LOOK WHAT CAME IN TWO WHOLE DAYS EARLY AS I WAS RUSHING OFF TO CHEM LAB

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I’M SO HAPPY

It literally got delivered as I was packing up to leave for class, and I opened it and spent like 5 minutes stroking and hugging it before I left.  :p

Receiver of Many - Review

delightfully-difficult-pirate:

I could not have asked
for a better retelling of the Hades and Persephone story from Greek
legends. In Receiver of Many you are able to connect with the ancient
gods of Hellas in a way you never have before. They are no longer the
two-dimensional characters you read in Homer. You feel their pain, their
joy, and their pleasure.

Persephone is finally given a voice of
her own and it is mighty. No weak willed plot device or fainting heroine
to be saved, The Queen of the Underworld gives as good as she gets.

This is a must read for any fan of Greek legends

@kata-chthonia ’s chapter 22 italics are sexy and well chosen in receiver of many.

Yay ^_^

The italic of Centaur is its companion font, Arrighi, so named because Ludovico Arrighi was the author of the original 16th century manuscript from which Centaur, a 20th century font, was inspired and formatted.

I especially love the letter ‘f’ both in Centaur and in Arrighi, because of its ligature interference with other letters like ‘l’ and 'i’. But I especially love the curvature of the descenders in the italic 'f’ of Arrighi. They’re just so pretty— like the holes in a violin.

Look what arrived! (like two weeks ago, but never mind)

It’s my copy of Receiver of Many by @kata-chthonia!

This is a beautiful story that I’ve had the pleasure to watch grow from a weekly-updated story posted a chapter at a time on AO3, to an actual, physical book in my hand.

I really recommend you guys check this out. It’s a different yet oddly faithful retelling of the Hades and Persephone story, with a strong feminist slant. It’s beautiful, haunting, exciting, tender, erotic. It’s well-researched, well-written, and sexy as hell. (18+ only, sorry) Do it to support an emerging author, do it to read a great piece of fiction, just go and take a peek.

If you don’t have the cash to be buying a paper book, it’s also available as an ebook.
