges it into my chest. I feel it tear through the arteries of my heart. I’m so shocked he did it that I stop breathing, which ends my laughter.

“Go and find her brother,” I hear him bark at someone before I black out again.

Excerpt
Kirsten

“First of all, Mother, it is called a sperm bank, not a

sperm bar.” I cannot believe I am having this

conversation right now. “And where did you get this

information from?”

Max looked over at me, smirking.

“Why does it matter where I heard it from? What

will people think?” cried my mother.

“Fuck! Mom, no one is gonna care where or how I

get a baby.” I want to crawl into a hole and die. “Mom,

you wouldn’t by any chance be talking to Marie, would

you? Is that where all this came from? Did she tell you

I’m planning to go to a sperm bank? Or did she tell you

I should think about going to a sperm bank?”

“That’s not the point, Kirsten. The point is that it’s

time for you to settle down and think about having a

family. You need to be more like Marie,” my mom

lectured.

“Like Marie? My sister, Marie? The one who wears

yoga pants and ponytails everywhere and has a kid

attached to her hip? No, thanks. Don’t get me wrong,

Mom. I love Marie, but I’d rather not schedule in sex

night.”

Book Blitz: The Muse by Erin McFadden

Picture Title: Muse
Author: Erin Mc Fadden
Genre: YA/NA Contemporary Fantasy

Tour Host: Lady Amber's Tours

Picture Book Description:
The Brotherhood of the Guardians has existed for thousands of years to serve a single purpose: the protection of Talents, the mortal descendants of the original nine Muses.

Twenty-one year-old Daniel Lyoncourt has trained his entire life to join the Guardians. Daniel is prepared to risk his life in order to keep his Talent safe, but when he's assigned to nineteen year-old Anna Saint-James, he discovers that his life isn't the only thing he could lose. Anna has no idea how special she is and knows nothing about her abilities. He must teach her to control her gifts, keep her safe, and hope that he can find a place in her life as something more than just her bodyguard.

All power comes at a price. Like all Talents, Anna must one day make a choice: lose all of her powers, or ascend to a higher plane, leaving behind everyone she loves.

Excerpt:

You see, the price of being a Talent is that one day they must make a choice; remain in the mortal world and lose the abilities that have defined their existence, or ascend to the Realm of Influence. I have no idea what happens then, it's never been shared with us. We are the ones left behind, because in the entire history of the Guardians, a Talent has never chosen to remain mortal.

SMASHWORDS http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/374831

Picture I am please to share that Erin agreed to share a little more about herself with the readers. Let's jump right into her interview.

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
I’ve always told myself stories and enjoyed writing in general, but I never considered writing a book until after my daughter was born. I started feeling like I was defined by my husband, daughter, and job rather than by any of my own accomplishments. I needed something that was my own. One day, I sat down and just started typing. My ambition sort of grew from there!

How long did it take you to write your book?
Muse was my NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) project for 2012. I’d never participated before, but decided to wing it a few days into November. To my surprise, I actually passed the 50,000 word mark on November 28, (my birthday!) and the rough draft of Muse was born. I spent the next several months revising and polishing before sending it off to an editor.

What genre is your book? What made you choose to write in that category?
Muse is a young adult contemporary fantasy. I’m naturally drawn to paranormal and fantasy stories because I enjoy the magic and escapism. I love tales that blend reality with fantastic elements that leave you wondering, what if?

What was your work schedule like when you were writing?
I work full time in law enforcement, typically at night.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I do the vast majority of my writing in the middle of the night when everyone else is asleep. I also firmly believe that eating a fudge bar helps my writing, but that might be a subconscious excuse to eat chocolate ice cream!

Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
Most of my ideas come from dreams I’ve had. I’ll wake up from a particularly vivid dream and dash for a computer to try to write out notes before it slips away. The best ones seem to stick with me, but the notes certainly help.

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
Muse is my first published novel. I have a few others that are unfinished, or that I was unsatisfied for one reason or another. Obviously, Muse is my favorite right now, but I have two in progress that I’m really excited about.

Are you currently working on another book? If so, is it part of a series or something different?
I’m currently working on Talent, book two in the Descended from Myth series. I also have an unrelated book titled Whimper that I’m working on. Whimper is more of a New Adult science fiction dealing with a new viral strain that threatens to wipe out the under forty age group as it spreads chaos. It was inspired by the T.S. Elliot poem, The Hollow Men. “This is the way the world ends/ Not with a bang but a whimper”

What do you like to do when you're not writing?
I enjoy baking and making craft projects with my little girl, and occasionally sneaking in a date night with my husband.

What does your family think of your writing?
My family has been very encouraging! I was so touched by how excited they were about my book’s release and by all the help they’ve offered.

What was one of the most surprising things you learned about yourself in creating your books?
It’s very hard for me to “brag” about myself and my accomplishments so I’ve been forced to take a big step outside my comfort zone in order to promote my book. I’d still feel better hiding behind the book cover, but I’m learning to reach out and ask for help while putting myself forward a bit more.

Do you have any suggestions to help others become a better writer? If so, what are they?
It is so tempting to try to write whatever is “hot” right now, but I believe it’s always better to work on stories that are true to your own vision and style.

Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?
I’m just starting to get reviews and messages from readers.  A few readers have told me that they have a really hard time getting into or finishing books, or that they don’t typically lose themselves in a novel, but that they loved Muse and it inspired them to read more. If I can inspire a love of reading in anyone, that’s a pretty huge compliment.

What do you think makes a good story?
I think that’s a different answer for everyone. For me, if a book can make me experience a character’s emotions, to feel as if I’m part of the story instead of just an observer then it’s very good.

As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
I wanted to be a veterinarian for most of my childhood and into college. Unfortunately, I am horrible at chemistry and ended up having to come up with a new life plan. I still love working with animals.

Are you self-published or do you have a publisher? If self-published, what made you decide to go that route?
I am self-published. I was offered a publishing contract that I ultimately rejected. It was a difficult decision that was only made after a lot of research and after talking to a lot of authors and people with far more experience in publishing than I had.

The population of Calastan is thriving and the Governess has decided that they need to expand.  She has spoken to the other tribes and has the go ahead to explore Resolution and expand into that territory.  The Governess turns to Jein and Yurani to go and explore the new land and start a village that can sustain a new population.  In Resolution, they find more than just a land blessed with life and nature, but they also find their lost ancestors.  The ones that had explored before and never returned.

Join Jein and Yurani as they explore Resolution searching for a new home for their people.  Finding land and food is the easy part…it’s what else they find that rewrites their history.

Excerpt:

“Yurani,” I say with an expression of utmost seriousness. “Let’s get in the trees and travel high today!” My expression changes immediately into a smile and I jog to the nearest tree that will allow us to get up without any struggle. The trees here are not like the EKkyl trees of Calastan; these trees, although tall and very broad, have limbs much lower to the ground. This makes the climb easy. As we go from limb to limb, climbing higher we take brief moments to look at the land around us. It only took a few minutes to climb to the top where we could see above the top of the forest and look out for miles in every direction. The air was clear and starting to warm. There were no clouds in the sky; just, a beautiful blue hue that hung in the air. The view was truly overwhelming. From here the land resembles Calastan at a brief glance but upon scrutiny you can plainly see the differences.

Author Bio:

As a youth I loved to write and originally set out to deal with life. I never dreamed I would be writing to share with the world. As an adult my writing continued and have always been told I was talented. I finally listened and put my imagination to the test and started to write a book. Amazingly it took very little time to create an entire world and people and story line. This book reflects how I perceive life and how I feel it should really be!

God has given me a great talent, wonderful support team and I'm finally using my gift from him!

Calastan is the first book in the Jein's Journey series that introduces you to Jein in her seventeenth year. Jein is a beautiful young woman who refuses to follow tradition and wants to do things her own way (kinda reflects my personality to the "T").

I am a mother of three and grandmother to one ~ my driving force is to show them to NEVER give up on dreams and goals, they can be reached if you believe.

Book Blitz: A Long Time Coming

Picture Title: A Long Time Coming  (Perfect Timing Series #2)
Author: Heather Van Fleet
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance

Release Day: November 12th, 2013
Publisher: Sunshine Press

Tours Host: Lady Amber's Tours

Picture Blurb:

Abigail Orson has a problem. A love problem to be precise; and she has absolutely no idea how to go about fixing it.

For years now, she has been chasing her best friend’s brother—demanding things from him that he’s never wanted to give. For one? A real relationship that surpasses well beyond that dreaded ‘just friends’ zone. You see, David Anderson is her idea of perfection to a T. The one and only guy who has ever had the ability to make her heart beat faster; make her toes curl with the simple blink of his long, girly lashes. But David is also a recovering amputee, and the only thing he really wants from Abigail is to be left alone. Abigail is a fighter though, and losing the one guy who has ruined her for every other is no longer an option.

A guy with one leg who has lost his motivation to live—to love—to actually be a man. David believes he’s a waste of space. If only the beautiful girl of his unattainable dreams would get that through her perfect, blonde, stubborn head! He’s not the right guy for Abigail. He’ll never be worthy of what she deserves. However, staying away is almost impossible, especially when he’s just as in love with her as she is with him. But Abigail has a life ahead of her, one that’s definitely livable without a nineteen–year–old gimp like him holding her down. What makes her want to stick around is beyond questionable to David’s mind.

Choices will be made. Lines will be drawn. And together, they will face challenges that nobody saw coming. David and Abigail may have had almost fourteen years to fall in love, but the thing is, timing and love have never exactly worked in their favor.

It has been years in the making, and definitely A Long Time Coming for David and Abigail. Let’s hope they don’t screw it up before they actually have the chance to get it right…

Excerpt:

She spun around, nibbling on her lip, grabbing both of his hands as she pulled him slowly along with her. Her eyes were so focused and shiny that he barely remembered his own name, let alone what he was about to say.

“No crutches, David.”

They made it to the edge of the floor, just as the tempo of the music slowed, to that of a seductive, rhythmic beat. She pulled his hands towards her, and he took that non–verbal command, wrapping his arms around her waist. His fingers knew just what to do, settling into the curves of her body right above her perfect ass. Those damn traitorous body parts had a mind of their own.

“I won’t let you fall…” she whispered in his ear, running her fingers through the back of his hair like a vixen who he wanted to steal away forever, only, though, so he could lock her up with him in the backseat of her car again.

Shit …it wasn’t the fear of falling that worried him. Oh no…it was the fear of never wanting to let her go again.
