Do Parents Stereotype Their Children?

I don’t know about you, but my parents fit into the category of different hopes for my brother and me. My brother was supposed to go to college, but he didn’t. I was meant to have an office job, but I didn’t do that either. Does that mean we were both disappointments?
What do I mean by that?
Parents stereotype their children right from birth. Stereotyping must be a learned behavior. Everyone grows up expecting gir...

Call, Text, or Tweet – Today’s messages Forgotten

Emails, text messages, notifications, tweets, voice mail, it goes on and on, and the messages pile up unopened. Anyway, who uses voice mail these days, every message is a text instead. I don’t think we have used our answering machine in years. Many people no longer use landline phones. They have become attached to their smartphones.
The last time we used an answering machine, a local politician running f...

Homemade Egg Nog

The only downsidewas that I used an electric hand mixer. A stand mixer would work best to free up your other hand to pour the milk mixture and mix the eggs in at the same time.

I found this recipe several years ago on the Food Network. Since then, it has become a favorite of my family. It is so easy to make, being on the same idea as a dump recipe. I’m posting it here because, this is where I like to put my favorite recipes and now that I’ve been getting requests from friends for this recipe, posting it here will make it easier to find. My recipe paper file has become a bit worn over the years.
Enjoy! We will be serving this dish at our Thanksgiving meal as a newly...

NaNoWriMo 2016 – Juggling Work, School, and Writing
It’s November. The month of cooking turkeys and baking pies and crazy holiday shopping. Then there is NaNoWriMo. That crazy writing challenge where a person sits down to write 1,667 words a day to complete a 50,000-word novel in 30 days.
Do you NaNo?
I have taken part in NaNoWriMo since 2010. NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. Thousands upon thousands or maybe millions upon millions of writers sit down to write a novel in hopes of winning the writing challenge. The final priz...

Facebook Privacy vs. Employee Venting
When an Employee should keep their mouth shut or stay off Facebook

There are those on Facebook who will post just about anything and wonder why it comes back to bite them in their ass. The ones who do this all the time appear to forget that their posts are visible to the world. Nothing is private when it comes to the internet. When are they going to learn this? If you want a private site – d...

Bridging a Gap in Employment Skills
Over six month ago I faced a life-changing event called unemployment. It was a terrible dilemma to face after working for the same company for almost ten years. The longer a person is employed by a corporation, the more they begin to focus on the little benefits they can take advantage of that is there for those who are dedicated to their work. But when that moment comes along and yanks those sought after benefits away, you begin to ask why?
Why did I stay so long if this was going to happen...

What’s Wrong With Now?
Everyone likes now, right?
Instant gratification. We all want this, every
one of us. Win the lottery and instantly become a millionaire. Everyone’s dream.
What is wrong with now?
When I was growing up, we worked for what we wanted. We waited and saved our pennies until we could afford that car or shoes we dreamed of buying. Today’s generation is different. They must fear missing an opportunity whatever that might be.
They have to party hard, now, or miss the opportunity to make themselves loo...

Birth Control Pills Could Be Sold Without a Prescription: A Possibility?

There is talk going around that there may come a time when contraceptive birth control pills will be purchased over the counter without a prescription. What would this mean to teenage girls?
A teenager is more likely to become pregnant than a forty-year-old woman. The life of a teenager is not as innocent as many would like to think. This is a time for exploring their feelings and their bodies. A pare...

A Glimpse Into my Past – Growing up in Pepperell, Ma.
Every once in a while I get into a reminiscing mode and begin thinking of how things were way back when I was young, growing up in Pepperell, Massachusetts. Back then, my hometown was small. It had a population of approximately 6,000 people. It was a town where everybody knew each other.
There is a lot of history associated with Pepperell. This history goes all the way back to the Revolutionary War. We had Colonel William Prescott who fought at the Battle of Bunker Hill. He was credited with...
