Christianity: More or less a concoction

Syamasundara: I think that's the difference between the Christian emphasis
and Krsna consciousness…
Prabhupada: Because it's simply mental speculation. There is no basis.
Syamasundara: The Christian monks, ascetics, they always thought that the
life they were giving up, they were suffering, always that feeling…
Prabhupada: Poor fund of knowledge, that's all.
Syamasundara: Anyway, to go on…
Prabhupada: And they have developed this philosophy and this Bible, after
the demise of Jesus Christ. More or less it is concoction.

We are all rascals and fools

Everyone in this material world is a rascal. A particular living entity
desires, "If I can get the opportunity to obtain the post of Brahma, then I
can create a big universe." Thus he receives the body of Brahma. And the
small insect thinks, "If I can create a small hole within this room, then I
can live very peacefully and eat." Thus Brahma desires to create a universe,
we desire to create a skyscraper, and an ant desires to create a hole in a
room, but the quality of the work is the same. We are all fools, however,
because we do not realize that because these things are material they will
not last.

The ideal of human civilization

This is ideal of human civilization. Every woman should try to become
maidservant of her husband, and every man should try to become the hundred
times servant of Krsna. This is Indian civilization, not that "Husband and
wife, we are equal rights." That, in Europe, America, the movement is going
on, "Equal rights." That is not Vedic civilization. Vedic civilization is
the husband should be a sincere servant of Krsna, and the wife should be a
sincere maidservant of the husband.

Do not beat children

…children should not be beaten at all, that I have told. They should
simply be shown the stick strongly. So if one cannot manage in that way then
he is not fit as teacher. If a child is trained properly in Krishna
Consciousness, he will never go away. That means he must have two things,
love and education. So if there is beating of child, that will be difficult
for him to accept in loving spirit, and when he is old enough he may want to
go away—that is the danger. So why these things are going on — marching and
chanting japa, insufficient milk, too strict enforcement of time schedules,
hitting the small children? Why these things are being imposed? Why they are
inventing these such new things like marching and japa like military? What
can I do from such a distant place? They should run and play when they are
small children, not forced to chant japa, that is not the way.

enlightenment among the elderly

One can see enlightenment among the elderly at pilgrimage sites in India,
especially in Vrndavana. There one sees many old people visiting temples
with intense devotion early in the morning. Hundreds of old people walk the
circumambulation (parikrama) paths despite physical debilities. Some are
bent nearly double! Someone might criticize that these people are not being
provided with the Western medical treatment that could add a few years to
their lives or ease their pain. But the sincere babajis and widows of
Vrndavana who somehow make their way every morning to see Krsna in the
temples and who call out "Jaya Radhe!" are actually fortunate and most
intelligent. They are taking the krsna-rasayana, the elixir that will grant
them eternal life in Krsna's spiritual abode. The Vedic sastras recommend
that one drink this elixir from the beginning of life, but even if one
neglects to do so earlier, one should by all means drink it during the
waning days of life and thus cure the disease of repeated birth and death.

Pariksit Maharaja inquired:

What experienced listener, O brahmana, could ever grow satiated while
listening to the pious, charming and ever-fresh topics of Lord Krsna, which
cleanse away the world's contamination?

Lord Ramacandra and dig-vijaya (victory in all directions)

Lord Ramacandra showed His favor to His brothers by ordering Them to go out.
Many of the Lord's devotees residing in Vrndavana have taken the vow not to
leave Vrndavana to preach Krsna consciousness. But the Lord says that Krsna
consciousness should be spread all over the world, in every village and
every town. This is the open order of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
prthivite ache yata nagaradi grama
sarvatra pracara haibe mora nama
A pure devotee, therefore, must execute the order of the Lord and must not
gratify his senses by remaining stagnant in one place, falsely proud,
thinking that because he does not leave Vrndavana but chants in a solitary
place he has become a great devotee. A devotee must carry out the order of
the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Caitanya Mahaprabhu said, yare dekha,
tare kaha 'krsna'-upadesa [Cc. Madhya 7.128]. Every devotee, therefore,
should spread Krsna consciousness by preaching, asking whomever he meets to
accept the order of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The Lord says,
sarva-dharman parityajya mam ekam saranam vraja: [Bg. 18.66] "Abandon all
varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me." This is the order of the
Lord, who speaks as the supreme emperor. Everyone should be induced to
accept this order, for this is victory (dig-vijaya). And it is the duty of
the soldier, the devotee, to impress upon everyone this philosophy of life.
