Hi! I have been researching Greek Mythology, specifically any and all characters pertinent to the Hades and Persephone tale. One tale says the river Styx was the mother of Persephone, and after further research, I read the Styx is sometimes identified as
There’s no such thing as too much curiosity ;)
The only reference to Styx being Persephone’s mother is in Pseudo-Apollodorus, which simply states:
“Styx bore him [Zeus] Persephone” (Bibliotheca 1.13)
…which was written much later in the Roman era.
Other than that, she is the daughter of Demeter. I suppose that would be an interesting take considering that Persephone is a Chthonic goddess. There aren’t any mentions of her being the child of Styx alone. But you are correct, Styx is also identified with Demeter Erinys, or “the wrathful earth”. So in that sense she’s also identified with the Erinyes.
I can’t really determine how or why this is, but the lineages of the gods are complicated by what tradition is followed, whether it’s Homeric, Hesiodic, Orphic, etc.

‘Proserpina, Proserpina, come home to mama, come home to mama…’
Been sick the last three weeks and slowly re-emerging to use a pencil again. I drew her descent home to Hades so now that it’s Spring it’s only fair to celebrate Persephone’s return to Demeter ❤

Hades: I’ve secretly been withdrawing money from the shared bank account my wife and I have and deposit that money into my personal account which is untraceable.
Hecate: Wait wtf? You planning to bail?
Hades: No. I just really love surprising Persephone with small gifts. Usually she’ll see the price and say it’s too expensive, but this way, she’ll never know :)
Persephone, who has overheard all of this: *silently cries*

Accur*te?
If/when the show gets picked up will you still be active on tumblr?
I don’t see why not…
But then again, I have no idea what my life will look like if that happens.
Yeah I get the world of toxic masculinity but she is in Tartarus hearing crazy things and seeing scarring visions why is her first thought “damn I hope Hades doesn’t feel less of a man”
Considering how new she is to the world below, that he is essentially taking her to Tartarus and she is, in that moment, extraordinarily dependent on him to navigate so dangerous a place, I can absolutely see how that could cross her mind.
How do you think the show deal with thoughts and mind reading without cheesy voiceovers?
I have no idea. I think that’s one of those things I’m going to have to leave in the capable hands of a good film editor.
