How to Recognize Advanced Devotees with Pure Motives?
Question:
How to recognize who is chanting the holy name purely (eg. bhajans) since we don't know how this devotee acts in his private life? Is it a good sign that while hearing our attention to hear the holy name increases as well as our desire to chant more? I am hankering to associate with advanced devotees with pure motives, but it is so difficult for a fallen soul like me to distinguish properly. Sometimes I consider a certain devotee pure or serious but then hear of some "skeletons in his closet" so I became somewhat discouraged.

Devotees have eyes of discrimination
The devotees, they have got such eyes to see that they can immediately
discriminate who is a fool, who is learned.

What is the Urgency of This Human Birth?
Question:
While preaching I have come across several persons who doubt the cycle of birth and death and when the point comes up about having to go through millions of births in the animal realm, (or any realm for that matter) before coming back to the human platform, I often hear; "Well I was born in this human body and don’t remember my other births, so if this same chance will happen again someday what is the urgency of this human birth?
So basically they are saying they do not remember the suffering of other lives, yet all of a sudden they were born in this human form where things are pretty nice, and they are wondering, what need is there to change. What does it matter if they take so many animal births as long as they don’t remember, since one day they will just be back in a human form again?
So I am wondering how to defeat this argument.

Srila Prabhupada’s confidence in his books
Last night Dhananjaya dasa reminded us of your confidence in your literary
solution to the problem of spiritual institutions surviving in the material
world. You told him that even if all the GBCs, temple presidents, and
pujaris leave your mission, your books are everywhere, and consequently some
sincere soul will read them and know exactly how to start the Hare Krsna
movement again. You urged that your disciples strive to get the reward for
assisting you, but then you declared that even if we fail you, someone else
will certainly arise in the future, just by reading your books, and get the
credit.

A devotee knows everything
A devotee who is always in Krsna consciousness, for him there is nothing
unknown. He knows everything. Just like we can give information of the whole
creation. Not only of this material world, of the spiritual world. Clear
conception. Where is where, what is what, everything. That is Krsna
consciousness. The more you make progress, then you fully, I mean to say,
conversant with all departmental knowledge. Everything is completed.

In all circumstances, try to go back to Godhead
If we try this life to go back to Godhead, go back to home, that is our
success. We should not bother about the condition of life. Whatever
condition of life we are put in, we may be satisfied.
So we should endeavor for improving Krsna consciousness. Then our life will
be successful. Sometimes you will find mother is supplying very nice
foodstuff to one child, and other child the mother is supplying only little
barley water. Do you mean to say mother is unkind to one child and not
unkind to other? Because mother knows better than anyone that this child
cannot digest. There is some trouble in his stomach. He should be given
light food. And the other child is all right. Similarly, mother nature is
the guidance. So if somebody is starving, it should be noted like that, that
he is put into that circumstances to get better.
