I spent a lot of time researching the 1889 Parisian Exposition for my Victorian Menage series. Some of my favorite research was on Eiffel's Tower. People hated it, it was only supposed to last 20 years, but of course some loved it and nearly everyone wanted to climb it. It's now a national icon.

Friday Recipe: Slow Cooker Chicken Tinga

I changed this Slow Cooker Chicken Tinga a little because to me the purpose of a crock-pot recipe is to ignore it until the meal is finished. So I cut my chicken into smaller pieces and didn't shred it. May defeat the purpose of (or my understanding of) Tinga, but I use my crock-pot for when I'm not home so I have a ready made meal when I do get home!

It also makes me think of alternatives, such as just adding chili powder and red pepper. I'll have to play around with it.

DIY Thursday: Homemade Gummy Bears

Yeah, it's healthy, but more importantly it's healthier to eat. No suspicious preservatives or unpronounceable ingredients. I made 3 kinds, one using OJ (no, it wasn't fresh squeezed, it was Florida Natural) and 2 using different kinds of V8 Fusion.
